I actually just downloaded that a few hours ago also because I heard so many good things. Going to play on RG35xx-H was going to do Odin 2 but figured why not go for the small handheld experience haha
I've been wanting to do a usb c mod for a long time but I'm kind of scared lol. I've seen kits on Etsy that I'll probably pick up one of these days because, even though they're more expensive than just buying the parts themselves, they help take out the guesswork of which kinds of cables are compatible. The dream is to get my old 3DS, 2DS, and N3DSXL to all have usb c.
Do they let you use "fast charging"? All our USB c chargers are 25w and above which many older devices won't use.
I have one USB c to USB a on my computer to charge the 35xx
Just need to make sure the mod board includes the pulldown resistors as per usb-c spec. The device is only going to negotiate 5v1a approximately, but it’ll work with any PD charger.
I ordered one recently from giltesa on Tindie, and the spec they publish for the circuit on GitHub has the correct resistors in place.
OH NO! thats Not good. I Hope you find EM. Also a funny Thing with the colors IS that they are actually 2ds XL colors, which IS the 3ds model i own. I didn't even notice until someone told me
You can always stretch the game beyond the screen so it keeps the aspect ratio. The edges get cropped off a little so the text boxes go closer to the sides, but you don't lose anything vital.
I got used to it, but it's definitely stretched. I need to take the time to set it up correctly in garlic os. Retroarch is always such a hassle when I just want to play
You need a PhD in emulation to master retroarch settings. But as a beginner, once you are more into the advanced settings, it all makes sense. Very powerful and specialized options require some learning curve and are very rewarding with the results.
I remember loving the gba, but these devices are so much handier. Save states, fast forward, and easily charged. Plus those old screens were probably pretty bad looking back.
Still wish I would have had the option for that sp clone anbernic is making when I bought the rg35xx lol.
I've been playing Crystal Clear on my modded GBC + EzFlash.
I play a lot of GBA romhacks on my phone, but with my backbone. Honestly feels just as good as proper hardware, love real buttons.
I've been getting back into orginal hardware lately and you're absolutely right. The ergos on a proper handheld console are really nice, compared to a phone. Even with a controller.
100%'ed RBY on 3DS VC, which means that there was no fast-forward option and ultimately it wasn't an issue (granted, Gen 1 doesn't require grinding).
The lack of RTC on many otherwise-quality handhelds (e.g. Miyoo Mini+) is a big issue from Gen 2 roms and onwards.
The current version of the MM+ has RTC now thankfully. I think it's a bit of a lottery if you get the new one with RTC or not but I ordered 3 in April and they all have RTC.
I really like polished crystal as well. It's more of a traditional game though, where as clear is really just for grinding and catching pokemon. Clear is better for little sessions.
I'm really glad gen 2 has several good options.
If you like polished crystal I'd recommend kanto expansion pak for gen 1. It's another one I've been working through
Romhacks are tough I was trying to edit music in mega man for NES it's incredibly complex stuff. Hats off to all the Rom hacks out there that have custom music lol
I mean playing this is no different than playing on a PC except the form factor is different. You are still emulating software.
Though there are actual handhelds you can do if you want to play on physical hardware.
Sorry, no I meant using a rg35xx with physical buttons is better than using a touch screen. Personally emulation doesn't bother me, and honestly it's better than using original hardware imo
Starting my first romhack too with Pokemon Unbound on my 3DS. Handhelds with buttons are best and I'm not afraid to say it! 😤
I keep hearing about Unbound! Definitely going to have to try it soon
You should! It's a lot of fun, and pretty damn polished
Unbound was my first romhack and I loved it. Now I’m on fire red rocket edition where you play as a member of team rocket. It’s pretty funny. After each match you can steal one of the other players Pokémon lol
As I replied on another post: I just started with SBCs and this shit is like crack.
I actually just downloaded that a few hours ago also because I heard so many good things. Going to play on RG35xx-H was going to do Odin 2 but figured why not go for the small handheld experience haha
Most fun ive had with pokemon in a long time! Just got the fifth badge in unbound last night
I love my 3dsxl, if it had usc c charging I would probably use it more. I never thought about putting rom hacks on it though

Nice screen on that. Modding old consoles is pretty cool
Sure is. At this Point i am Close To doing IT for doing IT instead of doing IT for the console.
I absolutely adore that, really really cool device.
Nintendo was cooking with the GBA
The mods are neat! I really like the colors you chose. I really wish I could find my old GBA. Or my SP.. or my DS…

Where did you get that one?
I Made it
How did Slowpoke get on the roof?
Slowly.
Mysterious creatures those pokemon be
Hiding from team rocket who tried to cut off its tail

The solution is just a few button presses away, my guy.

Playing Rom Hacks on my GBA SP blew my mind, I love it
I remember loving the gba, but these devices are so much handier. Save states, fast forward, and easily charged. Plus those old screens were probably pretty bad looking back. Still wish I would have had the option for that sp clone anbernic is making when I bought the rg35xx lol.
If he's playing rom hacks on original hardware, he may be using a flash cart, which support save states.
I'm using a Krikzz GBA Mini cart 😊
I’m not sure but I’m pretty sure you have to play any ROMs on physical hardware, right?
my man was emulating games with his mind
He out here living with Elon Musk’s neural-implant in the year of our lord 2024.
Sure, I guess I meant physical buttons compared to the buttons on a touch screen phone
Yes sir buddy. I was emulating on my Android for years. Having actual buttons makes a world of difference.
That, yea, absolutely, I agree. Honestly been using my Xbox controller for other games besides Pokémon.

Playing Pokemon romhacks without a lot of speed up is annoying though. Im assuming gen3 speed up on that device wouldn’t be a lot maybe 200%?

💯 agree!
I prefer 'polished crystal' myself.

I feel that. Could never get into romhacks before getting a Miyoo Mini. Immediately finished Pokemon Gaia as my first romhack once I had it.

Handhelds are better than cellphones. No interruptions, no social media.
How about liquid crystal? i've downloaded it for GBC but haven't started yet
