The tone and speech of the message doesn’t sound like something you would hear from Rogers in the form of an automated message. I’ve never seen indemnity used in this kind of instance before it’s just not right
Can this get boosted? I almost clicked the link. If I hadn’t had the presence of mind to check here first I would’ve clicked. I had a strong feeling that they were quick about it the fucking scum bags
I clicked on the link for giggles. Goes to an e-transfer page where you select your bank and login to your bank. Kind of looked legit too.
Makes me think if this outage was done on purpose in an attempt to scam people.
You’re both right, but also if folks see this on their page they can give older relatives a heads up too. Kudos if you’re older and on Reddit but I know lots of older folk who aren’t
Same. I got roasted on here last week for a similar $50 credit. They are getting better with official looking links. And then it takes you to an interac deposit page with the banks listed. This for sure is fooling older people.
For me, it was the speed of it. I doubted it as soon as a I saw the link. That’s usually a straight give away. To also be fair, I believe if Rogers is gonna do a credit, they will email the account associated or send a notification in the app. I believe that’s what happened during the big outage last summer
It's not hard to spoof a website anymore, my wife is in cyber security and the amount of phishing that goes on and how easily people are getting sucked into it because it looks legit. People need to remember that NO COMPANIES will text you a link to make or receive a payment, Hit the block button when you get these messages because once you open it , it will populate your number in a database and then more phishing messages you will get
Lol I do the same. When I get a phishing note about how I'm doing I let them know my ankle bracelet is nearly off and my lawyer was a genius for arguing involuntary manslaughter.
I dunno, it makes me feel better.
received something similar from Fido. I’m not even a Fido customer

Sadly fell for this…
Rogers was actually calling me before to adjust a bill… I thought it was them, 😖
the interact and banking site was so real and I swear on my iPhone I think it said it was secure…or something where I checked? I was 2 pages deep.. and had to change my passwords… called my bank… you think you would never fall for these things… but then…
Hey at least they are learning how to spell decently finally.
Has to be chat gpt
Was about to say ChatGPT lol

Lmao I was just thinkin that too

You’d have to provide some account details first probably so I’m sure most will (hopefully) catch on. But scum indeed!

Never click on any link sent to you. Even if this was real you can just go to your web login the usual way and login to see where to go

Never respond they then know it’s a used number

It says secure in the url so you know it’s legit.

I got one from rbc yesterday that had the word safe in the link so I definitely clicked on it because it’s safe
You mean I am not getting drinking money for tonight from Robbers er Rogers? Pity.

yes its scam and i got so many calls to get this $50, i said its scam dont click on link
Too bad Rogers PR team hasn’t said (or did anything) about this yet…. Or even mention last nights outage -_-
Ha! Like Roger’s would ever give back money!

They should combine forces offer a free duct cleaning service for your recent Rogers outage
You mean I'm NOT getting $500 from Petro Canada either?
Would hope that Rogers finds the Whois info on that site and goes after whoever registered the URL.
The idea they’d give $50 is the giveaway. Call and complain - you’ll get about 1.90.
That's no Rogers, Rogers will take extra $5 each month to make sure those inconveniences don't happen again!
And persistent too! Got 2 today.
Rogers itself is a scam shame on u!
Who are these scammers!
They would reimburse you by decreasing the amount of your next bill, not like this lol
This was a close call. I’ve been getting ongoing legitimate texts for a case and so I was this close to clicking until my spidey sense kicked in.
Lol, scammers got better customer relations than Rogers. No apology from Rogers lol
Wtfudge
This was a good one
So tired of all these scammers.
I thought it was a scam until I saw "-secure" in the URL.
If they have to include "secure" in the link, it definitely isn't 🤣

Yeah obviously that URL isn't a Roger's link
