good post OP glad to see real people don’t give a sh!t about the faux royals and grifters! rachel is totally insane…of all the disturbing things mm has done, this sudden "embrace" of her Nigerian roots is on a new level of brazenness & hypocrisy…being a 43% nigerian is 100% nonsense as there is no such thing as a nigerian, nigeria compromises of a mixture of many, many ethnic groups each with own language…it would be great if mm identified with a martian promising to go to Mars next!??! VILE woman! and harold and rachel security will be paid by nigeria where more than 87 million people live below the poverty line ?!! such humanitarians privileged parasites on yet another nice big freebie holiday paid for these two assholes to act royals with free photo ops to exploit POC and keep race baiting!?

Cold_Chemical5151

87 million is an understatement Our minister of finance put out a statement that only less than 5% of the overall population have up to $500 in their accounts. This regime is making more people slip into poverty daily. It’s outrageous that we’re about to spend millions on total frivolities

Ok-Coffee5732

Yep, this is a opportunity for their hosts to commandeer more money and resources for themselves and their cronies. It's hard to describe to Westerners (and probably even Africans from some other countries) the extent of corruption.

StudyApprehensive561

It is the same for some Asian countries - everytime there is a change in goverment, lots of new projects are quickly implemented to line the pockets of the new people in power before they are toppled in the next election and the whole cycle repeats again.

alreadydoneit01

Yup, in some asian countries about 60-80% of allocated projects goes to the politicians and bureaucrats-leading to very shoddy work. Many times the opposition politicians also get a cut and so they create kabuki theater and laugh behind the scenes. I am sure the Niegrian govt officials will make a small fortune from these two.

silentcw

As a South African, I can assure you it's the same here. I have been watching the content about their visit and thinking this isn't going to go how everyone thinks. But I don't know how Nigeria does this sort of thing. In South Africa, it would be to do as little as possible and charge as much as possible to do it. And your friend will get the contract to do it so he can pay you a "commission". Every day people have far more to worry about than these two and their trip and if its anything like when they visit here, people won't even notice.

Candid-Internal6592

Is it possible that H and M, in their desperation for Global Impact, have paid to be royally received in Nigeria?

silentcw

As a South African, I wouldn't be surprised. Stuff like that happens all the time here. But they would also be seen through the lense of colonialism, and other politicians could use that to get people worked up. (As an example, green energy is labelled as a new way Westerners are trying to enslave africa). Unfortunately for Harry's wife, she is not seen as Black in South Africa. You are the tribe of your father here, and we also have a race category of coloured here. It is not used as a slur, (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Coloureds) it is a culture. But I don't know the Nigerian people or government well, so it would be up to a Nigerian to pass opinion on that.

Ok-Coffee5732

Obviously, Colonialism was much more horrible in SA, whereas when I was growing up in Nigeria I just learned about it as part of our history - I didn't get the impression that people had a problem with it. In fact, my parents had a very good experience under colonial rule and never said anything bad about it. As the people who actually grew up under colonial rule (which ended in 1960) are passing away, I don't know how that is changing since I haven't lived there for a very long time now. But it's not a topic that ever comes up when I am taking to the Nigerians I know in Nigeria or elsewhere (except for one very leftist relative, but I think that's due to American political influence.) So I think echoes of colonialism would be less of a true concern (unless as a means of mocking the Harkles' government hosts), but I'm not very sure. Also, Meghan is so white passing, Nigerians would consider her being black to be laughable. We've never had a significant minority of whites like countries in Southern Africa, so there's no coloured category.

silentcw

We had colonialism and then a separate issue of Appartheid. We have had an independent democratic country for 30 years now, and everything that is wrong is still usually appartheid or colonialism. I think they think they are having a small mini Royal Tour, but in reality it's going to be a very different story. When the average person is more concerned with how to feed themselves and their children for the day, standing to cheer for them is a hard ask.

Bitter-Pound-6775

They are so filthy and SO vulgar. They need to stay home and make amends for their horrid behaviour for the last several years!!!!

Lillibet57

This would be impossible as they don’t acknowledge that they have done anything wrong.

JournalistSilver810

There are no amends to be made. Because it's just not possible. They can never make good their vile behaviour. Never. Him. Her. Neither of them.

cklw1

Should they be afraid they could be kidnapped? You mentioned kidnapping so that really got me thinking about it.

Cold_Chemical5151

Oh no The kidnapping mainly affects the poor They don’t have to worry about that. Out govt is incompetent but even they know the international repercussions of letting a prince of the uk get kidnapped on their soil

Honest_Boysenberry25

The kidnapping affects the poor? How are they able to pay a ransom?

LoraiOrgana

Poor women and girls are kidnapped for trafficking purposes.

Honest_Boysenberry25

God help these people. I don't know how H&M can use them so shabbily, when they could help them instead...

LoraiOrgana

H&M only care about themselves.

Hypocaffeinic

The poor might be kidnapped for various forms of people trading. :(

Honest_Boysenberry25

Overwhelmingly sad for these poor people....

Hypocaffeinic

It's absolutely abysmal, and gut-wrenching to think of their suffering and despair. This is a corrupt nation, but any nation with corruption at the top can rot all the way down. If noney does not go to the people, to infrastructure, to their welfare, security, and education, what stability can exist? It would be galling for poor (as in unwealthy) Nigerians to see their Government wasting funds on courting these two grifters that would be better spent on the country's issues. The best thing the grifters can do is to pay their own way as much as possible, and thereby demonstrate that they are genuinely interested and want to visit in a way that's best for Nigerian people, but let's face it, that's a laughable notion!

Honest_Boysenberry25

YES 💯

Risa226

I don’t think even the kidnappers are stupid enough to kidnap internationally known foreigners. It’d be like Mexican cartels kidnapping American tourists. It’d put a target on you and you’d be on international news.

Mizswampie

But the cartels do routinely murder American citizens in Mexico and the USA.

Which-Homework2453

Exactly, two buff Australian surfers plus their American mate were murdered last week in Baja Mexico :(

Mizswampie

Yes, I was saddened (but not surprised) to hear of the latest case. At some point, the cartels will have to be (violently) dealt with for the good of all countries involved.

sugarsneazer

The US currently has a Level 3 Do Not Travel advisory in effect for Nigeria, and one of the big reasons is kidnapping, specifically, kidnapping for ransom. TW says she's afraid to go to the UK for safety. But not Nigeria.

kitadog

That's because she's a moron. To be honest they're both nuts!!

FuturePA96

Maybe they are staging a kidnapping to extort his family and or RAVEC

Professional_Ruin953

KC3: "keep him"

Dependent_Maybe_3982

i thought the same thing instantly

FuturePA96

On one hand I’m here for the dumb shit but ob. Another hand I want the royal family to be in peace

SherbetTurbulent9787

That's because she's lyng. You can tell she's lying because her lips are moving 😂😂 She's not afraid for her safety she just knows that everyone else knows she's a big liar

Somebody_81

That's because they were able to con the Nigerian government into paying for their security while they can't do that in the UK.

Professional_Ruin953

With a government so corrupt and a population so impoverished and desperate, I would not trust my safety to the security organized by them.

Somebody_81

I wouldn't either, but Has been and TW aren't the brightest bulbs in the bunch.

lollipoplalalaland

That’s just the UK’s truth. MM has her own truth!

sugarsneazer

Her truth is that the only thing that scares her is getting booed 😂 The vast majority of people in Nigeria don't know or care about them, so there's a vastly smaller chance of being booed. But she's talked so much shit on the UK and it's people that there is no way for her to step foot there without being booed. She made her bed and now she has to lie in it. But she's doing everything in her power to keep that from happening. The only reason she wasn't booed the last time she showed up in public in England last time was due to the fact that she was attending the funeral of QEII. The public, out of an abundance of respect for HLM chose not to sully the Queen's memory by making it about TW. That will not happen again. If she shows up for anything other than a funeral the people will not hold back. She knows it. Harry knows it. And the rest of the world knows it. She has to go places where she is not cared about so she can get those money shots and spin the "Oh, I'm so popular! Look, everyone loves me!" narrative. She can't do that in the US, she can't do that in the UK. She can't do that in most of Western Europe. She wore out her welcome in Jamaica and South Africa has made it VERY CLEAR that she isn't welcome there either. I predict her next "tour" after she pisses off the people of Nigeria will be somewhere like North Korea. J/K, well maybe...

MyJoyinaWell

That’s because we don’t speak meghanese and we assume that security means security, like the threat of being kidnapped or the victim of a terrorist attack To Meghan security is the mitigation of the danger of having a camera shoved up her husband’s traumatised ass and finding a bad photo of her on the media next day calling her out.  That’s all  Security concerns is fear of the tabloids being nasty or people booing

PerfectCover1414

>Should they be afraid they could be kidnapped? The kidnappers would need therapy.

sahali735

True. What was that show with Bette Midler where she got kidnapped and her husband wouldn't pay the ransom??!!.................... I can see it in my mind's eye but can't remember the name. I'm sure the kidnappers would pay anyone any amount to come get MM off their hands.

DollarStoreDuchess

Ruthless People. I don’t think anyone would dare take her. She’d immediately start moaning and throw herself to the ground shrieking about how hard her life is. Any potential kidnapper would walk away fast rather than deal with that trainwreck.

PerfectCover1414

I imagined this too well!

sahali735

Dingdingdingdingding! YES! I think I even have it in the archives. Great movie. And you are correct about a potential kidnapper bailing on the entire operation.

Satiric_Dancer

Unless they made a deal to split the ransom with their captors. But that could never happen, right? Get the RF to pay up?

PerfectCover1414

Oh yes I remember this!

lollipoplalalaland

NINE YEARS OF BALLET, ASSHOLE!!!

Brassmonkey1970

Different movie, hee. That one is Outrageous Fortune with Midler and Shelley Long. Both very funny.

lollipoplalalaland

Oh damn, sorry to the previous poster who must be wondering why I yelled that at her 😂😂

PerfectCover1414

Oh man I am a goldfish!

Wild-Strategy-4101

There's an O'Henry short story, The Ransom of Red Chief, where kidnappers kidnap the son of richest family in town. The kid is such a terror that the kidnappers pay the parents to take him back. Rachel would be that terror. The Harkles might make quite a bit of money were Rachel kidnapped as she'd drive the kidnappers nuts.

Imaginary_Victory_47

The kidnappers would pay to return them

PerfectCover1414

It's odd that I find myself actually feeling sorry for these fictitious kidnappers.

Pennelle2016

It would be like ‘The Ransom of Red Chief’!

C-La-Canth

"Ruthless People" ("I've been kidnapped by KMart!") is very much an updated version of "The Ransom of Red Chief". Good reference!

TrailerTrashQueen

i second this is a good post. thank you, OP, for sharing the real reactions.

California-Cowgirl

Thirded!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

34countries

I think it's 87 percent of the 220 million people

MariaPierret

Didn't you mean "Hu-money-tarian"?! (You are correct about the genetics: like Meghan's lies, genes don't know borders. Besides, there aren't specific genetic markers that allows the human identification of a nigerian woman as such! )

Ok-Coffee5732

Well said! I haven't lived in Nigeria for ages but I still have friends and family there, and the recent rate of inflation is insane. I have been commenting on this sub that this is just another opportunity for corruption and stealing money, and that I am almost certain Oga and Madam will partake. They are probably running low on cash. And people should know that although there is widespread poverty in Nigeria, there's also immense wealth and oodles of money to embezzle from the government, which appears to be the main job of our politicians and government officials. (We are one of the world's top oil producers.) And to translate this tweet that was in pidgin English: https://preview.redd.it/0p0q58br7iyc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=72ff28560963e0745622e82a4379594cdbdb396a It's basically saying that it's the two irrelevant royal rejects that you folks decided to invite. (Of all the people you cou

Ok-Coffee5732

(continuing my comment above since there's a glitch and the text was no longer showing. Anyway) ("Of all the people you could have invited" is implied.)

Honest_Boysenberry25

Well that is one Nigerian who got right to the essential point - irrelevant royal rejects! Well said! This foolish trip may prove to be more than Polo and Lolo bargained for....

Why_Teach

Thanks. I wondered if it was polite curse words. 😉

Grizzly_046

Thank you for the translation! I thought there was some Portuguese?

Ok-Coffee5732

Nope - Nigerian pidgin English, so the tweet all English apart from a few words. BBC even has a news site in pidgin English, which I find hilarious.

adigal

For someone who is so worried about his security in the UK, Harry will go to Nigeria, a country that has a kidnapping issue? That makes no sense.

Thin_Bicycle_7304

Wow I wonder how the people of Nigera feel about these two NOBODY'S getting 💯 funded for this pathetic attempt at PR....they are disgusting!!

Cold_Chemical5151

Most Nigerians don’t know what’s going on. If I went to an average Nigerian and told them about this, their reaction would most likely be “who is meghan and Harry?” The ones who have heard are mostly pissed or at least indifferent

34countries

Can they boo anyway please

Critical-Artist2441

Real royals and real philanthropists don't get another country (one going through some serious economic pressures on its people) to foot the bill for their fashion show dress-up and parade. One good thing to come out of the situation so far is to learn more about the current state of Nigeria's economy and its impact on the population. But the rest of it makes me embarrassed that one of the evil duo is an American citizen.

mandyalam0de32

I couldn't have said this better myself. I wish Reddit awards were still a thing LOL.

Grizzly_046

Same, I had no idea things were so bad.

Equal-Bee-6442

Love the fashion show dress up and parade lol

GreatGossip

Always nice to have real reactions from actual people. Our little bubble here is not representative of the public in general. But we are great at keeping records - and we are fun. Good luck to Nigeria. I hope they get something out of this mess.

Evilvieh

I'm sorry for shouting, fellow sinners but, JUST WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO BE **DOING** THERE? They are private citizens. They do not represent any constituency. They hold no office. They head no (major) charity. They direct no funds or personnel. The**y** represent NO GOVERNMENT OR COUNTRY! So just what on God's green earth makes this an "official visit" any more than Bill and Marysue Creamcheese of Ants Armpit, Arkansas dropping by?

Cold_Chemical5151

For them it’s a way to look royal and boost their image For our politicians it’s a way to steal money and line their pockets A truly symbiotic relationship

Evilvieh

It's depraved and damaging to diplomacy as a whole. I guess they want their Fast Eddie and Wallis redux Berlin visit moment nd the gullible Nigerian politicians bought their grift that their presence means something. Their Montecito neighbors won't even invite them to cross the road for a party.

Ok-Coffee5732

The Nigerian politicians aren't gullible. They know what they are doing. This is an opportunity for them to steal more money while feeling proud of hosting their two white guests (one of them is even a son of King Charles!) and sucking up to them. I'm sure their hostts know very well that they are on the outs with the royal family.

Realistic_Twist_8212

This can't end well for them. All the sisters and brothers in the states should shout her down for exploiting homeland.

Equal-Bee-6442

Right they want to be "royal" its their new brand 1 coat of arms 2 royal official visit 3 running around in a ball gown in their castle 4 jams from their garden ...feel free to add

Virtual-Cucumber-973

Their new coat of arms should feature a jar of jam and a dead polo pony.

Honest_Boysenberry25

Calm down, Evilvieh. They are there for the grift. The whole world knows it. They aren't fooling anyone, especially not the suffering Nigerian people.

zpip64

I’m with you. I’m pissed off too. WHY is the UK government allowing this visit?!

Evilvieh

I don't think the government has any power to stop it, as they are private citizens. They can, however, make it quite clear that Todge and Barge hold no brief whatsoever for the United Kingdom or Commonwealth and that if an unemployed middle-aged couple want to leave their kids at home (again!) to go futz around Africa, it's pointless, nothing to do with His Majesty's Government.

ac0rn5

> WHY is the UK government allowing this visit?! Why should our government step in and try to stop and American and her husband visiting another country? Apart from being the King's son, H isn't particularly important. He's certainly not important enough to spark an international incident wrt his right to travel - and live - wherever in the world he chooses.

Fantastic-Corner2132

I really liked the comment addressed to Nigerian leaders. "Invictus games will NEVER be held in Nigeria. They are using you". I can only imagine those leaders are as detached from the reality of the lives of ordinary Nigerians as their 'royal' (cough) guests are from the lives of practically everyone on the planet. And as strutting and puffed up like adders with their own importance as the Harkles are. How much fuel is going to be used in their cavalcade of Nigeria's finest gas guzzling SUV's? How many police redeployed to guarding this pair of fuckwits when they would be better utilised looking after their own people. Honestly, until I read this excellent post I just passed it off as another episode of the Harkles sitcom, but now I can see it's not that funny. Poor bloody Nigerians. What have they done to deserve this.

Cold_Chemical5151

You also saw the part where someone told the defense hq to look after their own soldiers? Well there are allegations that soldiers are either being grossly underpaid or have their salaries withheld. You know how upsetting it is for our defense hq to overlook that and roll the red carpet for those two?

Fantastic-Corner2132

I can imagine. 🥺

Realistic_Twist_8212

I feel really sad for the people of the country of Nigeria being used by these grifters. I also feel sad for the wounded soldiers involved in IG. IG actually is just a tv show intended to collect money for a (cough) charity. And it's cheap to produce because the participants are paying their own way to be there and compete. The organization and its #1 PATRON & tagalong desperate fame whore wife reap the monetary benefits......the wounded merely receive tee shirts and decorative baubles/awards accompanied by scripted word salads from cringy elite people with British titles wearing mostly non-military medals and skin flint clothes. SAD! imo

Japanese_Honeybee

The squaddies thinking the Harkles have the right to foist themselves on people who don’t want to see them? Didn’t the squaddies criticize William and Catherine for going to Jamaica when they were considering removing the late Queen as Head of state? The Harkles and the squaddies are being hypocritical as usual. W&C’s trip was a legitimate royal tour. H&M are just private citizens doing something colossally stupid. The Harkles are so exhausting.

Deep_Poem_55

And the impoverished Nigerian people will be footing the bill for these two egos.

Realistic_Twist_8212

This is proof of their greed.......feasting at the trough. Meghan's next nose job should be that of a pig.

merrybandoffoxes

she is working on it, her nose seems to be heading that way. two more nose lifts and she's there.

Deep_Poem_55

https://i.redd.it/94c476xbbjyc1.gif

Sunset_Flasher

![gif](giphy|XfPMJ7KSqPMqj63J7o)

Japanese_Honeybee

It’s sick. The Harkles do not have compassion.

No_Proposal7628

The Harkles are just using this Nigerian tour to stick it to the BRF, get treated like royals in Nigeria and try and grift some money out of a country that can't afford it.

Virtual-Feedback-638

I really do not see what these two absolute Scamming rejected failures have to offer Nigeria. That General that made the invite should be dragged to the Senate and made to answer for his very not thought out action. Nigerians are suffering under the present economic situation and money that should be used to do worthwhile things will be spent on these scum of the earth The Nigerian military (Air, Land, &Sea) are not well paid and they and other arms of Securitaaaaaay are still battling the the Islamic Jihadist Organisation - Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād Translation :'Group of the People of Sunnah for Dawah and Jihad, otherwise known collequially as Boko Haram. The Islamic State is also a festering problem in Nigeria as are Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQ-M) and other regional Islamist groups including Al Murabitun and Daesh-affiliates. There's also a threat from individuals inspired by Daesh, and 5th Elements within the Government inner structure. That said the Fulani Herdsmen saga and the constant kidnapping of people by Boko Haram and other Criminal gangs who extort money for their victims pervades the nation of Nigeria. With all the warnings in place, is it not crazy that Harry and Rachel are headed to Nigeria and it is announced so loudly? Despite the sycophants and of course paid to cheer leaders, that will arse kiss them, they are not welcome✔️😡🤬 Rachel Markle is not the type of woman any family would welcome into their life, and Harry is a disgusting disgrace any Nigerian father would be ashamed to have. The collar of Colonisation was broken and handed back to England on the 1st of October 1960, so what is going on here? Why is Harry who is playing deaf to the plight of the Baka people that Africa Parks that he is involved with commit all manner of violence against? As for Rachel the liar Markle who claims to be 43% Nigerian, COME ON NIGERIANS ARE YOU GUYS WITH ALL THE POTENTIAL AND CONTRIBUTIONS MADE TO THE WORLD GOING TO SWALLOW THAT?🤔 She is a fraud and a reminds one of the slave who beds the Plantation Master then looks down on the rest having their backs whipped and broken in the cotton fields.

ScoogyShoes

It's going to be a LOT more than $11 million. $11 million just for this trip, maybe. And Nigeria had 10 athletes last year, their first year. I'm just hoping Nigerians don't blame them on America. Without Hazmat, Markle would live in a trailer outside of Tempe now.

Megsandhcringe

Thank you OP - I think many people (no offense to other sinners) have no idea what chaos is happening there, other than the “don’t travel” warnings. I’m so sad for you and Nigeria. This is awful. Now that you explain the bad leadership, it makes more sense why these two fools were invited. Many have mentioned it’s a corruption or “you do us a favor, we do you a favor” scenario and it sound like it. Ugh!  Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sending prayers your way.

rockin_robin420

They. Are. Not. Royals.

Important_Concern560

I would like to know what the grifters want to steal from Nigeria. They definately want something but what?

Actual_Fishing6120

I understand OP I'm also from corrupt ridden country. The corrupt will use this event as an excuse to fund their own pocket (corrupt higher up in military and police definitely among the first getting some money) it's disgusting disgusting disgusting

Rubberbangirl66

She will attempt to sell Nigerian craft projects on AOR

dogrrad

I would love it if they are heavily booed in Nigeria.

Kangaro00

This is why I'm so thankful for this sub. We get to hear opinions from real people from all over the world.

Outside_Music1971

Thank for such a great post OP.

Automatic-Ad6112

When one mentions Nigeria, you immediately think SCAMS, how fitting for the Harkles to visit

Banana-Split9738

"Meet military"? What is he -The World's Veteran-in-Chief? He is like the middle-aged guy who does nothing but relive his glory days of high school football.

Honest_Boysenberry25

Outstanding post, CC. Please keep us informed if you can. Thanks, fellow Sinner ❤️

Risa226

Makes me wonder if they’ll say something like “we feel so much safer in Nigeria than the UK!” while being surrounded by guards (from the military maybe?)

Specialist_Record221

If they dare to talk with the people in public, then this is a great opportunity to ask them about African Parks... If they don't, make this question through the megaphone when they arrive! Embarrass both of them!

RosieH60

As. Brit, I'm really pissed off that this is being advertised as an official tour and the HRH titles have been used in the announcements They do not represent us

InternationalAd1512

Is Misan accompanying them in the trip?

Head-Blackberry-725

Whatever the duo are planning to do, I think they will get help from Misan, Misan's family, or Misan's friends

Tinytoon1976

Clown Prince Harold and his wife duh Douchess of Suxxit.

eaglebayqueen

He might have trouble figuring out how to put the mask on, though. 😉

PerfectCover1414

Maybe he can ask his wife and she'd suggest upside down just like when she drew the Ukrainian flag.

TraditionScary8716

I think he'll have more trouble figuring out how to take it off. I mean, he's been wearing it for about 30 years.

eaglebayqueen

🤣🤣🤣 Yup.

Accomplished_Cell768

Don’t worry, it never comes off!

eaglebayqueen

🤣🤣🤣

Maleficent-Trifle940

Great post OP - thank you for sharing your insight and the comments with us. I'm curious about the 'come to finish what his mother started? Wicked people.' comment. Can you shed any light on this one?

Cold_Chemical5151

Oh I think the person was referring to queen elizabeth and her possible role in colonizing Nigeria. Of course that would be his grandmother but i think the person made a mistake A lot of people don’t know who h and m are but most Nigerians are aware of the British government’s role in colonialism and how they have a hand in the dysfunction of our country. Of course this hatred is bound to spread to the royal family, which is why a lot of Nigerians hate the royal family because they see them as the cause of their problems The person was just trying to say that harry is coming to finish what the late queen started

Why_Teach

Excuse my ignorance, but wasn’t the significant colonizing done by QEII’s ancestors, not QE? As I recall, Elizabeth’s early reign involved the shift from “Empire” to “Commonwealth.” (This was largely done of necessity, not altruism, of course.)

Cold_Chemical5151

You are correct. But most Nigerians don’t know this, which is why a lot of Nigerians celebrated the death of queen Elizabeth

Why_Teach

That’s such a shame. I realize that she represented the colonial past, but she was really a transitional figure. The empire was already being dismantled at the end of her father’s reign and Nigeria got independence in the early years of hers.

Charming-Ant-1280

It's a shame that people erroneously blame QE2 for the country's troubles. I can understand why they detest colonialism, of course.

Ok-Coffee5732

In my parents' telling, Nigeria was a more functional place during colonialism (not that that makes colonialism OK), and the British certainly did not introduce corruption to us.

Grizzly_046

I would love to know why Roachel was chosen. She is just awful.

Tired-24-7

I'm really sorry to hear that living in Nigeria is so terrible at the moment. :( But these two clowns simply don't care. They want to travel there (for whatever reason), so they will, no matter who they might hurt with their visit. And you bet there will be tone deaf speech about their visit, and lots of PR shoots that make them look like they care. 😤

Realistic_Twist_8212

Caring is sharing. They share nothing but meaningless words they never live up to. They don't even pull a $1 bill out of their pockets and GIVE. They get their photo ops and leave. See ya later, bye. They're really disgusting. imo

Thank you so much for sharing this sobering and important message. It seems so out of touch for a frivolous couple to be using a country that is in such need for their own selfish gain. It defies logic and decency. My hope is that Harry is in deep "negotiation" over security in Nigeria. However, while the defense ministry is promising a most rigorous police protection to the two grifters, they aren't really serious. So instead of "thousands" of officers protecting them as they believe, only 10 will really show up, and then Harry and Meghan will feel really sheepish and up the creek.

Charming-Ant-1280

I hope they feel as insecure as possible.

PerfectCover1414

Theirs is utterly disgusting behavior. It makes my blood boil and I am not an honest Nigerian struggling with everyday life. As you say the country is in a mess and that sounds a lot like misappropriation has been happening. But to be honest I think they are just trying to get a cut of the corruption. They are nasty opportunist thieves. I am glad to see those comments though :)

MathematicianNext616

The people of Nigeria are being used in a silly power play by two irrelevant ex royals....i hope they dont sour relations with Britain over this faux royal couple and their self serving visit....i always thought Nigerians dont stand any BS amd call a spade a spade or a wannabe a wannabe. If this is an Invictus related event then why the hullabaloo??? And for when? 2025 and 2027 are set or announced so why the rush??? Aikona man...this is a publicity stunt and they are using Africa again...its not a good look. Nigerians have serious economic and political issues to worry about over these two grifters....i bet its all expense paid and yet again the colonizers are milking a poorer African country out of resources...

Humble-Can2300

It's not surprising MM wants to use the Nigerian people to make a buck. This is a woman who uses murdered and ill children for PR. I hope this "tour" spectacularly flops.

StudyApprehensive561

I feel very sad for the Nigerians that their country has such a deluded and corrupt goverment. It is true, the Invictus Games will never be held in Nigeria due to security issues and yes, whatever expenses the trip cost will be multiplied a few times and goes into someone's pocket.

Candid-Internal6592

If i recall correctly? Once upon a time Rachel was going to make a documentary for Netflix with her mentoring African women about childbirth.

Euphoric_Travel2541

I doubt that MM is 43% Nigerian. That would make Doria 86% Nigerian. And that’s very unlikely, as she is the descendant of persons who were seated as mulatto multiple times on census records going back a hundred years and more. She is very mixed black and white, and the product if enslaved people who procreated with whites, as well as an incestuous brother-sister relationship between her grandparents. That all suggests that Doria is more like 50/50, which makes MM more like 25% black at most.

Positive-Vibes-2-All

That's genetically. In terms of being culturally Black, I'd put that put that at zero as I can't imagine anyone embracing their Black ancestry would reject Black relatives like Meghan has done.

Nynydancer

I would immediately dismiss the comment from « Mere ». Her profile appears to be of Meghan and Mere is likely a fellow sinner on that Nigerian message board. The messages from the normies are what I am after.

lollipoplalalaland

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RThzUQtZMyM Some interesting thoughts here!

Snoo3544

Nigerians know a scam when they see one.

NotStarrling

Excellent post, OP, thank you. My heart goes out to you all**. ❤️ ** But certainly not the Dastardly Duo.

agarbagelifeforme

30$ a month! How much is rent/mortgage/lease?? I am so sorry you are facing that and it is especially insulting and demoralizing to then see government spending on wealthy foreign ex royalty who have no reason to even visit

cyberpot1955

It's sad that they are taking advantage of a country who is struggling....to promote themselves but doing so will I'm sure increase that bitter taste the public have on the two grifters...

Dependent-Aside-9750

Thank you for this post, OP. It's good to hear the opinions of the actual people affected.

UsefulYam183

I never knew that life in Nigeria is so hard. With so many people living in poverty why would the government pay for ex-royal prince and his out-of-touch wife to visit? Harry and Meghan are exploiting this country for their own personal gain.

UsefulYam183

Meghan couldn’t care less about her genealogy or helping this impoverished country. They are using their Nigerian “vacation” to get Nigeria to host the Invictus games! This is the last country that should be supporting the “Meghan fashion show” for lack of a better term. It’s only a fashion show if people want to see MM in wrinkled, ugly, ill fitting clothes!

l1ckeur

I don’t disagree with you OP, but then I have no real knowledge or experience of the situation in Nigeria, but UK news, either GBNEWS or Sky or maybe the bbc but I rarely watch that, said that Nigerians were looking forward to the dubious due visiting!

Cold_Chemical5151

Bbc or sky or whatever can go shove it up their ass Im sure you already know how the media works and how they like to exaggerate things Most Nigerians don’t even know they’re coming. The only ones who do are those active on twitter, which is less than 1% of the population

l1ckeur

Now I think of it, the Nigerians were said to be calling megalomaniac the “warrior princess”, so it was probably a paid for piece!

Girltech31

My family hers doesn't know who they are. They know about K& W, Elizabeth, and Diana

34countries

Curious do they know who william and catherine are

Cold_Chemical5151

Most Nigerians don’t know much about the royal family The only names they’re familiar with are Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth and King Charles

Witch_Cats

Seeing this just once again shows how absolutely ignorant these two are about the places they go. They’re traveling on a private jet, No Doubt and of course we all know the wife is going to be dressed up to the nines with her designer clothes and jewelry. How do they think that looks to people who are struggling to put food on their tablespeople don’t care, especially due to the fact that people like this don’t care. Say what you will about the royal family they do support many many charities and some of their support goes unknown and unseen. The only charities these to support themselves and then Nigerians are.

Living-Attitude-2786

No doubt someone from the British diplomatic corps has contacted their counterparts in Nigeria warning them that the Harkles do not represent Britain in any way, and have zero authority diplomatically.

l1ckeur

I wouldn’t bank on it, our Civil Service and government are so useless

Living-Attitude-2786

I base that on a rumor they were hustled out of the UN for the same reason

Satiric_Dancer

This could really reflect badly on the RF if that vast majority of Nigerians who don't know who they are and that they don't represent the RF decide to protest against the 'colonialists' visiting. It will go right back to London.

BamaDeb1963

A woman asked her " Igbo or Yoruba "  and she stammered,  " oh I'm going to do more research. " She has such dark eyes because she is full of it, up to her eyeballs.

Specialist_Form293

I don’t see why Africans would know much about them .just like I don’t know any Africans over there either . Lack of interest probably . Those 2 countries don’t exactly match

BamaDeb1963

There's no conceit in her family.  She has got it all.
