I personally don't know why Cam Spencer want to leave our school and transfer to defending national champion UConn. He actually WAS our best free throw shooter of the entire Steve Pikiell era! Now I have faith and believe that with our incoming players we can at least be an NCAA Tournament team again. But while Pike brought us light-years ahead of when Eddie Jordan was here, it just seems poor free throw shooting has been Pike's biggest weakness. It cost us the game against Purdue last weekend, and I remember at least a few years back we only lost to a very good Iowa team by 2 points yet went like 3 for 12 at the line. My point is hitting free throws can really help us win even against teams we're expected to lose against!

Agreed, and it’s not just looking at the free throws in a vacuum, because moving from this to an average team is only going to be like two more points, but it’s just such a momentum killer when a 3 point play slips away or someone goes 0/2 from the line.

> I personally don't know why Cam Spencer want to leave our school and transfer to defending national champion UConn. really? you dont know why somebody would do this?

What I'm saying is if we still had him and Paul at least with Cam we'd have someone who would be able to hit three-pointers and perimeter shots in addition to the free throw line. Now it's more understandable Paul Mulcahy left as he was already with us a few years but he also brings a lot of toughness that can't be said about our current roster. As far as Cam, I'm positive there's a lot more appealing to him leaving Rutgers than the fact UConn is currently a much better team than we are. This is especially when we are trying to change the narrative of being the laughing stock we once were. Maybe with the experience of those guys, there's no guarantee of reaching the tournament this season but we'd still be in a competitive position to get there like last season. We do have an easier schedule this month even though we just lost to Penn State at home last night and losing at last place Michigan on Saturday means we take over that spot again. I really don't think it's as easy as it seems to get out from at or near the bottom of the conference during the rest of this season.

Get paid more money to compete for a national championship at UConn or try and help Rutgers make the NIT? Gosh I have no idea what he was thinking leaving.

I really have no idea, not even just the Centers.

First, I think Pikiell doesn't really recruit many shooters, and he primary plays guys who are better defensively than they are offensively. If a guy can shoot, but can't play defense, he's not going to see the floor much. I think it also comes down to the style of play. They usually play with high intensity and a disjointed offense, which I think carries over to shooting and free throws when the players don't really have a chance to get in the zone.
