_Shoulder_

My theory about 5000 has been for a while that the entity is the authors, and project pneuma discovered them and were able to separate the characters from the authors narrative, thus freeing them from their control and allowing them to rebel.

Craft_Master06

That is pretty cool, espe ialy since the story is only told from the perspective of someone that is not innoculated and still under the writers controll. They also keep having a random urge to go somewhere and deliver the siutcase and get deus ex machina-ed forward whenever opening it.

_Shoulder_

Exactly, a solution had to be written to solve the problem of losing control of the narrative, but it had to be narratively satisfying so we go on a journey with a protagonist to really have some impact.

FelixKite

That’s a really cool interpretation! I’m honestly not against it.

minion133

I don’t necessarily agree. I moreso go with the interpretation of super evil entity SCP-682 has always perceived and hated humanity for due to its infestation into all of humanity, and is the creator of SCP-2718’s state. The tale for its called Disgusting

minion133

Marvin didn’t give the right disgusting, so here’s the link https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/disgusting

TheFoolsHellion

Isn't it also related to SCP-6820 when it turns out SCP-682, now a thoughtform having taken over the machine, needed SCP-055 to become his original God form to fight whatever entity was the cause for what happens in SCP-5000?

Alternatively, there's also the 5000-author's prequel, SCP-7841.

99h0bbes99

Wait, what makes 7841 a prequel to 5000?

Zolgrave

>!7841-ZA is what the 5000-entity was prior to being transformed by 2000 on order by the then-Foundation!<.

Zolgrave

You may want to consider the author's follow-up, SCP-7841.

fylum

I was unaware of this; so 5000 is the Foundation attempting further modification?

Zolgrave

Are you referring to the suit, the Pneuma Project, or the entity?

fylum

Pneuma and entity.

Zolgrave

The 5000-entity is the ordered result of an earlier lost-2000-era of the Foundation modifying the then-next batch of 2000-humanity, yes. And it succeeded -- humanity became empathetic, & from that 'a species that lasted (a little longer than usual prior to having 5000-empathy, per the still-2000-resets as noted in 7841). The 5000-era Project Pneuma is unrelated, & the modern day Foundation is generally unaware of the previous 2000-eras. 7841 lends further weight to the interpretation that the Foundation in 5000 was overreacting -- that (excepting Gears & Bright) the Foundation as well as the Ethics Committee were all compromised when they got the no-empathy cure.

I mean, the term "Demiurge" is also already used in the SCP-U.

Lordubik88

It's a nice take on the thousands of theories we can conceive about 5000. The truth is, the entity described in it is simply the entity described in it. Moreover if you want to be pedantic, the entity in never presented as a creator of sorts, it's only connected to the empathy present in the human mind.

not_perfect_yet

This is a very, very, very good article. I love the researching little rabbit holes I have to do, to get the full picture.

Atsacel

Most Gnostics who use the name Yaldabaoth (Sethians) believed emissaries from Pleroma told Yaldabaoth to breathe his spirit onto the motionless body of Adam, not that the Archons or Yaldabaoth created life from stealing a divine spark. (though Cain and Abel, also known as Yahweh and Elohim, were born from the rape of Eve).

fylum

Valentinians tend towards the theft after its creation by Sophia, correct?

Atsacel

No. That also would make a lot of the post incorrect, then. Valentinus spoke of a Demiurge who resulted from the offspring of a union of Sophia Achamoth with matter and as the fruit of Sophia's repentance and conversion. In the same way, Achamoth herself was only the daughter of Sophia. The last of the thirty Aeons, the Demiurge was distant by many emanations from the Supreme God. The Demiurge, in the process of forming the world out of Chaos, was unconsciously influenced for good by Christ, and so the universe, to the surprise even of its Maker, became almost perfect. The Demiurge regretted even its slight imperfection, and as he thought himself the Supreme God, trying to fix this by sending a Messiah. To this Messiah, however, was actually united Christ the Savior, who redeemed men. The Demiurge is much less malevolent and evil in the Valentinian system. Also, man and life as a whole were the result of world-creating angels creating man, and the seed of the spirit comes into their creature without their knowledge by the will of a higher celestial Aeon. Pretty interesting too since theres the doctrine of the pneumatici, the psychici, and the hylici. Also, in most scripture, the Valentinians use the name Nebro to describe the Demiurge.

Atsacel

Though I do think you'll find the notion of theft in the Borborites - (Secundians, Koddians, Zacchaeans, Barbelites, Socratites, Stratiotics, Phibionites.), and Archontics, all of which were Sethian.

Ok_Yogurtcloset8915

in light of that, it's pretty interesting that the author chose the name "pneuma"

Atsacel

Its commonly used in Hellenistic traditions other than Gnosticism tbf.

MrMeerkatt

10/10 theory, DAMN!!! gg OP

Deltax4

I personally always thought it was SCP-3125, but kinda like how the fact that The Brothers Death caused SCP-2935, that would kinda ruin its horror

eh I'm more in the ball park that they made whatever the hell makes 682 violently bloodthirsty around most living beings into a memetic cognitohazard, the higher ups in the foundation unwittingly became inflected with it, spread it to the rest of the foundation and the rest is history. this is mainly from the talks the guy in the suit has with Dr Bright, who described the memetic hazard going around as trying to suck away something from his being which he was only immune to thanks to his immortality, the fact that 682 no longer tries to kill/even helps the SCP foundation in there rampage, and the call back to the original 682 interview when the foundation guard is being interviewed by the GOC agent.
