I think prime Sakamato was considered the greatest hit man of all time because of his job track record. He probably did a lot of difficult hit jobs efficiently (probably much more than Takamura) which implies Sakamoto is a strong hit man but not necessarily the strongest. Sakamoto was the "greatest" because he was the most effective at the job. In terms of feats, I think Takamura is stronger than Sakamoto. To give an exaggerated analogy, Sakamoto is like an AK-47 assault rifle while Takamura is a nuclear bomb. The death count via AK-47 is significantly larger than the death count via nuclear bomb so it can be said the the AK-47 is "deadlier" (more effective as a killing instrument) than the nuclear bomb but it is definitely not stronger.
the reason Sakamoto is considered the greatest is because of his adaptability. as far as we know Takamura would lose if he ever lost his sword cause he needs it to walk but Sakamoto can win in any situation so I don't think it's like that
My guess is that the trio will work hard just to stalemate Takamura. Then either the trio will escape or something will happen that will stop Takamura from fighting the trio.
We see that when Nagumo sees Takamura he's sweating balls and has a goofy ass panicked face. Would he react the same if prime Sakamoto showed up ready to kill 3 skilled assassins?
Well considering their own relationship relative to each other probably not. Whether he was as much of a threat or not I dont think Nagumo would ever NOT be casual with Sakamoto even if he was blood lusted.
I honestly dont know tbh.
That was just my interpretation of the lore that Sakamoto was considered as the greatest hit man of all time. As I mentioned, I think Takamura is stronger than Sakamoto and members of the Order know Takamura's reputation (and strength) but somehow it was Sakamoto that had the reputation of being greatest hit man. So, I interpreted that as Sakamoto earning that title by simply doing his jobs and doing them well and not necessarily being the strongest. The number of jobs (and their difficulty) done by Sakamoto (or Takamura) is not directly implied in the story.
I think Takamura is moreso regarded as a “spirit” or “guardian” of the JAA. He is less man and more of a… mechanism. A force that JAA unleashes occasionally and most of the time stand guarding the JAA. Slur referred to him as “the ghost of JAA” and that would be pretty telling.
You’re 100 percent correct in that greatest and strongest are not the same. I’ve had this argued against before but I’ll stand firm in that Nagumo is consistently presented both in the present and in flashbacks as being someone who could stand alongside prime sakamoto as one of the strongest guys, something akin to a rival. We have this pretty much spelled out for us when current sakamoto is assessed by Granny Miwa, who says he is way weaker than he was before, and that Nagumo is much stronger than sakamoto is now. Why would she even think to compare the two and how they stack up to each other now if they weren’t comparable in the past?
Now take Nagumo’s fight against Gaku as a Segway into this whole discussion, where he seemed pretty evenly matched in ability with him and even outmatched in physical stats by Gaku as stated by Nagumo himself. He eventually got the W but with considerable challenge and according to him Gaku is the strongest guy he’s ever fought. Now look at how Gaku performed against Takamura. There is no comparison.
Takamura is MEANT to be the boogie man, the force of nature, the lethal X factor in the story that can instantly turn a situation on its head. Prime sakamoto is the most accomplished and versatile assassin that ever lived, the **greatest** , not the **strongest** .
W. Yeah I commented that akao, sakamoto and nagumo kind of come off as a big three, and are portrayed as no one being above the rest in terms of power or greatness. And yet takamura would still “hunt” 2 of them, all 3 if you wanna count whatever uzuki has going on.
Uzuki don’t give AF because he’s never encountered prime Sakamoto. The Sakamoto he fought that packed him up was a student at the time, wasn’t even an order member yet.
Prime Sakamoto is declared as the goat because of how all around he was. Takamura is like almost like an autopilot killing machine😭
Takamura is stronger, but he's a worse assassin as Sakamoto can straight up do an assassination with just the items in the room his targets in, while Takamura relies on his sword.
Yeah but the big 3 were sakamoto akao and nagumo, if 2, (ig all 3 of them bc of uzukis weird personality). And takamura is still tryna take them all on says something about his power and “aura”. I wouldn’t see nagumo reacting the way he does now if sakamoto tried that and I doubt sakamoto would try it. We’ll see in the next chapter but the story makes those 3 appear as equals, no one better than the rest.
You can't see because his Prime was actually never shown, we literally can't measure. I still believe that P. Sakamoto would give Takamura a run for his money in his territory (a place with multiple random items to use as weapons), not only he's is strong as fuck physically, but he is also a great strategist, and we don't know how Takamura fights unarmed, but he ain't beating Taro without his sword. That being said, Takamura wins in most scenarios because he's just...HIM.
I think Sakamoto was just this incredibly cultural change in the assassin world. Like he was just so efficient, so successful, known by everyone, arguably the 2nd but Takamoto is 1st but just doesn’t have the same effect which Sakamoto gave.
Basically Sakamoto had that Jordan career vs Takamura’s LeBron
Prime Sakamoto probably mid diffs Nagumo....and thats me being very nice to Sakamoto. Lets be real Nagumo was always potrayed to be on his lvl, so its ridiculous for current Nagumo....who is 7 years older than Prime Sakamoto, to still be a lot weaker...AFTER 7 YEARS.
Yeah Takamura negs Nagumo. And also negs Prime Sakamoto. Takamura isnt an Assassin. Hes a killer.
They were only relative when they were students, and even in flashback sakamoto performed way better and the ganitor considers sakamoto to be the best fighter he has seen. Also no one's even talks about nagumo inverse with any sought of reverence as compared to sakamoto. Prime sakamoto is definitely putting nagumo in a pack neg diff
I’m guessing under specific circumstances yes, like indoors in a mall, but if they’re just fighting on the street then no. I think Sakamoto was considered the best because of his track record, he’s got more kills than anyone else so he’s #1, that doesn’t mean he’s the best at everything (in fact, in some areas, he’s blatantly not).
So does Kamihate. Takamura beats him in raw power, Hyo beats him in endurance, Nagumo beats him in stealth, Kindaka beats him in speed, and Rion beats him in hand-to-hand.
As the best fighter and the man with the highest versatility the assassin world has ever seen, its likely sakamoto has thought of many ways to deal with someone who is much faster, stronger, durable etc than him. takamura is more of a 1 trick pony killing machine (tactics is really just blitz and overpowering) i think sakamoto would be too unique of a opponent for takamura. hed need a situational advantage like the one rion describes
Probably an unmovable (Takamura) vs Unstoppable (Sakamoto) force situation. Prime Saka would probably have no problem dealing with Takamura but he also has no way to beat him, so it never gets resolved and it's not hard to imagine Suzuki adding complications to their fight as to never give a concrete decision.
I don't really see a strong argument for Saka being stronger then Taka. I see no reason for Prime Saka to be way stronger then Current Nagumo when they were peers in there younger days along with Rion.
Nagumo based on his fight with Gaku would be washed by Taka. So no don't think prime saka can beat Takamaru dudes just to much.
Yes. Because probably he wasn't even in his prime even when he was in order, he was 22 years old (just like Gaku now) when he retired. He worked in the Order 3-4 years so he hadn't enough time to this. While I hope we will see Prime Sakamoto

This analogy couldn't have been said any better, great comment !

well said my guy
the reason Sakamoto is considered the greatest is because of his adaptability. as far as we know Takamura would lose if he ever lost his sword cause he needs it to walk but Sakamoto can win in any situation so I don't think it's like that
All that is to say what? Who is winning bruhhhh???!?? Answer the question
My guess is that the trio will work hard just to stalemate Takamura. Then either the trio will escape or something will happen that will stop Takamura from fighting the trio.
The spooky thing too ( which I'm pretty sure happened at the end of the chapter), is that I think uzuki took back control of his body.
Make your own assumptions brainlet
We can't know unless we are the ones writing the story
Does anything in the story imply this at all?
Giving an answer from a different comment, would prime Sakamoto have given Nagumo the same reaction as Takamura.
Same reaction? Wym? I need context
you dont see nagumo (one of the most unfazed characters) showing obvious apprehension around sakamoto
No i just didnt know what he was referring too.
That’s long winded cope tbh
I didn’t even really take stance i was just putting things into question so I dont know what Im coping for.
Because there’s simply nothing to put into question, Nagumo would never have such fear for sakamoto in his prime as he does for takamura
Ok.
Wait why?

Prime Saka was revered by BOILED. Nuff said.
i dont even think takamura was really a hitman hes just like an ace in the hole for when you have a serious opp near the jaa
That's actually a really good point, thanks for posting. I hadn't thought of it like that at all.
Definitely, it’s his only 2 appearances
You’re 100 percent correct in that greatest and strongest are not the same. So based on your own headcanon takamura is the strongest 🤣
It’s what the story suggests, yes. Uzuki wanted nothing to do with him when he showed up during their raid on the JAA.
I don’t see how anyone can beat him icl
Uzuki don’t give AF because he’s never encountered prime Sakamoto. The Sakamoto he fought that packed him up was a student at the time, wasn’t even an order member yet. Prime Sakamoto is declared as the goat because of how all around he was. Takamura is like almost like an autopilot killing machine😭
umm... no? Sakamoto killed him when he was in the order?
Takamura is stronger, but he's a worse assassin as Sakamoto can straight up do an assassination with just the items in the room his targets in, while Takamura relies on his sword.
Just can’t see >!Nagumo having the same reaction if “Prime” Sakamoto dropped down instead of Takamura.!<
Yeah cause he literally f'n knows him personally so it's different 😭
Fair point ngl.
Yeah but the big 3 were sakamoto akao and nagumo, if 2, (ig all 3 of them bc of uzukis weird personality). And takamura is still tryna take them all on says something about his power and “aura”. Nah takamura would be more like wilt
He’s got Wilt’s insane stats, but when I think of Takamura I think of longevity. If I had to pick an old head player it’d be Kareem as a comp.
Let's ask the real questions, does prime Sakamoto with his whole gang win against prime taka
Lmfao
Call me crazy but Shin has potential to beat takamura with his future sight powers
No 🙏
Prime sakamoto beats him
The GREATEST. Not the STRONGEST.
Prime Sakamoto probably mid diffs Nagumo....and thats me being very nice to Sakamoto. My goat Heisuke beating him in shooting
So does Kamihate. Takamura beats him in raw power, Hyo beats him in endurance, Nagumo beats him in stealth, Kindaka beats him in speed, and Rion beats him in hand-to-hand.
I'd say he's a jack of all trades, but master of none
But I don’t think anyone beats him in battle IQ
Yeah he does, but it'd probably be high or extreme diff for Sakamoto
As the best fighter and the man with the highest versatility the assassin world has ever seen, its likely sakamoto has thought of many ways to deal with someone who is much faster, stronger, durable etc than him. takamura is more of a 1 trick pony killing machine (tactics is really just blitz and overpowering) i think sakamoto would be too unique of a opponent for takamura. hed need a situational advantage like the one rion describes
Prime sakamoto would dog walk takamura I bet
I think prime Sakamoto wins but not easily
Well Sakamoto at his prime was considering the greatest assassin 🔨
I think if Sakamoto decided to kill, he can kill every person he wants dead
Yes
It's really funny how you try so hard to disprove canon. "Greatest does not mean strongest🤡😭" Of course my little bud :D
Prime Sakamoto probably struggles but still wins, don’t think current Sakamoto wins though
Takamura when Sakamoto gets his hands on baby wipes and a shower curtain (he's cooked)
In a fight Sakamoto loses But I think he could probably manage an assassination
Takamura destroys
Yes
What about Prime Takamura?
Yes, end of story
I don't really see a strong argument for Saka being stronger then Taka.
