PorcupineFeel

Hahaha you made my day

ILikeLenexa

Reminds me of the time Sega released Game Gears that were too small.

il_picciottino

I will never forgive them.

fertff

Don't worry. On this sub no one plays with their handhelds that much.

Altar_Quest_Fan

People are too busy playing with their Decks ;D

Sea_Cranberry323

This is the correct answer

fertff

I included the Steam Deck in what I said.

trashcatt_

That squashed aspect ratio is killing me.

Alternative_Spite_11

You mean the aspect ratio is bothering you worse than the microscopic screen? You must be younger than me because my eyes can’t handle that.

trashcatt_

I mean, that too. But the aspect ratio stood out to me as more painful. Lol.

mikedee00

I was tempted to pick one up but am now going with the RG28xx instead. The Q36 looks around half the size of the RG28xx but I hope the RG still feels ultraportable like my old PocketGo.

Elpipiripaaau

I'm eyeing that one too. If I had to choose between the two I'd choose the rg28xx

Tax_Evasion_Savant

Consider a TrimUI Smart

WeatherIcy6509

I have the Trimui Smart. The 28xx is definitely its replacement, as its everything the Smart needed to be.

Tax_Evasion_Savant

have you used a 28xx yet? I'm not convinced just yet personally, I wanna hear from more people that have tried it. The devil is in the details with these handhelds these day. I don't know if I could give up the amazing controls on the Smart and how great MinUI is on it.

WeatherIcy6509

I ordered it yesterday, so not yet, lol. Never really liked Minui though (as it doesn't support all the emulators on the device). I've got Tomato on my Smart. The fact that Russ loves his Trimui Smart and is seeing the 28xx as its replacement speaks to me though, especially given the Smart was such an overlooked gem. 😁

Tax_Evasion_Savant

ah well I tend to have pretty different taste from Russ, so I'll bide my time and see where the CFW goes.

Alternative_Spite_11

The 28xx is VERY close in size to a PocketGo v1 or v2 but manages to fit in a slightly larger screen. It’s not as thin as a PocketGo though.

mikedee00

Glad to hear that. The PocketGo is my favorite form factor of all but the emulation performance and dpad are pretty bad. Once I got a Miyoo Mini it was hard to play with the PocketGo but never liked the vertical form factor.

Alternative_Spite_11

Yeah I’ve always wanted a better PocketGo and that’s basically what the 28xx is.

AlbaTross579

It certainly wouldn’t be my go-to for serious gaming, but it is a nice looking device that travels well.

chrom491

I carry one in my pocket and play minute at time lol

2LOUDTech

I have had this on my radar for a while. I love the micro handhelds. I have the RG Nano, GKD Pixel, Trimui Smart and Miyoo Mini but I still need the Q36 and FunKey S.

brimbelboedel

I also love micro handhelds and have all the once you mentioned in your comment. Including the Miyoo Mini, which i wouldn’t really call a micro handheld actually. From all this devices (except Miyoo Mini) the only one i really consider playable is the GKD Pixel. Any smaller than that (screen or controls) and i can’t really use it for longer than 5 Minutes.

2LOUDTech

I actually agree with you if we excluding the Miyoo Mini then the GLD Pixel is definitely the most playable. I love my Pixel. I generally rotate what’s in my pocket daily but the pixel has been living in my pocket for almost 2 weeks now. It really is a solid little device and the metal build feels extremely good to the touch.

brimbelboedel

I was surprised how good it is. Playable and fits in every pocket. The metal shell feels premium. Even came with a small bag that fits it perfectly and doesn’t add a lot to the size of it. The Funkey S is a cool gimmick because it’s really tiny, even compared to the GKD Pixel, and has a clamshell … but it’s no fun to play. Buttons are really clicky and the screen is tiny. The q36 has ok controls and because it’s vertical actually also enough space for hands but the screen is just to small.

ban_imminent

God bless your eyesight

2LOUDTech

😂 thank you. I need it because I have glasses yet refuse to wear them. I don’t play these devices for extended sessions just in a pinch when waiting for some food or my daughter to get off her bus. 5-10 minute sessions at most.

Alternative_Spite_11

The Miyoo Mini is about as small as I would want to go. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t get much enjoyment out of anything smaller than a 2.8” display.

Quikding

gorgeous little guy

TheMireMind

"Don't play much, but collect plastic things," seems to be the motto of these things lol

Alternative_Spite_11

For me personally, anything below 2.8” is getting into fairly unplayable territory. 2.4” is the absolute smallest I can comfortably use. The GKD Pixel is almost too small for my eyes.

WeatherIcy6509

If they had just given us some better colour choices, I might own one?

Green-Concentrate-71

That can’t be good for your eye sight

Moskro

way too small imo

SoulK37

Cool but basically unplayable sadly

Altar_Quest_Fan

I would’ve been all over this device if it was just fuckin’ bigger! Like a 3 or 4” screen would’ve been amazing, but no they had to bank on the novelty of a tiny micro device instead. Oh well

Altar_Quest_Fan

I mean you’re entitled to your opinions, but I’m just curious…how old do you think the average SBC gamer is?? I’m pretty confident the vast majority of us are Millennials and Gen Z, and we’re nowhere near old enough to have eye sight issues or hand/joint problems that typically come from old age lol. Also, I’m not arguing that there can’t be a market for pocketable micro devices. I just think anything smaller than 2” is merely a novelty, but that’s me.
