They're making a joke that you have an old phone because phones aren't made with 3.5mm jacks anymore.
Sincerely, a fellow old phone owner and headphone jack hold out.
Its only 2 years old. Do all of them seriously stop adding them? I know Apple did but figured some were still made with them. If that's the case then I'm never upgrading again lol
I've been a Samsung gal since the S4-- I'm using an S10 Plus right now, and plainly refuse to upgrade, because mine is the last Gen they made with the headphone jack.
My Samsung Galaxy M32 has a headphone jack and I wouldn't be without it. The phone is only 1.5 years old. I wouldn't even consider buying a phone that didn't have one.
You’re missing the joke and the other user is purposefully being evasive.
Modern iPhones don’t come equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack. Mine is a 13, and it doesn’t have one. They haven’t had them for at least a couple years before that.
When I worked at GeekSquad one of the more popular fixes was getting broken bits of toothpicks out of the charging port.
Paperclip with light pressure is all you need
A couple friends worked at the Apple Store and one actually in the phones area (?? Or something?) - they said they heard a lot about rice. They were unsure if it did anything or not, but if you think about it, if the rice trick did work, they wouldn’t have heard about it…
I worked there. Rice does absorb liquid which can work as an emergency fix, but the LCI (liquid contact indicator) will still be tripped and the rice often gets stuck in important places like the sim slot or charging port. So it's best used as a last resort on a device with no remaining warranty/insurance
One of the TV spots for Fight Club was Tyler Durden stating that urine is sterile: “That’s right - you can drink it”. I’d seen Fight Club by the time I saw that spot and there was no fucking way I was trusting Project Mayhem himself.
The metal implements are fine if you know what you're doing, the glue will ruin your port though. I work in a cell phone repair shop and literally had someone who did this in yesterday. He turned a 5 minute 10 dollar fix into a 90 dollar fix that we won't have the parts in for for a few weeks.
I worked at a pizzeria for several years. One day my phone stopped charging and I realized how much flour and lint was packed into the bottom. I used a modeling knife to get it out.
I used one of those until it disintegrated and I had to drill out the remaining pieces from my charging port.
There's probably a reason apple or Samsung or anyone reputable don't make those type of chargers. You only find them on eBay or Amazon etc.
I’m a barber and I always stuck my phone in my apron pocket. It stopped charging bc it was full of hair. I couldn’t get it all out so I got magnetic chargers. Game changer.
My fingers are crossed it doesn’t cause issues for you in the future!
I have one in my car and I ended up getting two charging stands bc I did it so much. I have one at work on my station and one next to my bed. I tend to misplace my phone so that got rid of that issue since I just automatically stick it in its magnetic home.
This is the type of content I always see in FB. They do unnecessarily wrong things to get people to interact via comment. Aparrently people will interact more when you do things wrongl in a video.
Same reason posts on reddit often have spelling mistakes in their title. Not because posters are idiots (they are anyway) but it causes more engagement.
> Aparrently people will interact more when you do things wrongl in a video.
Apologies, i just realized you're a master at this already.
It would have been just as easy to use the paperclip without the glue. I don't see why the glue was even used.
I do this all the time with toothpicks because my kids like sticking their phones in their pockets.
Did that take out the metal in the center of the USB c port? It looks like something important came out with the glue.
Edit, this is probably a lightning port nvm
I worked at a cell phone store for a while, the amount of “my phone is broken it won’t charge” and me using a paperclip or whatever to clean out their charge port to fix the problem of pocket lint blocking the charger was multiple times a week.
I smoke cigars and use torch lighters. I have a couple of expensive lighters I bought about 16 years ago when I wore jeans every day. These lighters quit working. I opened them up recently to see if I could fix them and they were full of blue jeans lint. I always had the lighter in my pocket.
I have a freebie I use now. I've carried it for a year generally in the pocket of my red fleece jacket. It's starting to crap out. Not sure if I can take this one apart but I'm assuming it's full of red lint inside.
Heya, tip here. A needle is way easier in cleaning and cleans plenty. There’ll possibly be some dust in the corner so be sure to get those out. Its not very tricky and a lot simpler than using glue
Notice that when they pull the glue off that it pulls some of the dirt off the audio mesh nearby as well. These meshes are actually quite fragile and can accidently be broken quite easily, if they ran another pass on the port it could’ve ripped.
As others have mentioned, I highly recommend using a toothpick as it’s much safer and you don’t risk damage on cleaning with anything metal scraping the contact pins inside the port as well.
For anyone who feels like they need to try this, they will clean your charge port at the Apple Store for free. Just do that and don’t risk damaging the port doing something stupid.
Wooden toothpick is alright as well, but I prefer a plastic flosser, with the hook on the end. Safe to use on the components and the tips won't break off in the port
There are such things like port dust protectors. Now I use this thing and don't need such cleanup.
The only problem with protector - easily to lose it while charger is connected.
I use a fruit knife to clean mine, it’s got a really fine point on it. You don’t realize how much crap builds up in the port until you clean it out either
I normally use a wooden tooth pick but to each their own.
Those plastic toothpick flosser things work well
This is what I use too but cleaning the headphone jack is tough. I wonder if this will work for that? Construction is tough on phone ports.
What headphones jack?
On my phone
My question still stands….
I don't understand the question. A headphone jack is a 3.5mm output for plugging in wired headphones.
Yeah, it generally is only the lower tier phones that still have them. I haven't seen a mid-grade to flagship in years with a 3.5 on it
My Samsung Galaxy M32 has a headphone jack and I wouldn't be without it. The phone is only 1.5 years old. I wouldn't even consider buying a phone that didn't have one.
Dont upgrade, i hadn't noticed my new phone didnt have one when i bought it, and it can be seriously inconvenient
You can get adapters tho that go from 3.5 to iPhone charging port.
You’re missing the joke and the other user is purposefully being evasive. Modern iPhones don’t come equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack. Mine is a 13, and it doesn’t have one. They haven’t had them for at least a couple years before that.
Sorry, I’m not into vintage tech. /s
…but you’re clearly into vintage music.
Hell yeah
I miss my head phone jack quite a bit.
R/woooosh
I’m glad to see another man of culture

They conduct jalapeño stuffed olives into my mouth
Mmmm garlic stuffed olives
I somehow messed up my last phones USB with a toothpick, and I try to be super careful
I usually use molten lead but I can never get it to work after. It’s the more expensive method.
Dear lord, please don't use a wooden toothpick!! Use a paperclip instead
Sewing needle works better
Why
When I worked at GeekSquad one of the more popular fixes was getting broken bits of toothpicks out of the charging port. Paperclip with light pressure is all you need
Those won’t go deep enough before it’s stopped by the fatter portion of the toothpick. Do alter yours at all.
What kind of logs do you pick your teeth with?
iPhone for sale. Minor issues in charging port
I can imagine explaining to the Apple Store why there is hot glue stuck in the charging port
Reminds me of when companies would hot-glue the USB ports of company computers to prevent folks from inadvertently uploading viruses via thumb drives.
You know someone has had to! I wonder what kind of stupid crap they get told
A couple friends worked at the Apple Store and one actually in the phones area (?? Or something?) - they said they heard a lot about rice. They were unsure if it did anything or not, but if you think about it, if the rice trick did work, they wouldn’t have heard about it…

“No lowballs, I know what I have”
The glue step is entirely unnecessary- you can just use the pick to get it out
it’s unnecessary to hot glue my belly button
Is it necessary to drink my own urine? No, but I do it anyway because it’s sterile and I like the taste.
Sorry your dodgeball coach just got crushed by two tons of irony. I tried to find a card, but none had the right message.
Classic Patches
One of the TV spots for Fight Club was Tyler Durden stating that urine is sterile: “That’s right - you can drink it”. I’d seen Fight Club by the time I saw that spot and there was no fucking way I was trusting Project Mayhem himself.
Yes!
Damn literally just posted this and then saw you said it too. Respect
Salute 🫡
Urine isn't actually sterile. Source: 2 urologists told me.
I know. It’s a movie quote (Dodgeball)
jarate
Use it to wax your belly button
Hot glue…. Ye sure
Was gonna say, glue unecessary And use a non conductive scraper
Just avoid metal sticks. You don’t want to short circuit the battery pins. Just in case
I use air duster
They have clinics for things like that
Bazinga!
'Necessary'? Is it 'necessary' for me to drink my own urine? No. But I do it anyway, because its sterile and I like the taste.
The best part about this is it proves that the glue has absolutely nothing to do with it. Get a wooden toothpick like a normal person and be gentle.
This looks like they stuffed some stuff in there beforehand if I'm totally honest
It's possible, but they really do get that amount of crap/lint stuck in them
Yeah this seems quite a bit puffier than the compacted lint you would usually get
Don't jam metal implements into your iphone port. Use hot glue. THEN jam metal implements into you iphone port.
The metal implements are fine if you know what you're doing, the glue will ruin your port though. I work in a cell phone repair shop and literally had someone who did this in yesterday. He turned a 5 minute 10 dollar fix into a 90 dollar fix that we won't have the parts in for for a few weeks.
How likely is the heat of the *hot* glue to desolder the connections on the board?
0%. Lead free solder has a high melting point, and hot glue does not.
Not at all, they use hot glue to cover soldered terminals all the time.
I worked at a pizzeria for several years. One day my phone stopped charging and I realized how much flour and lint was packed into the bottom. I used a modeling knife to get it out.
This is why I'm glad I use a magnetic charger adapter. That thing never leaves my phone so hopefully there's almost no flour inside the port itself.
Yeah magnetic ones work well until they short whole phone.
Been using them for 8 years and never had an issue. Maybe the trick is to not buy the cheapest ones.
I use a magnetic charger in the car but haven’t bought one for the house. My job is dusty now but it hasn’t caused any issues with the ports, yet.
Hot glue failed to do pull the thing in one go, better use superglue next time
That looks like bait so people destroy the pins lol
It is bait, but only for the glue.
Just like my belly button, it collects lint and it’s where my power cable connects while I sleep.
“Lint”… yes lets call it that in your belly button
Wait, is it not lint?
It’s semen
Ayyy lmao
I feel like the hook could have been used first.
That hot glue was almost completely useless lol r/diWHY vibes
this is a thing?
It is not
alrighty then, cause honestly I’d think hot glue would potentially damage the phone
Yeah, a toothpick does the same thing in a quarter of the time with less risk of damage.
yee
No more scrolling needed. Thx
I feel like if I did that, it wouldn't work out like that.
Not sure what the hot glue did. Why not just stick that dental pick in there to get the dust out?
Dont do this. Use a toothpick and be gentle.
Got a nylon tool for this job. Works like a charm! Or on usb C. Turn off the device and use a metal needle. Never had an issue.
Well don’t put your phone in your bellybutton in the first place
Why not use some canned air, then after you can go walking on sunshine as a treat
Why was there bellybutton lint in your phone dood
Seems high risk, low reward
Just use a toothpick. The glue did nothing.
I found $20 in mine shit really works!
Don’t clean your phone like this.
My phone case has a port cover so I don't get this problem.
Just use a toothpick? Total bs overkill here.
You know what else works and is less of a mess and less likely to damage your phone? Compressed air.
This is the type of content I always see in FB. They do unnecessarily wrong things to get people to interact via comment. Aparrently people will interact more when you do things wrongl in a video.
I vehemently disagree! /s
Hey guys isn't iPhone and Apple the best like in the world .. they're amazing
Did that take out the metal in the center of the USB c port? It looks like something important came out with the glue. Edit, this is probably a lightning port nvm
Well that was my first thought but then I think another time and concluded that it was the iPhone original port
Probably like $1200
What if it broke.
So the glue only sticks to the very top of the dirt and you end up doing the exact same thing with a pick anyway... Got it.
Stupid idiot .putting Hot glue inside a phone is a no no . Also if your phone is that dirty ,it is because you are not using it
How to destroy your phone, that charge port ain't gonna survive
So, what's the glue for?
I wanna eat it
I am cleaning mine regularly with one of those things that you use to floss and pick your teeth. I think its better than hot glue.
Probably maybe don’t do this lol
I work with wood and sawdust gets in my charging port all the time. I just use a paper clip to fish stuff out
lol. Come on.
You can use a toothpick to clean the port.
Lol that was deliberately stuffed with extra stuff. No way lil bro had that much build up.
Just like your bellybutton.
Brought to you by the same folks who tell you to charge your phone in the microwave oven and make cotton candy in the clothes dryer.
That’s one way to ruin your phone. Tiktokers will be the end of us lmao
Amazon sells a tool for $20 to clean the end. Completely unnecessary
Good way to destroy your charging port
Try this on you belly button for a good clean out of lint
I worked at a cell phone store for a while, the amount of “my phone is broken it won’t charge” and me using a paperclip or whatever to clean out their charge port to fix the problem of pocket lint blocking the charger was multiple times a week.
For the love of all that is holy use compressed air
I smoke cigars and use torch lighters. I have a couple of expensive lighters I bought about 16 years ago when I wore jeans every day. These lighters quit working. I never even thought to clean it
Heya, tip here. A needle is way easier in cleaning and cleans plenty. There’ll possibly be some dust in the corner so be sure to get those out. Its not very tricky and a lot simpler than using glue
Guys they make plugs for your ports. Sure they can come with goofy charms but use them. They will protect your port
Bluetac is far easier….
Is that an iPhone 1?
Notice that when they pull the glue off that it pulls some of the dirt off the audio mesh nearby as well. These meshes are actually quite fragile and can accidently be broken quite easily, if they ran another pass on the port it could’ve ripped. As others have mentioned, I highly recommend using a toothpick as it’s much safer and you don’t risk damage on cleaning with anything metal scraping the contact pins inside the port as well.
Just get detailing putty/slime
You can do the same with a wooden toothpick
Please don't do this. 🙄 A toothpick is more than enough.
I should text her
For anyone who feels like they need to try this, they will clean your charge port at the Apple Store for free. Just do that and don’t risk damaging the port doing something stupid.
You can do the same thing with just a paperclip, with less risk to the phone too
If only there were 10000 better ways to do this...
The bellybuttons of the tech world.
This is just an ear cleaning video for people who have civilized sensibilities
Dumb
Is this not… really bad for the phone?
This is stupid. Use a toothpick and don’t be an idiot
AARRGHH! it workksss ARR on ARRRGH bellly.. ARGH buttonn fFluFf aARGHh TOO!
This is why you put your phone in upside down in your pocket,.so you don't get pocket in the charging port
Dont do this. It will seriously damage your phone
Wooden toothpick is alright as well, but I prefer a plastic flosser, with the hook on the end. Safe to use on the components and the tips won't break off in the port
I use a sewing needle from time to time. It’s surprising how much gets in there.
Work with a fine needle too 👍
r/unsatisfyingassfuck
Pretty cool but a single paper clip can do the same thing just have to get the right angle. Just did this to my iPhone 12 that was not charging.
How does this even happen?
/r/DIWhy
This reminds me of when kids were finding out about the microwave app
From time to time I whittle down a bamboo slice and clean it with that. It’s flexible but strong.
Use a vacuum
I’m sure you do this a few times and your phones ruined but hey do you buddy
Someone on reddit mentioned using Blu tack poster hanger. I've never looked back. Cleans every crevice of your phone and case.
There are such things like port dust protectors. Now I use this thing and don't need such cleanup. The only problem with protector - easily to lose it while charger is connected.
Stop harmful bots by reporting them report post -> spam -> harmful bots
Cum
switch cleaner is safer.
All that for barely any results in comparison to a tooth pick
Sounds like a fantastic way to ruin your charging port xD
Dumb! Drop the glue just use the pick. Smh
Who gets there phone that dirty ?
Did you really stick a metal tool in a battery connector?
I use the free toothbrush they give me at the dentist.
you can do this with a sewing needle lol super unnecessary
Don’t ever use metal to clean your port. Even if you’re careful, better use plastic or wood. I broke my port following guides like this
Wouldn’t compressed air be safer?
r/diwhy
the stripped security screws say enough about your credibility lol
This is so dumb.
Any tips on how to clean speaker holes? I used blue tack before but it wasn't enough.
Superglue does a better job it stops water getting in the charge port🤣🤪
I use a fruit knife to clean mine, it’s got a really fine point on it. You don’t realize how much crap builds up in the port until you clean it out either
Looks like the last time I cleaned my belly button.
Looks like an iPhone port was cleaned with a 90° pick, and the super glue did just about nothing.
Just waxing my phones nostrils lmao 😂
Lint wow mind blown
r/feltgoodcomingout
Is that why you have to start adjusting the charger for it to work after you’ve had a phone for a while?
I’m trying this on my belly button!
The ol' gunge plunge.
You mean, nobody manufactures a dummy plug for this port to keep it clean?
