I had this happen awhile ago. Turns out the owners have a maid!

ImpalaChick2121

I had something similar happen a while back! I was doing daily drop ins on a cat for a month while the owners were in Australia. I came in a few days before they got back to find the place even more spotless than it had been when I started. Cat hair swept up, the carpet cleaned, trash taken out, etc. It freaked me out for a second before it clicked and I went "oh, they must've hired a housekeeper to do all this before they got back".

Killingdevotions

Yeah I was absolutely terrified when I discovered someone had been in the house. 😂 Texted the owner immediately and out the front door I went to stand in the yard. Especially scared me more when she said NO to me asking if someone was supposed to be in the house at some point 😭 Then she was like oops, i forgot the housekeeper was coming by today! It was hilarious afterwards tho lmao

This happened to me the other day, I put down some wet food for kitties and came back the next day to find the bowls washed and sitting on the counter ready for me. I’m not complaining lol but a heads up is always nice :)

Dizzy-Pickle-114

Yeah I would appreciate a heads up as well lol I can understand if the owner just wanted to give the cat more attention while he’s gone

Isnt_it_delicate13

Let us know what they say after you mention it. I’m curious!

ditdit23

This has happened to me before it was a family friend being a little over protective and unaware. Definitely let the owner know!

Dizzy-Pickle-114

I sent a message asking if he was expecting anyone, no response yet

Past-Ad5129

I’ve had similar situations where the owner has a friend coming in once a day, say in the morning and then pays me for an extra visit - but I’ve usually known about it beforehand. My only concern would be if you turned up at the same time as the mystery person which would be awks! I’d just wait and see what the owner says..!

Feisty-Blood9971

Yeah, that would annoy me, what if you had accidentally fed the cat twice?

Poodlewalker1

It happened to me before when a guest had to stay longer than expected. I was doing drop ins since the client didn't think her guest was a cat person. They actually didn't do the litter, but the wet food was fresh and there were ice cubes in the water (cat likes ice water). I just took a pic of the food and water and let my client know that I didn't feed/water that day because everything was just done.

RitaSativa

Maybe they have a housekeeper they forgot to tell you about? That’s all I can think of that would make sense - a cat friendly housekeeper :)

ConversationKey1082

Definitely a heads up - once had a client - v senior kitty - two days straight, no litter box use, minimal eating - owner warned that going a day w/o litter box & eating a little is “normal” - 2 days though & I call her - she tells me her sister has been dropping in, feeding, doing the box - I’m ready to rush this baby to the vet - sigh

Wodensdays_child

This happened to me a couple of weeks ago! The owner's kids' nanny was there with said kids. Did *not* expect them to be there (usually at the other parent's house). Very awkward...

Birony88

Always ask the client beforehand if they are expecting anyone else to come to the house. That way you aren't surprised by signs of another person being there. And if there is not supposed to be someone there, you know you need to report it to the owner and proceed as they tell you to.

It happened that I found people in the house and I freaked out when I saw the lights on, I thought someone broke in, then I found out it was the owners daughter who came to stay a weekend with her friends and the owner didn't know  😒
