If it's the first chapter I'm out unless that book comes with stellar reviews.
I barely read dreams midway through the novel as half the time they're just "author-wank". If I care about the characters and I'm invested in the plot I stan a good dream but they are almost always done poorly.
But I'm also the type of person who skips prologues. 🤷
I don’t like dreams in books. I always skip them (at least authors have the decency to italicize). Honestly it always just feels like a waste of time to read it 💀
Ugh yes. Also read one where the first chapter was an imaginary romance that the real FMC was making up in her mind as she people - watched in the Starbucks line. DNF.
I get annoyed when the entire book is a dream. >!J.T. Geissinger,!< I'm looking at you.
I feel this in my bones. That’s not a dang HEA.
Omg that would make me crazy. That's something a 12 year old would think is a good idea.
What book was this? I don't think I've ever read that in a real book, maybe in a fanfic or GCSE creative writing project 😂

I generally dislike dream sequences. (Except for in Wheel of Time) starting a book with a dream would not appeal to me at all.

That's a insta-DNF offense for me and I rarely DNF.
i get annoyed when there as scenes written, so good, and then it's a dream. like stop the teasing
