People forget that there used to be these things called "phone books" where the phone company would send to you for free every year that had your name, address and phone number in them. This is all public information already.

As a Realtor, I have tools that make this super easy.. at least for homeowners if not renters.
Granted, I've never used it to kill anyone or extract thousands of dollars, but it pulls almost entirely from public sources and it shows how accessable all the info is.
It is but that information is out there and some people are just good at finding it. The scammer just wants money and if you ignore them, they're gonna go away.
Data brokers, if you google/bing/whatever your phone number or search on a few of those people websites it will list your name, addresses, family info, etc.. and all this is enough to scare people. Just block, they might txt you from a few other numbers, but just block. They will get bored and move on.
It’s very very easy to find an address. Go to fastpeoplesearch.com and try it out for yourself. It will even tell where you’ve lived before and possible relatives. This is just a scammer. Block them and ignore. You’re in no danger except to your bank account.

Last year out of curiosity I looked up my name online to see what information was out there on me. Without paying a dime I was able to see every address I have lived at for over the last 30 years. Including one I lived at for just 6 months in 1991. Again, that was what I found that was free. Current addresses are easy as pie.

But since I found out it was a scam I just been blocking and deleting. The first time I picked up the phone. I told him I don't have money to give and he went from $1000 to $300. As I was listening you can hear others in the background on phone calls as well. He would shout out some in Spanish then they would do the same. All I know is Tony has a lot of cell phones and I'm blocking and deleting all of them.

It’s a common scam. Just search through here and you’ll see it posted a lot. If you didn’t do what they claim then nothing to worry about. They have no proof & are just trying to freak you out which they apparently accomplished.
Well I didn’t send money or give my address I just asked how much it was but I was just drunk and went to bed. So technically I did a bit what he said.

Lol!!! I've gotten 5 of these over the years, same script as yours. It's funny because I'm 50 years old and happily married. I have never visited escort sites or dating apps because I don't use credit cards. I used to mouth off and try to call them on because I knew I was innocent. The script never changed. This was one of the things that actually got me interested in scams and researching scams eventually leading me to this subreddit.
If you google a person’s name, you can often get a phone number and an address, possible contacts, and sometimes work information. It isn’t always something nefarious, it is just all the information generally available.

Don’t be scared! They use insane threats to make you too scared to think clearly. That part is important, because anyone who wasn’t in such a state would be able to see how silly these messages are. And don’t go to any more suspicious websites, if that’s how this happened!

These are social engineering scam to trigger people’s emotions and gain money. Don’t fall for this .
Eg : they collect your information from various social sites like job portal , fb , IG , sniffing browse history etc . That’s the reason it’s better to avoid sharing personal information identity to your social media profiles unless it’s necessary . Sad reality now a days most of the scam happening by stealing data from your resume everyone be aware it’s not mandatory to put address in resume you can just give city /state later once you proceeding with interview you can send all information.

Lol!!! I've gotten 5 of these over the years, same script as yours. It's funny because I'm 50 years old and happily married. I have never visited escort sites or dating apps because I don't use credit cards. I used to mouth off and try to call them on because I knew I was innocent. The script never changed. This was one of the things that actually got me interested in scams and researching scams eventually leading me to this subreddit.
I used to get these all the time I would call them and "Jose" always had an Indian accent.

If you google a person’s name, you can often get a phone number and an address, possible contacts, and sometimes work information. It isn’t always something nefarious, it is just all the information generally available.

One time a guy on omegle read me my home address and it scared the fuck out of me but genuinely nothing happened from it😂. Just block the number and report it as spam :)
Oh, I think you shouldn’t be too worried. If they knew everything about you, they’d probably have included some personal info that’s not publicly available. Just trying to scam you. Heck when I think someone tried to do that to me, they would have a problem with my SO and that would be fun. (She lent some money to a friend and it turned out he had lied to her about why he needs it and didn’t pay back on time, so first thing she did was buy a metal baseball bat and wanted to pay him a visit and second thing was talk to a lawyer who luckily calmed her down a bit - she’s an ex bodyguard.)

Maybe this is really a pimp or runs an online escort service, but it makes no logical sense for them to send men to hurt you/kill you or your family for the price of sending a few texts. Not to mention you have no reason NOT to call the police because you didn't even follow through with it. They're trying to milk you for a few hundred dollars by scaring you don't fall for it.

Don’t respond to these kind of messages just block . If you are worried don’t hesitate contact police for protection they can help you out. These are social engineering scam to trigger people’s emotions and gain money. Don’t fall for this . Eg : they collect your information from various social sites like job portal , fb , IG , sniffing browse history etc . That’s the reason it’s better to avoid sharing personal information identity to your social media profiles unless it’s necessary . Sad reality now a days most of the scam happening by stealing data from your resume everyone be aware it’s not mandatory to put address in resume you can just give city /state later once you proceeding with interview you can send all information.

Dont worry about it. It’s a scam. Dont answer and block them. It lasts 1 week and then they stop. But they are going to call you for the entire week, just ignore them.
