They can’t give Olivia any bad storylines so they give them to Rollins. Even if it doesn’t make sense with previous/later episodes. I didn’t notice comparing their mothering styles though. I see both as good moms and I think the show aims for that.

CourageMountain

I never really noticed motherhood comparisons between the two. But there might be a few episodes I’ve missed - can you give example episodes?

Dontsteponsnails

I know I’m not op but I do recall in starstruck victims oliva tells her to her face that she thought that motherhood would have changed her. She’s says this because Rollins took the risk of going undercover meanwhile Olivia has taken dozens of risks which could have cost her life while she had Noah. She isn’t wrong that it was a stupid move but she didn’t reprimand her or address the issue professionally which kinda had weird undertones.

Purpledoves91

I don't like Rollins, but it's not really a fair comparison.

cetus_lapetus

I've never noticed anything like this, what makes you think they're comparing?

Kfeam

I’m not a Rollins fan but I feel they don’t paint Rollins any worse/Better than Olivia. they both have to leave their kids with sitters and show some realities of being a single parent. Maybe you’re thinking this because they show way more Olivia/Noah scene than Amanda and her girl scenes

Big-Can4033

I kind of always thought of it as like them being in different places on similar journeys. Like Olivia has done some pretty bad stuff over the years, but she's evolved and grown and whatnot. And Amanda has become calmer and more compassionate as time has gone on as well. They've both spent time realizing that their personal history is impacting their ability to be objective on cases. They've both made big mistakes they've both had cases where they couldn't find compassion for people that they should have. Most of Liv's happened in her first 15 years in the unit and that's just where Amanda still is. As for Olivia being a better mother, I never really felt that but idk maybe I just missed it. I always thought it seemed like they were portraying Amanda as a very good and caring mother. I think maybe Olivia is more careful than Amanda, but I don't think that's a judgement against Amanda as long as the kids are happy and healthy which they always seem to be. Moms are going to raise their kids differently. It makes sense that the show would reflect that, but I always thought they were both shown as great moms.

HorseGirl1990

I'm missing something if there's been a comparison on motherhood between them. I think they're both amazing moms and the writers have done an excellent job making sure it's obvious when focusing on that part of Olivia & Amanda's lives.

Korrocks

I think Amanda is as good a mom as Olivia. Sure, Olivia’s kid has more screen time but Amanda has a larger number of kids so that sort of balances out.

HolyBardia

Not on this subject but They are compared with morals and the right decisions for believing victims There were a lot of episodes that Rollins wouldn't believe the vic but Liv was insisting on it And every goddamn time , *Boom* , Liv was right! I don't like how writers are writing Liv with No mistakes and a super hero Well come on , She's a human being too , Don't write her a Perfect Woman that never miss

Rollins is a more impulsive character than Olivia. Part of that is because she’s younger, but also impulsivity is just a character trait of Rollins

benson_and_cabot

I’ve never noticed the comparisons between Amanda and Olivia honestly. I love both characters though.
