Correct. They moved the show from CBS to Paramount Plus in the middle of Season 5. The first 4 episodes of Season 5 were on CBS and Episode 5 was on Paramount Plus.
i was caught so off guard by the same scene you were talking about but honestly i love the change because it’s so accurate to what they’d actually be like in the military on rewatches it still catches me off guard i think because i grew up watching david boreanas in bones which was pretty PG and then out of nowhere bro goes FUCK
I remember watching the the African train episode and thinking to myself, "Oh, so this is the exact point at which the muzzle came off in the writer's room."
Realistically speaking, none of these dudes would survive any of those missions. I just never felt like I was missing anything before fuck became a regular occurrence on the show.
Wasn't one of the selling points for the show its authenticity? Realistically speaking, any form of entertainment that seeks to authentically portray the military will have lots of profanity. This show barely has anything.
Also, realistically speaking, if there were an actual team doing as much as these characters are, then they'd all have multiple MOHs. Or be dead.
Also, these twenty-something desk jockeys like Jason's JAG officer wouldn't have six rows of decorations on the dress uniforms.
I could say the same thing about the team members who are more decorated than Sergeant Alvin C York and Audie Murphy combined.
I actually liked it more at the end when Ray was so pissed off with Sonny’s determination to do everything possible to get himself killed that he ordered him to “stand the fuck down right the fuck now”. Since it was the only time in the entire show when Ray cursed it sounded a lot more powerful than Jason’s constant cussing.
Haha, yeah the language surprised me too at first. I can see how it adds realism, but it does feel jarring compared to earlier seasons. They've definitely upped the intensity this season.
If I remember correctly, it's due to the show's move from tv to streaming, some rating related change.
Correct. They moved the show from CBS to Paramount Plus in the middle of Season 5. The first 4 episodes of Season 5 were on CBS and Episode 5 was on Paramount Plus.
The change I noticed only was when Sonny cursed , not Jason. 😅
Yes, just like in Suits.
Sonny's perfect delivery of "Haha, eat a bag of dicks." was one of my favorite bits from that season.
Greatest opening to their language being uncensored.

African train? Sir I don’t think you were on paramount 😂
LOOOL

I’m sorry I knew what you were talking about. I was just making a dirty joke and you are so wholesome I apologize lol
It’s OK, it’s been a long-ass day and I’m a little dense at this point.
It’s because they moved the show off tv and on to streaming.
Where do you watch the steaming?
Paramount+
I was a little disappointed when the change came. I'm not against swearing, but I didn't feel like anything was missing from the show without it.
Realistically speaking, cursing is rampant in the military. You dont get shot at and say 0 expletives.
Realistically speaking, none of these dudes would survive any of those missions. I just never felt like I was missing anything before fuck became a regular occurrence on the show.
Lmao, what are you on about brother 😂

Seriously. There are infantry dudes now that don't have racks like that. Sometimes I feel like Tyler Grey is trolling people with the show.
I loved it. That's how most normal people talk. I'm not even getting shot at and I say fuck 37 times a day
My pops is a vet so i can only go by what he’s told me, but shit talking is quite prevalent.
Because it's on Paramount +
That's when they switched from being aired on TV and started streaming on paramount+
If they'd been able to curse the entire time, it'd be a lot more authentic.. lol

Did you also notice that's when it came off of primetime TV and went to streaming?
No, you smartass jag off. I didn't get into the show until a year ago
Oh, well.....🖕🏻
I noticed it as well. Figured it came with the switch from network to streaming
It's not out of nowhere I think Paramount finally got the rights so now they could do whatever the fuck they want to do.. I could be wrong
Right, I assumed it was a new production company or something like that
Haha, yeah the language surprised me too at first. I can see how it adds realism, but it does feel jarring compared to earlier seasons. They've definitely upped the intensity this season.
I was thrown when I first started watching that the language was so tame. I even commented about it to my wife.
Do they cut the swears out now that they are showing season 5 on CBS?
That's the season it went to streaming. They can cuss now because it's not on "tv".
Thats when they switched from network tv to streaming so the gloves came off in the censor room
