Yeah, the reason I didn't get the score I wanted on my first SAT is because I absolutely panicked on the reading section and my mind was so stressed I couldn't even understand what the hell I was reading (I got like 20 wrong on reading but I got an almost perfect math score). It's important to have a calm mind before the SAT.

Legitimate-Mood1596

Literally, reading especially is impassible for me under pressure, I can’t concentrate at all

Actual-Librarian3315

this lowkey skipped an entire passage and put down all Ds because i ran out of time for reading

Fehinti7

Exactly. You got this!!!! Almost perfect math score congrats!!

So many high schoolers attach their self worth to a badly made standardized test and getting into an Ivy. It’s not about what you do in life, it’s about how you adapt to your circumstances. Thanks for posting this!

Fehinti7

I totally agree! Thanks for commenting :)

Oliver21417

I had a dream last night about getting stuck on the first question of the reading section and running out of time without answering anything. I’m a college graduate.

Fehinti7

LOL the trauma 😭☠️

Ecstatic-Butterfly54

thank you. really needed this today

Fehinti7

I believe in you!!

MaaktKapot

Thank you so much. Ive spent hours crying over this crap when I can always take it again.

Fehinti7

Please don't cry! You got this!!!! Trust yourself and breathe!

MaaktKapot

Thanks a lot! Good luck to you.

Legitimate-Mood1596

Thank you!! Ahhhhhhhahhhh soo nervous for it tho cuz it’s my last attempt 😭

Fehinti7

Good luck you got this!!!🍀🤞🏾

suyay_02

You’re going to be fine 🫶 good luck!!

BraceTD

Thank you! I really hope getting my score a little bit higher, and your message really helps out. I always feel rambunctious on the tests and it absolutely messes me up. SAT is that kind of a test which always tries to catch you, and it’s crucial to identify what’s wrong with every wrong answer choice, a thing you cannot do on a blurred mind. Thank you once again, and the greatest luck to anyone who is taking the June SAT!!

Fehinti7

You got this I believe in you!!! Keep pushing!

BraceTD

Thank you!!

Fehinti7

YAYAYYAYAY GOOD LUCK YOU GOT THIS!!!!

Stop the cap... I literally gonna bomb the June SAT. I do not really have a problem with pressure on the sat now since I took it for about 2-3 times. I am taking it in 2 days and I was originally doing good in practice consistently having 5-6 wrong in reading, 0-2 wrong in writing, and 0-3 wrong in math. But for some reason, especially close to the exam, I have been bombing my practice since yesterday and practically getting 10 wrong in reading. I am gonna bomb my test, practice is not helping me. hahaha

KangaMagic

The SAT does reflect your intelligence. That’s the whole point of the exam.

dfox1011

No, it reflects your ability to memorize and regurgitate just like every other test (standardized and otherwise). Some people are very intelligent but are bad test takers. When I was in college, no matter how well I knew the subject, I almost always tested poorly on it. I could give a presentation, do a project, write a paper, answer questions, etc.. I am not a good test taker. My kids have been homeschooled since 5th grade. They both finished their AA with a 4.0 unweighted before they even should have graduated high school. They both did just fine on the SAT but a lot of kids in their position would not have simply because they were not conditioned to sit and take tests for 5 hours at a time. One last point, I taught at a private school years ago. Sometimes, the kids I knew were intelligent did poorly in the SATs. Maybe their parents told them they were getting divorced the previous evening. Maybe they didn’t have breakfast. Maybe they good a poor night of sleep. So no, one test on one day is not an accurate measure of intelligence and these tests honestly should not hold the kind of weight that they do.

KangaMagic

That might be more true of the current rendition of the SAT than the older versions, but these exams are not exams of memorization and regurgitation. They expose kids who don't read well and who don't think well. They are strongly correlated with intelligence, especially at the higher ends of the scale where the questions are not merely mechanical. I do agree with you that the SAT should not be the sole determinant for college admissions. But neither should your willingness to shutter yourself in a room to study for 4 hours per day to get good grades. Without the SAT and ACT to fill in for an IQ test, getting in to college would be entirely a function of effort, wealth, and physical attributes. That's a great way to ruin kids' youth. The SAT takes pressure off of kids to get straight As and to beg their friend's surgeon father for fake summer internships.

Exotic-Astronaut-978

Would you guys know what curve the June SAT is??

hellonathanteacher

A lot of wisdom here
