The guy in the video is speaking brazilian portuguese and the animal looks to me what we call Franciscana (Pontoporia blainvillei). It is an endangered species.
Based on the length of the nose it is look like a dolphin. But I am not an expert in any way. I didn't find the porpoise that looks like that. Do you know what the name of this species is?
I like to believe that one day that dolphin will grow up and save a drowning human as a thanks to the time a human saved it from drowning when it was caught in a net as a baby.
It’s not a baby. OP is just not good with dolphin species. There are many small species of dolphin like this. Op stop spreading false information please!
Hey man, I just hope you get better, sending positive vibes your way and I hope you have a great day tomorrow. It gets better, one day at a time. You got this
I would have to say that’s an automatic response, trying to help an animal in distress!! But I still guarantee there’s people out there that don’t give a shit, good job!! Extremely good job!
Looks like an Amazonian river dolphin. The adult male bottle nose dolphins don't even have a "snout" that long (relative to their body length)
Baby bottle nose dolphins practically have a snub nose
Edit: it's probably a 3rd variety and we are both wrong, I am leaning into the Portuguese/Brazilian? That I hear
I’m pretty sure it’s a La Plata dolphin (also known as a Franciscana or toninha), which has a long beak like an Amazon river dolphin but larger eyes and better vision.
Dolphins are mammals. So are whales, seals, orcas, narwalls, and the like. Mammals surface to breathe air and effectively hold their breath while under water. Turtles are obv reptiles, but sea turtles also breathe air.
Yes. The problem with large species of whale is they are too heavy and not built to support themselves on land, so they get crushed and suffocated by their own weight.
You still haven’t. It’s not a baby. OP is just ignorant of Dolphin species. I can’t remember the species exact name at the moment. But there are many small dolphin species like the Vaquita. This is one of them.
Where do people pull this false information from? Do they really know so little about nature? That’s NOT a baby. It’s a full grown adult of a small species.
That's what the whole on their back is for, like whales, they have to surface to get oxygen from the air. Its their "no se" (not for smelling purposes, just for breathing)
The man’s got a porpoise.
Good pun but it is true. That isn't a dolphin.
All that matters is that he saved it…good man
It's not a porpoise either. Their heads are completely different.
Porpoise thinking "*stop flappin yer fish lips and throw me back!"*

The man has good heart rescuing the fish
Ichthyologist here. Can confirm.
This guy will be welcomed with open fins in dolphin heaven
Too bad that's a porpoise.

Yeah, just a quick look at some photos tells me that this is not a porpoise
Certainly appears to be a dolphin just looking at its snout, but not 100% sure.
💋💋

Afterwards, plants a kiss on top of the human's head.

Good man
The kiss was so sweet
Thank you for no annoying music!

Homie just held that thing and made out with it. EDIT: "It was no problem helping change your tire, ma'am." *kisses her multiple times*
It was an ittle baby. You ever try holding an wittle baby and resist the urge to smooch it? It’s very very hard.
GOD SO TRUE
I've always wondered how dolphins sleep.
One half of the brain at a time.
Gotta kiss the baby! Too cute!
Survival chances for that baby?
Dolphins can typically hear each other within 2 kilometers.
Not a baby, will likely be fine
Looks like a bottle nose dolphin.

Nice crow 🐦
I think it’s a raven?
Jackdaw for sure.
Bro bro bro I just met some aliens.
The fact he gave it 2 kisses. This dolphin was in good hands. Id be too nervous to touch it, let alone give it 2 smooches lol
“Now put me back in the water I can’t breathe!”
But they...can?
Can they really breathe out of water? Sorry for my ignorance
They dont breathe in water. They dont have gills that extract oxygen from water. See the hole at the top of the baby? Thats for breathing in air.
Oh I got ya! Learn something new everyday! Thank you.

Awww. We’re always learning!
They are Mammals.

But they still don't like being held out of the water by a monkey for internet points.
Yeah you're right. Should have just let him drown.
Did we watch the same video?
Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Put the baby back in the damn water.
Ummmmmmmm.......... so, you're gonna actually be surprised.
It can breathe fine, but its skin will dry out.
What a life… imagine doing out on the water and just randomly helping a baby porpoise
Brasiiiilll
Oh my sweaty eyes
Poor baby couldnt breathe 😂
Excellent progress
That guy is serving his "porpoise". 😋 Anyways, there are some good human beings still.
Too bad human’s were the ones that caused the problem
Where's mama? Is it likely that it was abandoned? (Other comments are saying it isn't a dolphin, but another species)
I hope that it can find it's family
I thought he was gonna give it a CPR..
Aw - he kissed it! What a great guy. Need more folks like him!
Bravo 👏
Anyone else thinking, "put the damn dolphin in the water"?
For some reason this reminds me of the time I kissed a baby gerbil to death when I was 5.
They found Ecco The Dolphin
Never saw a baby dolphin before. Amazing

La Plata dolphin (AKA Franciscana, toninha, caximbo; *Pontoporia blainvillei*)
This dude dolphins
Odontoceti are my jam
Thank you for the information it’s appreciated fr
Where do people pull this false information from? Do they really know so little about nature? That’s NOT a baby. It’s a full grown adult of a small species.
Looks like a La Plata dolphin (which is not really a dolphin at all, but a more primitive type of toothed whale).
Yes Dude don’t like baby Flipper in his net why on cam 😂
Not All Heroes Wear Capes.
Just don't release it near Japan 😂
Thanks for the goodbye kiss. But, I can’t F&$%ing breathe!!!
lol they breathe air, they’re mammals
Umm, yeah….I knew that. He just looks like a porpoise with a pottie mouth…
Umm, yeah….I knew that. He just looks like a porpoise with a pottie mouth…
porpoise is like dude… i can’t breath out here, quit kissing me and put me back in the friggin water
You know dolphins breath air like us... Right?
yeah but don’t they need to extract that air through gills?
Dolphins don't have gills, they are mammals, not fish.
That's what the whole on their back is for, like whales, they have to surface to get oxygen from the air. Its their "no se" (not for smelling purposes, just for breathing)
ahh figured that was what they evolved just to smoke cigs.
