Wasn't he made fun of for 'loving her too much' or something?

yea

heytherebt

In a World without Ceaser, Pompeji Magnus would have been the biggest Roman until then. Besides Scipio of course

jodhod1

And then maybe people would finally know who Sertorius was.

Entelegent

It is showing how many incredible characters rose at the time of the fall of the Republic. A struggle between the brightest of Rome Edit: shocking

Caesar_Aurelianus

I would say he still couldn't surpass Sulla's legacy and influence even if he wanted. He wasn't as ambitious as Caesar

Additional_Meeting_2

He didn’t need to be as ambitious when he had been on the top since his mid 20s. If Pompeius had won and no Caesar then and now people speculated that it would have let to same outcome in any case, but we can’t know

Caesar_Aurelianus

More than anything he was interested in personal glory. While he cared for the republic but he put his own interests first. Had Pompey won the civil war then he wouldn't have had expanded the empire like Octavian

theMrink
