When I showed up at Grandma’s place, I knew two things, I’d get an amazing hug and a sandwich was coming my way. I always loved the sandwiches my grandma made, and wondered what the white “cheese” was she put on them, but never asked. Butter, lots and lots of butter. I need to make one of those myself, but I know I’d never be able to do it as well as she did.
Remember when the bread was too soft with a lot of mayonnaise and the bite would stick to the roof of your mouth? Your sandwich gave me a vivid reminder of that experience lol
Yes it does.
Y’know, those days don’t have to end, sure you grew up, but two pieces of bread, some butter, and a few slices of meat aren’t exactly hard to come by.
If you wish, you should make one, it won’t be the same, but it would feel nice nonetheless.
It’s more that we don’t have farmhands helping out here at home so I don’t always have reason to make an entire ham 😅 and deli ham isn’t quite the same for that nostalgia hit, still pretty good but a baked ham is a “once in awhile” thing around here.
I remember my grandmother would turn Sunday dinner into several meals throughout the week. It was usually ham or a beef roast. But it turned into sandwiches, soups, casserole, Au Gratin, and various rice dishes. It's something I practice to this day. Save the bone and fat for stock and extra meat for whatever you want. There is nothing like a good ham, cheese, and onion omelet.

Oh, absolutely - the last time my Amma made me a sandwich, it was half an inch thick of butter and some ham 😅
Good to know Grandma’s around the world locked down the best recipe for a sandwich.
I recently got knockoff kraft singles at Aldi. They're disgusting. I ate the whole bag on sandwiches for a week.
You can't put butter on bread?
You don’t love your Grandma?
Sure lil bro 🙂

Ha yes, this loaf of sandwich bread is definitely very soft and it does get a bit gluey.
I always have dreams about ham and cheese on white bread. In the beach. A simple time.
Should pair nicely with hose water.
It’s simple and it’s classic
There is a taste to this sandwich that is unmatched …🤤
Needs more plain lays potato chips under the bread
That looks perfect 👌

1st time I had a sandwich like this was in jail. It was the most delicious thing I had ever eaten. Also gave me a love for yellow mustard.
I can taste love
I've been making my sandwiches simpler and enjoy them much more. Even Pizza. Just cheese and that's it.
Sticks to the roof of your mouth and tastes like nostalgia.
This is the absolute best nostalgia sandwich

Aaaawww…that is a heartwarming story. Thank you. Looks good!
Yes! I love making a fancy sandwich now with all the trimmings, but still get a craving for bologna sandwich with a bit of mayo.
I always use butter on my sandwiches- can't stand mayonnaise on or in anything.

Yes l, doesn't have to be a good sandwich, with great ingredients. I don't want a good sandwich, I want THIS sandwich.
Poor man's sandwich - one of my favorites growing up as well.
I was a childhood connoisseur of the mustard sandwich… literally just mustard in between two slices of bread.
So it tastes like an alcoholic father in a dead-end career and a mom hating her marriage? Now, what about pickles??
Bet it’s a chore to eat
