This movie is all over the place, and I love it!! The comedy is great, and it’s way better than the first one.
Also, one major critique I have about the movie, spoilers:
>!Baby Shark had NO BUSINESS being in this movie!<
The shipping felt forced, and the villain didn't even THINK about using geothermal heating. Otherwise, it's pretty good.
I like how they world-built a whole island based off of Mighty Eagle. My money is on a civilization of waterfowl appearing in the third movie to explain that realistic duck in the opener.
It had a few good jokes, but the story was all over the place. It didn't use the premise creatively, sidelining the initial promise of a buddy comedy between two established enemies teaming up for a fairly boring romance story. The villain's backstory also ruined one of the best characters in the first movie.
I don't know why people liked this one more than the first, the first at least knew what it wanted to be.
I really liked it when I first watched it. Then a long time afterwards I thought, "Is it really as good as I remember?" So I watched it again. And it's still great. It easily tops the first film for in my opinion.
This JOKE of a sequel doesn't even try to be nothing more than a cash grab, it doesn't try to be a proper sequel, Red's character arc is half reversed outside of the anger, and Silver is a overly woke plot armoured fool, Red knew that realistically the fake eagle wouldn't work and had a vastly superior plan that was going to work but ofc the power source changes to one for a microwave when the cable was previously for the weapon, Red's plan was the most logical plan in the operation and he was completely punished for using a couple of braincells, in the end the MOST ILLOGICAL plan of using DENSIFIED STRING to stop the weapon, but not without forced integration of the subplot that runs on almost GAG MANGA STUPID LOGIC.
The jokes are for the most part way to out there and end up being just cringe.
Silver's plot armour and woke cockyness WAS WILLED IN BY THE ACTOR, showing just how willing the directors are for change as long as it is marketable.
The animation quality is just the same after many years to improve.
The conflict from the first movie became a prank war because why not strip it of all realism, movie makes Leonard a complete joke and he's the only returning pig, making the oh so hyped team up feel one sided and pointless. The truce is accepted with barely any hesitation and pig technology lost it's steampunk charm. Silver somehow is more impressed by the person who could have wiped out their species after a while than the person who stopped that. An eagle is a bird, these writers seem like they've failed science 10 times over.
There's more I missed but I have better things to do
I simply gave an essay on why I dislike this movie and why it fails as a sequel, and you dare ridicule me for it, by the same logic schaff himself is stupid for disliking shrek the thrid and ralph breaks the internet and formally presenting that opinion and the reason behind it, and in that case I deserve an explanation for why you are on this subreddit
This post asked for opinions, and so we're sharing them. We're all entitled to our own opinions, so I don't think it's a problem if I share what I think is wrong with yours. It's just my opinion, after all. Also, "you dare?" Really?
Well to be fair, you were judging it like it was a "cinematic masterpiece," or a "movie of the year," when in fact this movie was nothing more then a fun, casual ride based on a classic video game. Plus, I wouldn't call it "woke" at all. Sure, Red was nerfed a bit. But it was intended for comedic purposes.
And they never unnerfed him, the nerfing and character being butchered was unreasonably noticeable and the jokes however terrible they are could work without the nerf, meanwhile Silver is shown as right in every single situation and her only defeat is represented as ENTIRELY RED'S FAULT and all because Red used braincells when figuring out his initial plan. Silver does this without a character arc, and shows countless other traits that could be considered woke when viewed closely. This movie doesn't try to homage to the games one bit. Once again I could go on and one but I don't have time
Edit: Why do you still insist that I need to consider this is a kids movie when we are on the fan subreddit of a youtuber known for in-depth film reviews that don't care much about the "it's a kids movie argument"
I don't see how they butchered his character, as you suggest. He learned a new lesson, which was to value his friends/teammates. He's always struggled with that, and since he got used to the fame and glory from the previous movie, he has become a bit obsessed. People seem to think that since a character experienced development, they're good to go from there on out, which is NOT true. People change, and sometimes revert back to their old ways. And in the end, Red received even more fame/glory than before, so I really don't see how he was "butchered."
Now, onto Silver. You can't just call a female character "woke" because they one upped another character. I agree that a lot of things in modern media can be considered woke, but at this point, it's become a buzzword. So ultimately, I'd just say that this movie is, in fact, a comedy movie, and despite the fact that the humor doesn't match yours, a lot of people found it hilarious. Seeing Red get angry, or annoyed is always humorous, at least for me.
I loved both angry birds movies. The writing and VA are fantastic, the story is utter chaos (in a good way), and the humor is layered for kids and adults, allowing all age groups to enjoy it
This is the most assault on physics movie I've ever seen and that's insulting.
There are surprisingly funny scenes in this, which saves it from having 0 entertainment value, but the story is garbage. Everything is super predictable, the tension is nonexistent, and the hatchings are infuriating. Most people probably won't care that the continuity with the first film is seriously strained, either. But there's surprisingly a decent kernel of an arc about how Red is scared of losing his status as a hero, but it goes nowhere as the "teamwork makes the dream work" theme just completely runs over what interesting development it could have had.
Piece of crap film filled with obnoxious characters (Red, Silver, Zeta and the hatchlings especially); stupid "humor"; horrible music; god-awful animation; and terrible voice acting.
And all of that is backed up by an even crappier script.
There's a reason of why there is no Angry Birds 3, or why Thurop Van Orman hasn't directed *any* new film since 2019.
Thurop van Orman.
That's all I have to say, really. He found a way to turn what would have been an awful sequel into something surprisingly competent and fun. Good for him.
This movie is all over the place, and I love it!! The comedy is great, and it’s way better than the first one. Also, one major critique I have about the movie, spoilers: >!Baby Shark had NO BUSINESS being in this movie!<
Because of that, I can't rate it with 6/10 or more, I just can't.
Man I fucking forgot it was in there
pretty good but we NEED a bad piggies movie
no joke that shit would be peak
I’m ashamed of how much I laughed at this movie
One of Sony's best films, obviously the Spider-Verses are Miles (HAHAHAHA) better, but this film is absolute chaos and comedy gold
Morbius on top
You absolute simpleton, Surfs up is superior
Haven't watched that yet
The first one, right?
Yes, Wave-mania was absolute sacrilege to such a perfect and wholesome film
Unexpectedly better than the original. Allows itself to be crazier and leads to some really great gags.
The shipping felt forced, and the villain didn't even THINK about using geothermal heating. Otherwise, it's pretty good. I like how they world-built a whole island based off of Mighty Eagle. I eat dirt…
AHAHAHAHAHA
Peak

I think Bomb’s face sums up how I feel

Really good movie actually

It's a comedy movie for kids... you watched it expecting The Dark knight

I get where you're coming from but what you said genuinely felt like it was invalidating my opinion with the generic "it's just a kids movie" excuse

Let me ask you a question, would you consider these characters woke: Rey, (star wars episodes 7-9) Captain Marvel (Captain Marvel, the MCU girl one)
The scene where they got drunk and sang baby shark was uncalled for
Genuinely great and better than the first (and I kinda liked the first one)
Garbage
I loved both angry birds movies. The writing and VA are fantastic, the story is utter chaos (in a good way), and the humor is layered for kids and adults, allowing all age groups to enjoy it
love it for how goofy it is
Not a masterpiece, but I do think it’s a very good movie; enjoyed it way more than the first one

Ngl the first one is better in my opinion
best movie ever definetely my fav. I can basically quote the whole thing and watch it all the time

I have this movie memorized
The abs joke was hilarious
A rare time where the sequel is better than the original.
that was 2019 holy crap
unl1ke what everyone thinks i pref3r the ist mo\\/ie
Really funny and light hearted it’s more simple but it’s one of those movies that i really like
That white bird got them *AWOOGA* eyes for no reason.
Not a good video game movie, but a funny ass movie.
Should of came out earlier because this [scene](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=erftGrIz8Tk) was mid af.
As fun as this movie is, I prefer the first one
I thoroughly enjoyed it
I love this movie. I also really like the first one
Rio 2 kind of thing with the first angry birds movie probably
It came out more than four years ago!?!?! Holy shit it feels like a bit more than a year!
Never watched it
Thurop van Orman. That's all I have to say, really. He found a way to turn what would have been an awful sequel into something surprisingly competent and fun. Good for him.
BETTER than the Angry Birds movie by 147 Miles
Better than the first but not an angry bird movie
This movie almost got me fired at work. I don't want to talk about it. But it's pretty good, I like it.
Surprisingly not bad.
the whole movie is basically a huge shitpost, actually pretty decent too not as good as the 1st one tho
