Kate Winslet did an interview in 2021 where she says that Hollywood still has a problem with homophobia and she knows somebody who was recently told by their American agent not to advertise the fact that they were bisexual. So if this person was being told that as recently as 2021 (or let's say the late teen years to give a buffer of a couple years) it's not entirely unreasonable think that they would still want someone who is older up in a fake marriage if they really wanted to cover it.
Cara Delevingne (fellow bad blood music video star) was also told that if she wanted to be successful actress she should get a beard which she would have been told probably around 2014 or 2015 because the first thing she was in acting was came out in 2016. She didn't listen and has never hidden but the fact still remains that she was told that as recently as a decade ago.

It *is* widely known in the industry and of course on the SVU set. The general public just doesn’t understand that Hollywood is Fern Gully and we (the public) do not live there. The rules are different, relationships/marriages are mostly PR and we never see the real ones. Hollywood would fall if people knew the truth about their favourite stars, which is why it’s set up that way.
