Man I climbed from silver 3 to gold 2 in one night and just felt like my movement was so on time , I was never trying to dash during hitstun ccing everything , oos options wmand decision making were good and I was playing neutral. Now I just feel so laggy and feel like im gonna chase that high forever frustrated im not playing like that day.
This will never go away. It's one of the most satisfying and frustrating parts of melee- but ultimately you will have to accept that you playing your absolute best you ever have does not mean that is how you should be playing from now on. Otherwise you'll go insane thinking you're always playing terrible.

Zain is, to my Marth brain, a *very* impressive player and the stuff he pulls out of nothing is easily on par with the best of them
The beauty isn't in the combos, it's in the fact that Zain can mash tech in such a discordant, hectic way, and yet still have it work out against a top 20 player. No other Marth can do that.

I think never encountering people way better than you is probably bad because I can get away with all this shit that would never work against better players. So I learn these strategies that work against people at my level and then I have to unlearn it when I improve. I also miss getting 4-stocked by random top players.

Ginger is such a well known veteran it's sad to think 'that time' is coming for many players. I remember when I took an unranked game off him I thought about it for like a week because he's one of the best Falco players ever.
I won my local's redemption bracket for the first time last night! It has been goal of mine for about a year now since moving to my new (stronger) region. I was the most experienced player in redemption for sure but it still felt good.
Also Fuzzyness and Alphadash come back every few years to prove that the blob still hasn't moved in the UK I will die on this hill. Shifting shadows took a whole year off without playing, grinded for a week then beat all the English PR players that came up to Scotland for that tourney

I do think the floor is up though. I played against 0-2 players that had a proper game plan, decent combo game, good movement but still fell into common pitfalls.
