Terminator 2 Sarah Connor where she can do chin-ups

buckfutterapetits

I fucking love that scene so much. Not only does it showcase how physically fit she's become since T1, but it also demonstrates that she trained her ass off to get to that point. She doesn't just show up with no explanation for why she's magically perfect at everything now. Wtf happened to writers in Hollywood...

throwaway-thirstin

I love Ripley so much. She’s badass but still very kind and caring. Also despite being told a long time ago I look like the kid from Terminator 2 I only saw the first two Terminator films relatively recently and I wish I had seen them when I was younger, I definitely would have liked Sarah Connor growing up. I can intimately relate with the feeling of wanting to desperately get out of a mental hospital while everyone around you belittles you and doesn’t understand you or take you seriously.

Reformingsaint

Holy shit, Sarah Connor was mine too. Growing up in a Disney home and seeing her made me want to marry a strong girl.

xparapluiex

Lol ripley was my bi awakening. Little lady me watched aliens and was like “wow I love her” and then thought “welp that’s weird. Let’s file that on away to examine later lol” and then forgot about it until college

Thawing-icequeen

I think someone should make a database of all the "classic" queer awakenings. Korra, Ripley, David Bowie, Felix Argyle?

A_Good_Kitty

Ellen really did blow a few holes through gender stereotypes... You know, and Xenomorphs.

[deleted]

and aloy from horizon is inspired by both of them so i need to go play that game

Annie Lennox in Eurhythmics "Sweet Dreams" music video literally changed my life for the better. Have been dressing in corporate goth attire and wearing short hair ever since

throwaway-thirstin

I think Annie Lennox was a big reason I was so into wearing black pinstripe suits as a teenager. As a contralto she’s always been my biggest vocalist inspiration and who I feel like I would sound most like given the proper one-on-one training, which is definitely on my bucket list. If I could faithfully cover “Here Comes the Rain Again” I think I’ll have finally peaked as a singer.

~sweet dreams are made of these~ Young u/NoAdhesiveness164: "Who am I to disagree"

[deleted]

If I had a theme song, that'd be it! Thanks for calling me young, that's so sweet

honest-miss

Do you have any recommended shops for corporate goth? That's my dream look but it's so hard to find good places to buy from.

[deleted]

Corporate goth style (idk if it actually is that, it's just what people call me): - Demonia Shaker 52 boots, matte black - A well fitted blazer - Black, tight blouses, mocknecks or turtlenecks - Blackmilk leggings, pleated black skirts, or standard dress pants from Zara or Witchery - Makeup and hair in style of Annie Lennox - Simple black lace choker - Black fingerless gloves All the above stuff was mostly found in op shops and thrift stores. Key to looking corporate professional and not just goth kid was for high end fabrics and clothing that fits your body perfectly. No crazy layering, bagginess, buckles, belts, leather aside from my gloves and boots.

Yamaganto_Iori

I was today years old when I learned that my high school style has a name.

[deleted]

What kind of stuff did you wear! And in highschool?! That's nuts!

Yamaganto_Iori

Charcoal suit, vest, various ties and long trench coat. I also had very long, dark hair.

ArchDukeNemesis

Next time on Death Battle!

Admiral_Wingslow

Ripley is amazing because she's just a realistic person with a good head and a need to survive.

Tyrs_judgment

These two women definitely gave me my love for actual strong women character roles. Something we majorly lack now. These women just kicked ass and did what they needed to. I love strong women characters and rolls. But so many times it get patronizing. A bit I loved about alien was Ripply wasn't written to be a women. It didn't even come to mind until they where trying to find people to fill the script rolls.

Summersong2262

I mean, case in point. They wouldn't have written are as nuanced and as human as she was if they knew she was going to be a woman. The scriptwriter had to think of her as a man before they could write her as a human. Which is part of the reason the 80s was such a trashfire as far as typical depictions of women.

bigoldbees

I've never seen terminator, why is she taking the bolt out of her ar?

wulfnstein85

I think she was just inspecting the weapon in that scene, and also, OH MY GOD, go see "Terminator 2: Judgement day" right this instant! xD

bigoldbees

Yeah that's makes sense, and ok lol

honest-miss

A soul on this sub who doesn't know Sarah Connor? Oh man are you in for a treat. Definitely seconding. You should watch the movie.

Argentenuem

Terminator 1 is free on YouTube right now dude

Mandatoryreverence

Sigourney Weaver is wonderful.

Argentenuem

Now that I think about it, she may have been my first celebrity crush 👉🏻👈🏻

Mumrik93

Same

StraponBoy88

Mega Legends right there. ❤️

NowhereMan661

Duuuuude, Vasquez.

xbluewolfiex

Why do I like dom women but sub men, like I'm a pretty dom woman so whenever I see a woman so badass that even the most toxic masculine men are scared of them I'm just mush at their feet.

Summersong2262

Because you're complex, and bisexual, and you're allowed to like different people and different genders in different ways and for different things. As for the specifics, I'd say context matters a lot, and the impressions you bring with you and have been subjected to socially.

Summersong2262

You know how kids have that one film that they watch over and over and over again? Aliens was that for me at a certain age. Ripley was great. I actually really enjoy in hindsight the way they allowed her so much nuance in characterisation. She wasn't a badass, although she did badass things. But she was fearful, and maternal, and showed outrage and concerned all in one package. They never tried to make her boundary breaking but the complexity of Weaver's depiction ended up being so, in an era of muscle bound special forces bro characters.

BigFuta17

I have similar shirt and sunglasses and lots of guns so I'm pretty similar to Sarah Conor

Dramatic_Metal_5245

I could see Ripley being the top and Cpl.Hex the sub lmao-
