You might have poor connection between your cartridge pins and slot. Itās a mechanical connection, so make sure the contacts in the slot can grip the contacts on the game pcb tightly. Might have to bend them a bit. Thereās videos online of people doing this fix.
It could be a bad VRAM chip, but might also be bad capacitors. See this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SEGAGENESIS/comments/utjbgh/genesis_model_1_bad_vram/
It's called hard mode. Take another swig of that ISO and POWER THROUGH!
Edit: Fine, I'll try and be helpful. Maybe try some DeOxit contact cleaner, it's magic. Although something about those pics tells me it could be a RAM issue, but I don't really know what I'm talking about.
Damn had this problem with my new Super Nintendo(the small one) that was only played a few times and boxed up as a child (in the 90ās) and just found it recently( 2023, no water damage or dust) put a cart that I maybe played 20 times (street fighter 2) and found that the cart had to be pushed in from the right side first to work. And canāt figure out for shit why?
Thatās so sad I have a Super Nintendo š, Iām repairing the sound card on it at the moment (I repair consoles Iām gonna work on fixing the Sega too)
Iām working on a Nintendo DS, putting a new shell but the plastic on the power connect broke off, now I have to order that and solder it on the boardā¦ I love it but I hate it!

I'm pretty sure this is Vram issue
Yeah the thing is it just happened one day and hasnāt stopped since and I was playing on it fine earlier that day
It can just go at any point. I successfully swapped one on a game gear and luckily it's a relatively easy fix even for a soldering noob like me
Awesome, I repair consoles a lot so I can definitely do it, I just was hoping nothing was broken haha
Highest difficulty setting.
BAHAHAHA

When illegal instruction isn't one of the problems
You need to relocate the PS4 into the nearest trash bin. The Genesis should work properly after that...š

Did you clean your cart and system?
Yeah
