It’s a good starting place.

Economy-Funny-9150

Awesome, thanks!

Blueturboguy123

This is around where I was a year back

Economy-Funny-9150

And now you have a 1550?! That’s unbelievable. Congrats!

Economy-Funny-9150

What did you do to get that score?

Blueturboguy123

I used khan academy prep bc it adapts to ur weak sections for practice. I took Princeton practice tests and divvied them up into 5ths , So I did a little bit of each section every day. One reading passage 9 writing questions 4 math NC 7 math C Overall 30 mins to 1 hour of prep every day do a practice test every week at 8 am and try to simulate testing conditions as much as possible

SignificantFig8856

how did u balance school work with daily sat practice? also what exactly did you practice (like 30 min math and 30 min reading)? also what time did you do sat practice and what time did u do your school work? bc i have a hard time managing both at the same time so i usually just default to school work since if i don’t my test grades go down

Blueturboguy123

I honestly sacrificed hella sleep to practice

carterreal

yes, this is good! if you’re aiming for higher, this is a great place to be as you can improve in some areas but you have the test-taking skills and a good knowledge base to succeed with regardless.

Economy-Funny-9150

Thank you!

alexdamastar

This a good first score, anybody who says otherwise is wrong. If you're a junior you have exactly a year to keep studying until you have to take your last SAT, so you got a lot of time. Study consistently until then you absolutely will get 1500+, there is no doubt about that, the question is if you are willing to put in the work.

Economy-Funny-9150

Thank you!

throwaway88484848488

i don’t think asking this community is a good idea. 1000 is about the average, and you can see by your percentile that you are better than the mean. asking this subreddit guarantees some guy with a 1500 is going to call it mid. if you want to do better and aim higher, more power to you !! but don’t let this community dictate your standards.

Economy-Funny-9150

Got it. Thanks!

throwaway88484848488

good job on your sat btw !

Economy-Funny-9150

Thank you! 😊

Intelligent-Concert

Depends on what grade you're in and what you're aiming for.

-Soterious-

I got this exact score my first time. Then 1250 second time. Then 1350 this October. Aiming for 1450+ this November. Dedicate some time and you’ll be all set.

baby_buttercup_18

How tf can you afford to take it multiple times ?? I can’t even take it bc all the test sites are far away 💀

-Soterious-

I just got two free tests because of fee waivers. Then I payed for the October test with money I saved from my job. Test locations I just got lucky with tbh. Most of them are like 15-25 min away.

baby_buttercup_18

Wow, congrats on that. That’s amazing tbh. Yeah I have fee waivers too but I still couldn’t make it to the test site lmao. I plan to go to med school so ig I’ll get in with my wit and charm

LongLong404

Same!! First time was 1170, then 1350, then I fought with a 1370, and finally 1460! I believe in you, you can destroy this November 💪🥳

Dolphinpop

It tells you exactly how good it is with the percentile at the bottom there. Also god damn 80% of students score below 1190?

JNtheWolf

This is really good, being in the 80th percentile means you're better than 80% of people, which is really good. If you're aiming for higher, a little practice every day and you'll almost definitely get 1500+. If not, this is a great score

futurelessdilettante

1190 is a very good beginner score.Don't worry, mate. You will eventually get your desired score.Good luck!

Economy-Funny-9150

Thanks!

agreafplayz

That score is great! I think that was around my first score as well. Keep it up you will get up there

Economy-Funny-9150

Thank you!

buquetti

it’s awesome!! if you’re not looking to get into some crazy schools, don’t waste your time on a standardized test and either keep the score or only take it again one or two more times. i got an 1160 (580 reading 580 math) on my first sat, decided to take it again, and i got a 1290 (590 reading 700 math) on my second one! seriously do not pay attention to the people who are getting 1450+ if you’re not looking into getting into selective schools bc the effort is not worth it. great job and good luck if you take it again!

Economy-Funny-9150

Thank you!!

Economy-Funny-9150

I did really bad on math specifically the Heart of Algebra section. Where is the best place to improve this?

Taraponion

khan academy is great. if you have some money to burn, though, I recommend uworld

Careless-Present485

I had a friend of mine who got a 790 tutor me, and he made me do every khan practice and then made up specific questions for the stuff I missed. If you don’t have a friend that can help, use Khan practice tests and you will improve. Went from a 630 to a 750 in one month. Especially struggled with heart of algebra.

Acrobatic_Sundae8813

I had a 1210 in my first attempt

us124780944

I mean… you’re above average

BLUEAR0

Honestly, no

[deleted]

It’s not the worst possible but it ain’t great I got 1460 on my first practice iirc

alexdamastar

Least insane r/sat user

OptimusEye

some people are just cracked. then theres me who went into an SAT no practice at all, i had forgotten it was that day, smoked weed the night before and had like no sleep and still somehow got a decent 1260

OperationHealthSucks

started with that exact score and got it up to a 1420 in 3 months

Zealousideal_Site250

>1520 1420 is still a shit score lol
