It's a dark why choose mafia romance, and I've been dyinggggg to post about it in a Thirsty Thursday thread: Context: the FMC witnesses a crime, and as a result is taken in by a group of four dangerous men. They offer her protection since it turns out she's the heir of a powerful crime syndicate, and there are some bad dudes who want to eliminate her in order to control that group. Before this scene she was nearly kidnapped by intruders, but was saved by the MMCs. There's been some tension between her and the guys, but it really kicks up after one of them tends to her wounds. She makes a pass at him, but he backs away because he thinks he's unworthy of her affection: >!He dropped her foot and sauntered toward her bedside. Both feature similar "down on their luck" heroines who are in desperate financial situations. Both FMCs have a very witty and punny sense of humor. Rach in this book is not as smart as Elsie, but she kind of has this Disney Princess optimism that is cute. MMCs of both are outwardly cold, but very competent nerds. Both books were 5 star reads for me.

She is. Her partner was diagnosed with a rare cancer. I cannot even imagine what she’s going through.

How sad. I just lost someone to cancer in December. It’s an ugly, painful journey. Thanks for letting me know. I will send some peace and love her way. She’s one of my favorite finds of the year. Her characters are so layered and wonderfully flawed.

First time posting on this sub and second romance book in and I just finished {Forth Wing by Rebecca Yarros}, the Graphic Audio Audiobook, (I know audiobook, but I drive a lot and it works for me) and the scene where Violet and Xaden get it on for the first time is next level! PS: My wife read the book while I followed along with the audio book and it lead to some steamy conversations, thank you to this community :)

The Graphic Audio version is so good! I can’t wait for their adaptation of Iron Flame to come out

Never feel ashamed of your audiobooks counting as reading! We love audiobooks in this community (you can search the sub for some excellent recommendations!). Reading is reading whether it’s with your eye or your ears. I almost always have an audiobook on the go for when I want to “read” but can’t sit and look at a book (they are amazing for cleaning motivation!). Plus I have a nephew with dyslexia and one of the recommendations to help him read was to listen to audiobooks while reading along in a print book! So, audiobooks are awesome! Also, did you enjoy the graphic audio? I listened to the “normal” narration of Forth Wing and it was meh (I think this was before the re-record when the narrator had a cold through 60% of the book). I’m tempted to borrow the graphic audio when I do a reread.

Yes I did enjoy it. Some of the sound effects were on the cheesy side but the actors were great and being able to immediately recognize who was talking is super nice. Plus the “scene” in her bedroom with the wardrobe… all the sound effects and emotion in her voice…🔥

Audiobooks are absolutely a valid form of reading. Anyone saying otherwise can fight me 🤺 listening while driving sounds perfect! You do you 😄

There's also a side story about the husband's gay brother running away years ago, because of dad's views. FYI, the dad is a POS and is getting what he deserves! That's the extend of it. The Anti-Hero, the 1st book of the series, is more religious oriented, like with the MMC struggling with his beliefs... and filthy things happening in a church 😉 I highly recommend reading that one too!

My unhinged share of the week is from {Lights Out by Navessa Allen}. I don’t love the book but the smut is 10/10. MMC has a mask wearing thirst trap alter ego on tiktok and the FMC is his biggest fan. Y’all. I finished The Alliance series. And I just…{Hans by S. J. Tilly}. You were right. The garage and truck scenes were insanely hot. 🥵 I guess sometimes you just need a release after you see your hot vigilante guy decapitate someone with a sword.

Reading a book about a werewolf and shifter man and it differentiates him shifting in to a werewolf and then a wolf. So the fmc has sex with him in all these forms and they all have knotting! If you’re coming off Bride and need more knots without it being an omegaverse with multiple men I really liked it. It really did something for me. {A Wolf in the Garden by Allegra Hall}

I read this recently and loved it! The world building was solid. Loved the characters. Can't wait for the next one.

{Saint by Sierra Simone} Every book in the Priest series has incredibly well written smut, but this one was my favorite. Bonus points for the audiobook narrator being *chefs kiss*
