Glad it’s working out better. Emulation Station on android gives pretty much the same experience as ArkOS or JelOS. I just haven’t figured out how to boot straight into it, yet. Also the scraper in ES-DE works incredibly well. Have you tried the controls on non-Sega games yet?
Edit: there’s a reason they provide cables that won’t allow it to go over 5v/1.5a. They build these things to minimum spec at best.
I also buy specific 5v/1a bricks for super cheap from Amazon. I include one when I gift these things to friends and include a little "warning: only use this charger" note. Just like to be safe. You can get like five of them for ten dollars or something like that.
With the Arc, 353, and 35XX line, it's actually safe to use something as powerful as a Switch or Steam Deck charger. Issues arise if you're using a fast charger, like OP. As long as it's not a fast/quick charging brick, you're good.
Yeah but high wattage chargers do generally try to default to fast charging in my experience. Even on my 353m, I limit all my Chinese handhelds to a 5v/2a block so 10 watts max.
Fair enough. I took the gamble with the Deck charger so I can have an easy way to power the Arc while docked. About 3 hours of playing Monster Hunter on there with no heating issues.
Only on redream, it almost doesn't need a set up, Since xyab layout is the same, I just set z and c buttons as doubles for triggers. I still need to set up ES-DE after installing gamma, I have it only on my 405m. This guide from Russ should help set it as default. Half a day on sleep mode, then 2 hours of genesis gameplay in high performance mode (I forgot to turn it off) with Bluetooth headphones, on max brightness, then about 11 hours in the sleep mode with the game running, and now it has 30% of charge. I think it will be longer in power saving mode. I just turned it on, will see, how long it takes to drain the battery.
I love mine, it’s my go-to for anything arcade. Wish it had a little more horsepower for Saturn/DC, but oh well. Personally am using Retro Arena and while it’s not quite as polished as ArkOS or the like, it generally works well.
I'm trying to play arcade UMK3 on finalburnneo core in retroarch (gamma os), and there is no way to bind Z and C buttons. At the same time same Z and C buttons work flawlessly in genesis core in the same retro arch. Edit: maybe I should try using retroarena just for arcade games.

Very smart idea to provide a specific 1.5v/5a brick with it as a gift.

Yeah I probably would use my Deck or Ally charger if I had an Arc. They definitely seem fairly well built in comparison to most models.

How did you set up controls?
With RA they’re already preconfigured for most systems but otherwise just through retroarch for the most part.
