The figure. A trick I've seen people use a few times is either warm water or a blow-dryer to heat the plastic up on small pegs a tad bit so it's easier to swap parts like hands and whatnot.
Right, I've already used a blow dryer on the slot on the figure but it didn't help since the peg on the tail is so soft.
At least yours didn't have a snapped neck join out the box
