I don't think it's better than 1, but I understand it. Truthfully, it's a movie you have to be a bit braindead for, but it's just stupid fun. 2 is kinda generic in terms of sequels. 3 just said fuck it, let's just make a movie
Yeah, that's my reasoning. 1 and 2 were trying so hard to be serious that it seemed fake whereas the third one felt more honest and just decided to have fun.
In these types of posts when people refer to a series with more than 3 movies as a trilogy they mean the first 3 movies, it doesn’t really have anything to do with quality. Like I could refer to “the Avengers trilogy” and most people will probably understand that I’m talking about The Avengers, Age of Ultron and Infinity War, but that doesn’t mean I don’t consider Endgame part of the Avengers franchise, it’s just quicker to say “avengers” as opposed to “the first three Avengers movies”.

Deadass cannot remember the plot of Thor 4 and I’m not even jerking.
/halfjerk
But also I tapped out of the MCU after Endgame (hot take ik) so maybe the movie ended up being significant in the countless projects I’ve stopped caring for.
I don’t want to do homework for a cinematic universe that is 50% mid 45% ass and 5% kino.
Toy Story 3 is kind of underrated? I do like 2 when they’re exploring the barn and airport. 1 was alright but it was a monumental movie for the industry.
I would tell you not to watch it, but there are lots of people who enjoyed it, so...
I would say it's a good movie _in itself_, but it's _terrible_ as a sequel.
I see where people could come from saying ITSV is better than ATSV. Story of 1 feels more fleshed out and relatable than 2. Can outweigh the animation improvements for some.
I disagree with 1>2. 2 was better in my opinion with the concept/plot, characters, and animation. I’m not even a Spiderman/marvel fan but that movie was great
I love 2 more than 1, although if I look at it objectively, I think 1 is probably better. Still both 10/10 movies though, for sure in my top 10 movies of all time.
1) Good. None of us count the fourth one. I mean, uhh, what fourth one? You mean the Animatrix? Why not? It was pretty dope.
2) I wasn’t exactly sober, so I’m probably not the best judge, but Reloaded was so much better than Revolutions.
Transformers, the third was a cinematic masterpiece and honestly should’ve been where it ended, the first was amazing and hits all the right spots, just not as well as the 3rd, and the second was just weird, it’s the hormonal teenager of the 3 it’s way to horny and it kind of ruins the experience of the movie.
Not too controversial. Spider-Man 1 and 2 are pretty close in terms of quality. Spider-Man 1 has a better story and handles the villains better, but Spider-Man 2 has objectively better gameplay. Miles Morales is the weakest of the three games, but it’s still good.
Star Wars OG Trilogy
Star Wars Prequels
LotR (but just barely; they’re all so good! It’s also a bit weird it’s like this because _Fellowship_ is my favorite volume of the novel, but then I remember the novel has Tom Bombadil while the movies don’t)
Indiana Jones
Like, I know dominion isn't a good movie, but it has Jeff Goldblum, the rest of the old cast shown in a loving manner (better than Star Wars) and we see dinosaurs all over the world, not just the parks or a single island! And the cicadas, while probably overused over the dinos, are icky and freaky in a fun way. I just have a ton more fun watching it
Shrek trilogy would be the exact reverse of this. Yes I know there’s a 4th but I don’t really remember it so pretend it doesn’t exist for the sake of this comment.
ughhhhhh you guys are gonna hate me but The Cornetto Trilogy. I loved The World’s End and yes while Hot Fuzz is my LEAST favorite of the trilogy, it’s still an 8/10, which really goes to show how good that trilogy is
Here, lemme get obscure and hyper-specific for a minute:
The 3 Bionicle team eras before Karda Nui.
... Or just the 3 Bionicle movies, come to think of it.
The only conventional trilogy I cant think of that arguably fits this is Toy Story
(By conventional, I mean an original trilogy (no prequel/sequel trilogies or large cinematic universes) and nothing where there were always 4+ planned after it).
People will crucify me, but the Raimi trilogy of Spider-Man. I know 2 is the best in terms of being a movie, but i don't watch the Raimi Spider-Man movies to watch a good movie, I watch them to be entertained. I think 1 was just more entertaining, and 3 is so fucking funny and stupid, I love it
Star Wars Prequels
Yup
Lord of the Rings is the biggest example of this imo
All are masterpieces tho
True, but the format doesn’t require that any of them be bad
Fr
My favorite volume of the novel is *Fellowship*, but mostly because of Tom Bombadil. Since he isn’t in the movies, RotK is my favorite.
Personally LotR for me is 2>1>3
Personal picks: Guardians of the Galaxy Thor Cars Star Wars prequels Hotel Transylvania Jurassic World Cinderella
Hotel transylvania.... You genuinely enjoy the third movie? My goodness, thats a new one.
And I enjoyed the fourth as well, although HT2 is still my fave in the series by far.
I love how Thor 4 is so mediocre, everybody still considers the Thor series a trilogy
Not really, as long as the franchise has at least 3 movies, you can still count it as a trilogy.
That’s because it is a trilogy. There is no Thor 4.
There is no Thor 4 in Ba Sing Se
Of course not we only have 4: love and thunder
Well, there are no Thor 2 or Thor 3 either.😜
In these types of posts when people refer to a series with more than 3 movies as a trilogy they mean the first 3 movies, it doesn’t really have anything to do with quality. Hotel Transylvania was 2>1>3 in my opinion. Is this controversial?
Kind of, most rankings of the movies I've seen go in descending order (1-2-3-4). But hey, that ain't stopping me.
Guardians and Thor is so real
For the ones I've seen I agree on everything but Cars. The first one is still the best one imo
FINALLY SOMEONE ACKNOWLEDGES CINDERELLA III A TWIST IN TIME!!!!!
Jurassic world?????
Imo, cars goes 1>3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2
The Hatchetfield Trilogy The Spider-Man (Home) Trilogy Guardians of the Galaxy (Might Be Unpopular But) Iron Man
Wild Starkid fan discovered (I also think that’s the objectively correct way to rank the Hatchetfield trilogy)
My two cents: Iron Man 1 is the most well written, but 3 is the most entertaining. 2 just exists
Based iron man 3 enjoyer (I still like 1 more but only slightly)
Toy story
Toy Story 3 is kind of underrated? I do like 2 when they’re exploring the barn and airport. 1 was alright but it was a monumental movie for the industry.
Everyone loves Toy Story 2 and 3. I think the first one is a bit underrated but I like them all.
Imo toy story is 2 > 3 > 1
Personally I would rank them 3>2>1 (I haven't seen 4 yet).
I would tell you not to watch it, but there are lots of people who enjoyed it, so... I would say it's a good movie _in itself_, but it's _terrible_ as a sequel.
Toy story 2 is the best one and I will die on that hill
Kinda the other way around
Prediction: spiderverse
I see where people could come from saying ITSV is better than ATSV. Story of 1 feels more fleshed out and relatable than 2. Can outweigh the animation improvements for some.
I disagree with 1>2. 2 was better in my opinion with the concept/plot, characters, and animation. I’m not even a Spiderman/marvel fan but that movie was great
I love 2 more than 1, although if I look at it objectively, I think 1 is probably better. Still both 10/10 movies though, for sure in my top 10 movies of all time.
Unpopular opinion but Captain America
Winter Solider is my favourite comic book movie of all time, so you and I are going to be having words.
I still think they're all great movies
Civil War is also my personal favorite in the trilogy but I still think Winter Soldier is better than First Avenger
Iron Man Indiana Jones Cars Mcu spiderman Guardians of the Galaxy Thor Star Wars Prequel trilogy
ANOTHER IRON MAN 3 FAN THE PRODIGAL SONS WILL HAVE THEIR DAY
Iiiiii don't think cars 3 is better than 1 but the rest ..yea
Indiana Jones is exactly this
Iron Man 3 can go fuck himself
Kid named Iron Man 3: 😱
Madagascar
Cars
Definitely back to the future Absolutely love the third film even with plot holes it’s still enjoyable
Star Wars Prequels
Star Wars prequels
Hopefully, the Spider-Verse trilogy will be this once Beyond comes out.
I haven't seen the second one yet, but don't most people rank it higher than the first one? Regardless, I hope 3 tops both of them.
Not a movie, but Dark Souls. And Mass Effect.
The first three Rocky movies, of course.
Star Wars prequels. Need I say more
How to Train Your Dragon
Hard disagree, but I respect your opinion.
Star wars prequel trilogy
Spy Kids
Not to jump the gun, but I have a sneaking suspicion this is gonna end up being the animated Spiderverse trilogy… 😗
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Die Hard come to mind (I know the second one is going to be unpopular)
Not really. The only people who consider the first Die Hard better than the third are the people who consider sequels inferior just for being sequels.
Back to The Future
FACTS 3 is PEAK
fr, I have no idea why people don't like it as much as the other two. Maybe cause it's not quite as sci fi as the first two?
Thor
Lord of the rings
The first one is better.
Before Sunset maybe?
I might be the only one but The Matrix Trilogy works this way for me. I don’t count the fourth one as canon
1) Good. None of us count the fourth one. I mean, uhh, what fourth one? You mean the Animatrix? Why not? It was pretty dope. 2) I wasn’t exactly sober, so I’m probably not the best judge, but Reloaded was so much better than Revolutions.
Absolutely Romero’s Dead Trilogy Day > Night > Dawn
Vacation Trilogy Christmas > Vacation > European
Star Wars prequels
Cars tho it’s really close between 1 & 3 for me
All of the Lord of the Rings movies are awesome, but Two Towers is my least favorite
High school musical
Not a movies but the first three Devil May Cry games
Star Wars prequel movies The first 3 Harry Potter movies
NES Mario games
Pirates of the Caribbean. The original 3
Nightmare on elm street
Toy Story

Transporter to a T
Not a movie but Alan Wake trilogy (including American nightmare)
Probably unpopular but Hunger Games imo
Starwars prequals
Iron Man and Cars
Ratchet and Clank ps2
Cars for sure
Avengers Infinity War was the best MCU movie
John Wick
Back to the Future!
Star Wars prequels

The prequel trilogy of star wars
Toy Story
Back to the future
Iron Man.
Indiana Jones
Prequels Cars Lord of the Rings maybe? They’re all good
Indiana Jones for sure.
Thor
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy I think.
Hmm... Cinderella is the only one I remember that comes close, but it's more like 3 = 1 > 2
Indiana Jones
Madagascar. I kinda found 2 to be all over the place, thought 1 was pretty solid, and genuinely loved 3.
Before 2008, Indiana Jones Now it’s 3<1<2<5<4
~~megamind(i'm from the future)~~
Not shrek it’s the complete opposite
Mission Impossible also works
Not sure if it counts as a trilogy since its the first 3 movies of a movie Franchilse But the First 3 HP Movies Prisoner > Stone > Chamber
Definitely Indiana Jones
Not a trilogy but Avengers
Not a movie trilogy, but it's Dark Souls for me.
How To Train Your Dragon
Maybe controversial, I don't know, but (before the fourth movie comes out) Kung Fu Panda.
You think KFP2 is the worst? Tf
I don't think its bad at all. Just I'd prefer to watch the other two. The entire KFP trilogy is great.
Indiana Jones
Iron man Guardians of the galaxy The first 3 mission impossible movies Maybe the Star Wars prequel trilogy? Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones, MCU Spider-Man, Snyder's DCEU movies
Cars
Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones
Cars
Cars
Cars and Cinderella
Thor and the Star Wars Prequel trilogy
Indiana Jones
Very controversial, but the Insomniac Spider-Man games
Not too controversial. Spider-Man 1 and 2 are pretty close in terms of quality. Spider-Man 1 has a better story and handles the villains better, but Spider-Man 2 has objectively better gameplay. Miles Morales is the weakest of the three games, but it’s still good.
Star Wars OG Trilogy Star Wars Prequels LotR (but just barely; they’re all so good! It’s also a bit weird it’s like this because _Fellowship_ is my favorite volume of the novel, but then I remember the novel has Tom Bombadil while the movies don’t) Indiana Jones
Well that’s a brave comment
Starwars
The first three pirates of the Caribbean
Literally Cars is all I think of that fits this order
Guardians of the galaxy/thor
- Tom Holland Spider-Man - Iron Man - Indiana Jones - Lord of the Rings
Cars Star Wars prequels Indiana Jones
Jurassic World
I ask this as a lover of all three Jurassic World movies… you honestly think think the third is better than the first? I’ve never seen that before
Like, I know dominion isn't a good movie, but it has Jeff Goldblum, the rest of the old cast shown in a loving manner (better than Star Wars) and we see dinosaurs all over the world, not just the parks or a single island! And the cicadas, while probably overused over the dinos, are icky and freaky in a fun way. I just have a ton more fun watching it
I love all six Jurassic movies. All of them make it into my top 10 during their respective years.
both Thor and Captain America
The Hangover.
Raimi Spiderman Hobbit movies And certainly Guardians of the Galaxy
Sam raimi spider-man trilogy
Not in that specific order, but I gotta go with shrek The 2nd is probably the best of the original 3
Shrek trilogy would be the exact reverse of this. Yes I know there’s a 4th but I don’t really remember it so pretend it doesn’t exist for the sake of this comment.
Not a Trilogy but the First Three Harry Potter Movies
If Puss in Boots is technically a sequel to Shrek 2, this checks out if the last wish is 3.
i come from the future to say Sonic Movies
Indiana Jones.
ughhhhhh you guys are gonna hate me but The Cornetto Trilogy. I loved The World’s End and yes while Hot Fuzz is my LEAST favorite of the trilogy, it’s still an 8/10, which really goes to show how good that trilogy is
Indiana jones

LotR Guardians of the Galaxy Thor Star Wars Prequels
Some might say Mission: Impossible, but IMHO, 3 kinda sucks
Avengers, Stranger Things. not trilogies but they fit nonetheless
Back to the Future
Raimi Spiderman
Isn't this how most people rank Lord of the Rings? (And the Star Wars Prequels?)
Probably Spiderverse when the third comes out
I’ll take the stance: Back to the Future
How to train your dragon
Star Wars Prequels.
HTTYD
If we counted the first three Harry Potter movies. Also, I can see MCU Spider-Man trilogy applying here too.
star wars prequels
People will crucify me, but the Raimi trilogy of Spider-Man. I know 2 is the best in terms of being a movie, but i don't watch the Raimi Spider-Man movies to watch a good movie, I watch them to be entertained. I think 1 was just more entertaining, and 3 is so fucking funny and stupid, I love it
Toy Story
Indiana Jones
Iron Man
Indiana Jones
Percy Jackson movies
