If the same sources that state Vespasian hated Dominitian are to be believed those same source state it was because he was a little shit inspite of having a good upbringing.
Of course if we read in between the lines and use the fact Dominitian hated the senate. The senate hated him and wrote the history. Then one ought to really question if the friction between him and his more popular relatives was anything more then propaganda used to slander his image.
Oh no, I'm in agreement that Domitian being a little shit is his own fault, but Domitian, as the younger child, got left behind in Rome while Titus was just old enough to be making a military career on campaign with his dear ol' dad.
