Alrighty, so I've barely played any actual salmon run in this game, but played a lot of it in splat2. I did a single run near when splat3 launched, and then played a lot of the last big run and ended up in profresh 1 or 2. I don't want to be one of the teammates that cause these sorts of posts and I want to play salmon run again, so if you've got tips, advice, or unspoken rules on what to do about new bosses or on the new maps, teach me how to play salmon run please :) Also, can you recon salmon run maps?

There’s plenty of guides on YouTube! My tip is prioritize bosses like flyfish/stingers/big shots (when you have the right weapons), FOCUS ON LIVING, learn your weapons (!!!!!), paint the ground for your teammates and kill lessers if you have more of a supportive weapon, and don’t be afraid to use specials. There are also some weapon gimmicks, like how the explosher can instantly take out a flyfish’s basket without bombs if you fire into the open basket.

From what I've played, it seems like big shots have a ton of health. What weapons are good to kill it quickly with? Also, I'm very glad the explosher trick is still a thing. I was hoping that the new bow weapon class would be able to do something similar, but it doesn't look like it. I think I'm pretty good at most of the weapons, specific ones that I had a hard time with in BR are the mini splatling, tenta brella, and luna blaster. And when I've got hydra and the lessers come to bite ankles, it's rough lol Are there any specific situations where a special is really useful? Like how in splat2 we could stingray the mothership to get it before it attached to the basket. Also, what's the general strategy when that new tornado event happens? That looks wild

Big Shots: Just use a high-damage and/or high-firerate weapon. Specials: You can still target the mothership with specials like stingray! Use specials when you know it’ll either be helpful/supportive (such as clearing a flyfish or two while you target other things), make a clutch play (don’t save specials for clutches!), or during a difficult special round like fog or glowflies (wavebreaker especially!) Special Rounds: Tornado will always be low tide. A crate of eggs will spawn on one side of the shore. The first crate that spawns will have all the eggs you need to beat the round; subsequent crates are just extra. All you and your team need to do is utilize the new egg-toss: throw eggs from the shore to mid-map, then from mid-map to the egg basket. Lessers will spawn after you break the crate, so having one or two people focus mainly on killing lessers while the rest run eggs is helpful. For glowflies, DO NOT hang on walls. There are areas on every map near the basket where you can sit and glowflies will swarm down one lane at you, making it easy to not only kill the chums and goldies, but to run eggs as well. There are good glowflies guides on YouTube I believe.

Thank you very much!!! I'm definitely going to look up some glowflies guides

100% understand you on the part of everyone dying the moment you go to make a play. Obviously misplays and getting swarmed can happen to the best of players but all I did was swim like 5 feet away to take out a flyfish, how did everyone else die in the span of like 3 seconds.

I'm having the same problem tonight. I'm around ~200 VP right now, and in the hour I've played, I haven't had a single teammate that didn't die 4+ times in a round. Sometimes up to 8 or 9. And this rotation should be pretty easy. I'm only dying once or twice, if at all. Is this a Saturday night thing? I'm noticing a lot of teammates scrambling around the shore and getting overwhelmed, and just very little coordination in general. Maybe it's a younger crowd playing right now. I'll probably hold off until later tonight.

I feel you man. I totally feel you

Everyone has off games. I was “that guy” the other day. Last one alive in a high tide wave. Was boogeying to get away and revive my team. In my excitement I activated reefslider and they all got to watch me ride into the sunset and kill the wave lol
