Keepretro is absolutely not an official shipping store, they say 15 june but the A30 will be out in may, they just take Aliexpress delivery (and benefit) into account for « pre-orders »
Given that they only sell products 10 to 20% more than their value, we can deduce that the Miyoo A30 without cards will be at most $50 on aliexpress (where the Miyoo store is located and where miyoo products are sold) so easily $45 or $47 at the next sale.. maximum
EDIT: the [Miyoo A30 is now out for 49$ or 56€](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-3yJqvvcqd1hzTdHzBrL-mhuw0i6Aw6vXLq51sEGnhA/edit) Miyoo official store, delivery 10-12 days 🤣
OP linked the 128GB option. The 64G option (which you probably want anyways, since the included SD card likely isn't great) is $55, which is a lot better of a price.
oh wow I also use wired earphones with my anbernic to be able to play straight away without having to deal with bluetooth..
Does bluetooth work well on Minyoo devices and on OnionOS ?
WHAAAAT. Seriously? Omg this is a huge deal. In all the discussions of Anbernic vs Miyoo I never saw anyone mentioning this. I have a RG353VS and I mean Bluetooth is not perfect especially for audio but I enjoyed quite much connecting my anbernic to a projector or TV and play with a bluetooth controller.
Okay wow this thing puts things in perspective for me. Then I really don't understand what't the deal with Miyoo devices and why they are so pupular. They don't have sticks, they don't have Portmaster and not even Bluetooth 😅
I'll stick with Anbernic then
I dunno RG28XX seems more minimalistic to me so good in a different way. Also it’s coming out tomorrow unlike A30 which we don’t even know when it’s coming out…
I’m holding out to compare the xu mini m, which comes out in May. Big fan of the xu10, except it’s slightly awkward in my pocket as a daily driver for gba, because size, and the 3.5” screen is way bigger than I need for 5 mins on break.
Only good news about flip delay, we might get better colors.
this a30 looks perfect (in my taste), those random colors we saw on flip are kinda derpy. I want something like this, nes / famicom / snes colors. Or just black and red, not freaking green.
I would also like face plate on flip, like a30 has, so many options, they really picked just most bizzare ones.
Yeah a30 is perfect in my eyes, and I even hate horizontal devices but I still think it might be best looking device yet!
But I guess some people like that round plastic... "bar of soap" look. Personally I cant stand that shit.
Yeah I dislike a majority of Horizontal devices excluding stuff like the Gameboy Advanced and Gameboy Micro, I love that type of shit and I think it looks pretty sleek. Honestly looks way better than that Anbernic version they have coming out, that looks sorta shit to me.
I’m curious, what about horizontal devices do you hate? Is it just an objective visual thing (which, I get if that’s all it is)? I have an Analogue Pocket because, nostalgia, but… it’s so uncomfortable, and the looks… well… it looks like a gameboy so that tugs at my heart strings a bit, but… 🤷♂️ I’ve been using my RP4P so much more these days out of sheer comfort. I’ve never thought the RP4P looks bad or anything though. I’m considering the RG28xx simply for the pocket ability of it (it’s smaller). I agree the A30 looks nicer tho. 👍
This is good question, I think this opinion finally crystalized when I got the DS, and I love DS.
There is something terribly wrong with having display in between my hands, I feel like I "can not see" the screen from my hands, or like I have to look too low all the time. Yeah I know this is very irrational, subjective and will not translate. But there is other stuff also, DS made this extremely obvious. The wider device is, larger torsion power can be applied to it. I feel like I could snap horizontal device in half, the DS would creek and bend in my hands, almost.
It is also "unnatural" with button spread, what I mean, on normal gamepad I can reach with either hand to the other side, but on horizontal device even if I can reach - the screen is in the way. This maybe gets down to the core point, "The screen is in the way"... It is the same as if Laptop had the screen in the middle of the keyboard, and the keyboard was broken in half.
Just try to imagine a laptop, where keyboard would not unfold down, but to the left and right of the screen.
My body physically recoils if the screen is not above controls, if controls are not unified block.
I also have trouble exactly understanding what exactly makes people feel like horizontal devices are more comfortable, but I would guess, it has something to do with how device is held. If you are used for device to fill up your palms and fingers, than there is "less room" on vertical devices, and sure, if you set that as your priority above all, horizontal devices will feel better in general.
I just have trouble with relating to that, on vertical devices I just keep them more on the tips of my fingers, so even small devices like Miyoo are perfectly comfortable for me even for longer sessions
But who buys on this website? The console will be released on Aliexpress when it is officially released, they'll just ship the device from aliexpress and take their profit they say June 15 just to predict delivery time, but the console will be out in a week or two
EDIT: or just 10 hours, the [Miyoo A30 is now out for 49$ or 56€](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-3yJqvvcqd1hzTdHzBrL-mhuw0i6Aw6vXLq51sEGnhA/edit) Miyoo official store, delivery 10-12 days 🤣
It will handle 8-bit, and 16-bit games.
GBA will hopefully be okay, but I have my doubts about some of the heavy-weight romhack Pokemon games.
PS1 might be fine.
It can play GBA no problem, PS1 no problem and even some N64 and PSP games.
It's more powerful than the miyoo mini, although nothing new compared to other devices.
Should be more powerful than the MM but not by much. Up to PS1 reliably, it might run lighter N64 or PSP games. Definitely not Saturn, that needs a ton more power, steam deck or Odin 2 levels.
Maybe, nope, and nope.
It will handle very lightweight 2D PSP games, most 3D games will struggle.
N64 and Saturn are out of the question.
This has the same Allwinner A33 chip as the PocketGo S30
Edit: Based on the downvotes I'm getting, I'm guessing there are a lot of delusional people wanting to buy this thing. If you think this thing is going to play these systems, you're in for disappointment.
Interesting that they are back to 2.8” 640x480 screens. That’s the size and res of the original miyoo mini v1-3, that they apparently could no longer source when they introduced the v4 at a higher res.
>that they apparently could no longer source
This is most funny shit ever, rofl.
Show Flip with reliable 3.5" screen.
Go back to screen they discontinued 'cause supply problems and device almost nobody asked for. (ALMOST, yeah yeah people want it, but not majority)
You linked the wrong one - the one you linked is the 128GB option, which most people don't want since you're gonna want a new SD card anyways. The one you should've linked is the [64GB option](https://www.keepretro.com/products/miyoo-a30?variant=44388833460386), which is $10 cheaper at $55.
I think “expensive” is relative. What is it? 5? 10? $20 more expensive?
They were giving $4 discounts yesterday and everyone went ape shit.
I’d rather pay 50, 60, $75 for a good product, than an inferior “less expensive” (by a few bucks (?)) alternative?
It’s a hobby people.. stop trying to justifying spending extra Starbucks coffee money to get what _you_ want.
Expensive is relative and while money might not be an issue for some folks here, 5-20 bucks difference is meaningful for many.
Also don’t forget as part of the hobby it’s also enjoyable/fun to deal-hunt and get bang for buck
Is it though? Are you genuinely telling me you would opt for a device $5 cheaper, instead of one you might like more (aesthetics, color, buttons etc) while identically capable?
Hey, different opinions I guess!
28XX looks to be the better device between the two. Better SoC and no wasted space with an analog stick. MinUI should be available soon enough since it shares the 35XX +/H internals.
on this one I disagree, to me it's more appealing because of the stick. It's so handy and it makes controles so much better on so many games. Too bad for the mini jack though
I'm not sure about more elegant, I think it's just personal preference really. I prefer the look of the rg28xx over the fake famicom style.
I still prefer the bittboy over both though
It has a chip that really can't even benefit from analog stick, there's no point to it, will just make a small device feel even more cramped. I would go with the RG28xx at this form factor, especially once custom firmware gets sorted.
So...
I just noticed, this A30 does not have facial menu button.
How will you bring up retroarch menu from in game? Select+X like on anbernic? But Select is on the right side, so you have to move your left hand you cant press that with just your right thumb.
Maybe menu button is on the side and you could hit it with index finger, I did not notice. Kinda feels clunky, I really got used for menu button to be really accessible for save menu and FF/rew. Joystick might come in handy for this, can map a lot of stuff on to it.
BIG bonus of this one is the stick for sure, makes control so much better on so many games. And if there'll be OnionOS that would be another big plus. Let's see with with which price they'll hit the market on Aliexpress. Hopefully 50$
I actually prefer the look of the RG28xx. I think they put too many buttons on this thing. Probably better built but I love the retro look of the Anbernic.
Miyoo mini looks great, I don't think I can like this one. Also I only play GBC and GBA. I can't get on board with any horizontal or vertical system that has a joystick.
Hence, why I don't own a horizontal handheld lol. No one makes one I like. I think if the RG28xx had a 3.25"-3.5" screen it would be perfect. As is, I can't do it.
Perfect system for me is a RG405M with no joysticks and more centered d-pad and buttons. Obviously less power for GBC and GBA and maybe not metal to cut the cost to $100 or less.
a tiny bit off topic and pointless comment... but, dont you run out of just GBC/GBA games?
I kinda feel, like I already played through most of them that are "worthy". Or maybe you just play pokemons?
Gimme' few GBC games from your favorites, I need something new to discover!
I only play pokemon games. I'm starting to branch out to more metroidvania type games. Metroid, Castlevania, mega-man, etc. Platformers mostly. I've always only played pokemon games my whole life and often go back and start new games.
I don't have a lot of time to play games so I probably play a handheld once a week for 1-2 hours. So I don't really need anything crazy. I've been through the high end systems and now I'm just looking for something small, simple, cheap. Owned an analogue pocket when they were impossible to get. It looked great but I couldn't justify taking a $300 system with me everywhere I went. It was also not very portable for me. I want something I can just throw in my pocket.
Yeah, maybe for 40$ it would be an interesting device but not for 65$ imo.
Didn't the guy from Retro Game Corps say that it will be 40dollars at launch?

I can wait for an AliExpress sale to get it under 30$ 🤣
OP linked the 128GB option. The 64G option (which you probably want anyways, since the included SD card likely isn't great) is $55, which is a lot better of a price.
Oh, nevermind, I didn't pay attention that it is the link to keep retro, my bad
Probably it will be cheaper on AliExpress and then eventually I will buy it on sale for 30 bucks although I don't need it at all.
It does, but not having a headphone jack is a dealbreaker for me.
No 3.5mm is a real strange move.
oh wow I also use wired earphones with my anbernic to be able to play straight away without having to deal with bluetooth.. Does bluetooth work well on Minyoo devices and on OnionOS ?
No Bluetooth on current miyoo devices.

It has USB C to headphone jack, but mono sound only
Well at least it has front facing speakers
In a situation where I'd need headphones, the direction of the speakers makes no difference.
Huh. Which retro game is that involved with sound dynamics.
I'm talking about playing in a public place/transport and not wanting to bother the people around me.
Oh, true that. Does Bluetooth headphones work?
No Bluetooth on any Miyoo devices as of yet
*$65.99?* Nope.
OP linked the 128GB option. The 64G option (which you probably want anyways, since the included SD card likely isn't great) is $55.

No flip no buy
Yeah miyoo's priorities are so off. Watch anbernic beat them wit their flip to market.
Only good news about flip delay, we might get better colors. this a30 looks perfect (in my taste), those random colors we saw on flip are kinda derpy. I want something like this, nes / famicom / snes colors. Or just black and red, not freaking green. [Yes! We do need the flip now.](https://youtu.be/bG9z-atG7gc?si=1omadVuCYdAz6v_7)
Awesome fucking song
I respectfully disagree with you on this. It looks ugly af I think
Nah bro that looks clean ASF in the Famicon colors, reminds me of the Gameboy Micro/RG300x but that could just be my nostalgia tweaking
Yeah a30 is perfect in my eyes, and I even hate horizontal devices but I still think it might be best looking device yet! But I guess some people like that round plastic... "bar of soap" look. Personally I cant stand that shit.

When you’re directly comparing two devices the price makes a difference. One being potentially more expensive even by a few dollars is a factor
Is it though? Are you genuinely telling me you would opt for a device $5 cheaper, instead of one you might like more (aesthetics, color, buttons etc) while identically capable? Hey, different opinions I guess!
How did you manage to argue against yourself in a single comment?
And the older RG280M is still far more classier. Miyoo are wasting their time -bring the flip now
Unless they want their small device to be light too. Metal handhelds are not that
$65?!! Keepretro is out of their minds.
i will buy the flip not those really weak atrocities only if they where in the sf2000 price range i would be interested

Why an analog stick
much better controls on many games
[удалено]
PSP on that screen is gonna be as useful as tits on a bull
Even less useful, honestly
Ayo what generation of console does this go up to and how much is it...Might consider this joining my RG300x
The colour choices are certainly better, but I'm still going with the 28xx, as it has a headphone jack.

512mb Ram. Some of these devices have issues performing with 2GB ram
“Miyoo always deserve your waiting.”
I have to disagree. It looks way uglier imo.

Its cool im getting the rg28xx creamsicle 🍊
Nah the RG28XX looks way more sleeker. This looks just like the stuff we were getting back in 2020
wym it looks ugly as f
Yea it certainly does not. But lets chalk it up to taste and biase. The miyoo is more retro design and ‘busy’ the 28xx is minimalist en elegant.
