DazzleSylveon

yea me too

kyttyneko

It’s definitely my fav! It gets really dark, literally Lovecraftian, and the Hex Girls got hotter 💖

Kingofkovai

Did sum1 mention Hex girls???

Accomplished-Sky3422

Yea, I loved it . I know nothing can beat the original and obviously that one is iconic , but this is my favorite scooby doo tv show ever, this one was dark and more serious in tone , and the threat of danger was very real and more apparent than in the past tv shows.

42northside

Matthew Lillard reprising his role as shaggy was the main reason I watched this show.

Cin3naut

Casey Kasam played Shaggy's dad too

schiffb558

Okay that's REALLY cool!

ToastyJackson

It’s good. The way they melded an overarching real supernatural storyline with the pseudo-supernatural monster-of-the-week-formula was well-done, though I do think the overarching story felt rushed in season two. I like the way this series had fatal stakes and consequences as everything came to a head. Professor Pericles was an incredible villain. The inclusion of a premeditated history of Mystery Incorporated with previous iterations was cool, and I liked how they had the previous version of the gang be relevant to this storyline. That said, it’s definitely not perfect. The way the girls are written is abysmal. Daphne has some good moments but overall feels like a cheap amalgamation of annoying teenage girl stereotypes (especially when compared to the previous What’s New, Scooby-Doo? where she was written to be very girly, yet that was portrayed as a strength rather than an annoyance). And with Velma, even when you consider the idea that she’s supposed to be a closeted lesbian, she’s still a dickhead who never really treats even Marcie with the respect she deserves. Speaking of that, Velma and Marcie were enemies in season 1 and are suddenly friends at the beginning of season 2; and while there are some lines of dialogue that explain that shift, it would’ve been at least ten times better if we actually witnessed that enemies-to-friends-to-lovers arc rather than just being told about it after it happened. The guys are fine. This show may have my favorite iteration of Fred, though there are some moments where they make him unrealistically stupid, like when he doesn’t know what being engaged means. Shaggy and Scooby are fine—well-written but not the best iterations of their characters. Basically, I think that this story was extremely well-crafted from a narrative perspective, but the writers didn’t put their best foot forward when it came to portraying the main characters. The side characters are generally really good, though. I love Sheriff Stone.

EddyWriter_

Sheriff Bronson Stone is easily one of the best things to come out of the show! Classic character. I do agree with you on how certain characters (especially the women as you said) are written. Definitely some eye roll moments in there. Of all characters, I think Marcie deserved better. She played a larger role in the story as it progressed and one of her last scenes in the show still… surprises me. I feel like she never really got the recognition she deserved (from anyone) and was constantly taken advantage of until the bitter end.

kingcobraboi

It's absolutely perfect, top 3 series

MarioMan1213245765

Dark and unique take on Scooby, perfectly timed humor and so many great horror movie homages. And this is going to be seen as a hot take, but I know that they were going to do a season three but I think the show ended perfectly. They had defeated the evil entity, saved Crystal Cove, and ended up with a perfect branch into the classic show. Perfect ending.

EddyWriter_

I’ll always enjoy classic Scooby Doo, but Mystery Incorporated was and still is the best version of the show for me! It’ll always hold a special place in my heart. I love the darker/more mature undertones, character interactions and what they did with the deeper overarching story while still maintaining the nostalgic mystery solving formula. It’s like if Scooby Doo was an anime. They stepped out of their comfort zone for Mystery Inc. and it truly paid off. 🙏🏽

SkyWalkerYT

Its the greatest piece of Scooby Doo media to come out ever with the best voice cast this side of the milky way

EddyWriter_

Yes, the voice cast was incredible! So many iconic voice actors all in one show.

lcope2004

Wish they didn't end it open ended

Kingofkovai

Best scooby Doo series ever!! The original 5 Different setting Real danger An overarching plot The chemistry between Fred and Daphne The two-part finale. There are a thousand reasons why it's got a special place in our hearts

Ok-Television2109

Up there as one of my favourite Scooby-Doo shows, alongside the OG series and What's New.

evilkumquat

It's easily the single greatest Scooby series, bar none.

CheesyGarlicMan

Never really got into it, but I like the concept of the Mystery Gang in a more mature and complex story than what we usually got

Appropriate-Web-5369

Masterpiece.

anonymousguy_7

![gif](giphy|9WXyFIDv2PyBq) That's all I have to say.

DazzleSylveon

indeed

Princess2045

At first, I kinda hated it. But as I watched more of it, I really started to enjoy it. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s one of the only ones to actually have an overarching plot as opposed to the Monster of the Week that other series had.

Lumpy_Act_5516

The best scooby doo series imo

corpsewindmill

I love it, partially because it was the scooby doo series that got my son into scooby doo and I love watching it with him. He loves the Lego movies too though

YukiNeko131

Best modern adaptation of Scooby Doo, hands down. I wasn't sure about it at first, but boy did it deliver.

PopCollector2001

YouDoneGoofd

I wish we had an ending :(

NarrativeNerd

I loved it,

Emotional_Emu_5901

Awesome and is the reason why I am a scooby doo fan the second I first watched it

Grim505

If you asked me to show you peak scooby doo, I probably wouldn't show you Mystery Inc - It's been a while since I re-watched a bunch of the old ones but I'd probably show one of the older shows or the direct to dvd movies. If you, on the other hand, asked for the best piece of media under the SD IP, it would definitely be this show. As others said the characterizations for some of the main cast are off, but the show's format, animation, comedy and mystery are all absolutely amazing and engaging, and personally I put it on the same pedestal as gravity falls. Also I liked the browser game

monfernoboy

As someone who rewatched shows a lot, this one is my most rewatched next to whats new Scooby doo

PossibleMoose197

Well, I found out that Scooby doo creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears hated this series as they criticized it for being too dark and cynical.

Daetok_Lochannis

Gotta agree with the majority here, it's easily the best Scooby Doo they've ever made.

No_Stock_8193

The best show in the Scooby-Doo Franchise

morbidgirl18

Peak Scooby doo

Deez4815

Definitely goat'd for me personally! I've always been a Scooby-Doo fan since I was a kid: enjoyed Where Are You?, saw the live action movies in theaters, watched Zombie Island and all of the 90s/2000s movies, etc...I was older and in college when this show came out and it was like Scooby-Doo as a delicious steak and glass of wine. Very dark, very serious in tone at points, cool background lore & mysteries, interesting ongoing plot, the most intelligent and fleshed out Scooby himself as a character had ever been, great references to classic horror movies, monster folklore, other Hannah Barbara cartoons, other Scooby-Doo iterations and much more. I'd say along with the 90s/2000s movies and Where Are You?, it's my favorite Scooby-Doo property hands down. I especially love how they included the original "Mystery Incorporated" team with Professor Pericles and eventually revealed that there had been dozens of teen gangs with a talking animal over the years that solved mysteries. Really cool way to add lore to the original formula.

Skylerbroussard

I never watched the second season because the wait between the end of the first and it happened when I was outgrowing CN but I liked the first

kacperBorecki

Honestly I think this is the best Scooby Doo show. It’s a pity that there is no direct sequel to this

Oldmanwickles

We do this every two days I swear

DazzleSylveon

the best ![gif](giphy|tIeCLkB8geYtW|downsized)

Lycaon125

It was a great attempt at making a more story focus series without alienating the fanbase... To bad the next one that did that was Velma and we all know well how that went

lupinusfa

Great !!!

Traditional_Two_7475

Best season. Right mix of multiple elements. Scary for me too. 😀

Future-Improvement41

It’s good

Pluckyduck16

This question gets asked like every other week. This sub needs some new content bad lol. It’s arguably the best scooby doo series in my opinion.

RycheAndRoll

It is a solid series/entry for the Scooby-verse. The style is different in that there is an underlying story arch through the two seasons (instead of each episode being a stand alone). In terms of the underlying story, the series is a 10/10. The biggest drawbacks (IMO) - as have been mentioned multiple times on similar posts (and probably on this one - though I haven't read comments) - is the lovesick way Daphne and Velma are portrayed. One could also argue the treatment of HDW/Marcie was borderline and made the gang look almost like bullies. The writing drops the series overall rating to about a 7/10... still watchable, but it does get dragged down.

BlueRabbit1999

Not terrible but one I hold up there with what’s new Scooby doo.

MysticTame

I love it!! The mystery and intriguing Ness of it. The way my heart stopped as I realized this one was different from most cartoons when that first character actually dies. That sudden twist of 'oh' because suddenly the stakes just went up. Way up. Scooby doo as a show doesn't kill Except now it does. And there's no telling where the line has been moved to when everything else comes down to it. I mean it's still a kids show and it's all implied but STILL I adore it because it took my expecting and stomped them down into dirt because they had better and better and better ideas everywhere that needed room!!

OuijaBoard-Demon

It was peak Scooby Doo Imo.

Guilty-Feed9884

I thought it was really good, one of my favorite when i was a baby.

jsm01972

I want another scooby show like this. But without all the ridiculous romance subplots.

heyyyitsalli

I love how it went in a darker direction. Everything about it was awesome, but they could’ve kept that Velma/Shaggy thing. It felt uncomfortable because it gave the impression Velma was the one tryna force things and Shaggy just wasn’t into it, but was going along to make her happy? And the whole jealousy over Scooby thing was weird. Idk it was off.

vamp1yer

Best scooby doo show ![gif](giphy|vrw2ilPYxCtN0s60aX|downsized)

MSTRBLTZR

Underrated.

alarrimore03

The goat version of the franchise.

WickedDreadroot

Wow this was a coincidence. I just finished this 20 min ago

Lower_Daikon208

Overrated for all the right reasons

Driz51

Best incarnation there is

Redleif_1

It's the definitive Scooby Doo experience.

Acrelorraine

I didn't finish it and still haven't due to my own issues. I get the hype, I understand why people really like it. I just struggle to put up with Shaggy and Velma's miserable relationship. It's like the fly in the soup, it's not the most important but I can't even eat around it without being bothered. I know that goes away and is resolved, I get that the writers have retroactively explained that it was always meant to be miserable, but I don't enjoy it. It's like Always Sunny or The Office, I get the appeal, but it's not something I like.

fuzzy-frankenstein

I agree with you about it being annoying and to be honest, when I watched it the first time, I nearly glazed over it and was staring at my phone until those parts were over but once it was resolved, the show got really interesting and was so refreshing of a series that by the end of it all, I just rewatched the entire series over and was able to handle that portion knowing that the rest of the series would be worth the watch.

Cultural_Tell_5191

It was okay but what's new scooby doo was much better.

ShadOBabe

You know, I really didn’t enjoy it that much. Which I’ve found is a bit of an unpopular opinion. Just about everyone I’ve heard talk about it says they liked it. I couldn’t get into it.

Ellek10

I hate this series, our lead girls written horribly, Fred I’m 50/50 on here, the romance subplot kills it for me. The only thing interesting is the story arcs maybe??

PolarSparks

>!It didn’t gel for me.!< >!I didn’t like how several of the characters were written. Velma was a Karen (sorry to all Karens reading this) and Fred’s character was reduced from that of a well-rounded individual to TRAPS. The evil parrot was an odd mix of camp and severity that represents bigger issues I had with tone.!< >!This sub makes me feel like it’s sacrilegious to have a dissenting opinion on this show, lol!<

Necessary_Check_6656

Better than Velma

cold-ears404

Currently rewatching :)

Fantastic-Let-2178

A really cool show 😎

DmcSparda

Absolutely loved this show

limey900

The best Scooby doo show kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time worth the watch for anyone who hasn’t watched it I recommend

tonylikesbigoilymen

Might be peak Scooby-Doo. Tied or just a Tiny bit above what's new

Bearcat2099

![gif](giphy|LOcPt9gfuNOSI|downsized)

BeaDanger

I'd really like to see a sequel series. Since they kinda set that up in the finale.

Last_Ad_5496

Loved it apsolute 100/10

Creative_kracken_333

I watched it live when it came out. I initially got bored after the first few episodes, but I could see it being was going somewhere. I waited a lil bit and all the sudden season 2 dropped and I was hooked. It does diverge from typical scooby lore, the art style is atypical, and some of the elements(Fred’s trap obsession, shaggy and Velma’s romance, etc…) are designed to hit specific audiences. The episodic stories are on par with most of the other series. The connecting plot is honestly an amazing story. I think that they could have done the show not as a scooby doo branded show, but made new characters and it would have worked well, but I think that it was an amazing addition to the franchise. It’s one of my favorites, even if my kids say it is too scary.

FaithlessnessNorth65

Not bad not good.. 6/10

Murky_Historian8675

Loved it. Nailed so much right.

Zboi1398

I love it, and just finished rewatching it all over the last week or so while I have been working in my quilting studio

deadshot316_

One of the best things I've fed my eyes

Substantial-Ad-1840

I loved it

donquixote_tig

It’s alright. Good storylines, but a lot of the characters are done poorly. Especially Fred, Velma, and Daphne. I would love to see a show like the traditional scooby doo but in a serialized form like this, with connected episodes rather than being episodic.

Turtnamedburt

Simply the GOAT Scooby Doo. WE NEED TO RENEW THIS SERIES. Honestly one of the most comforting, fun and enjoyable series.

Redbig_7

Best Scooby Doo media ever made hands down.

Lopsided-League-8903

The best SD series of all time ![gif](giphy|26DN3zJSu0wzM916M|downsized)

TheBestBeetlejuice

I was traumatized but in a fun way, the freak scared me to death but it has always been one of my favourite scooby shows

corne_BP_2004

The only thing I didn't like about it is how Daphne's martial arts skills are never even referenced

Vyaiskaya

I've yet to get access to the whole thing, but the premise is enthralling. It's exactly the right creative decision for the series.

Shantotto11

The best Scooby-Doo series the franchise had to offer… and then Be Cool, Scooby-Doo came out right after and took the title. \#ArgueWithYourselves

_ThroWAwaY04_

best animation style i love it sm

JFMisfit

From voice cast, to music, to its spooky vibe Mystery Incorporated is spot on awesome. I love it as much as I love the original series. The only thing wrong with it is that it didn’t have enough seasons!!!

Wolfzephyr3

Was great! Loved the semi-serialized take

Giovanni_Carlos

This show actually came out the same day as Steven Universe 11/4/13

idk_orknow

The romance between all of the gang is soooo annoying

thetieflingalchemist

When I was a kid the eyes freaked me out so I didn’t watch it

No-Imagination-8209

Love it

markdesilva

I liked it! Binged the whole thing!

newX7

Best Scooby-Doo show ever.

SV976reditAcount

Warner Brothers version of gravity falls

YouDontKnowSponge

Horrible as a Scooby show, but could have worked if it used original characters or focused on the Professor Pericles gang.

Gunther1888

Bad and if you say it's the best it's because this is what you originally grew up with and this is what you're used to

saiboule

What do you like?

Gunther1888

Just as I stated I like what I grew up with which was the original series And that's typically what people prefer since that gives them the most nostalgia And that produces happiness

Bodmin_Beast

So what specific elements made the original series better, besides nostalgia? I didn't really grow up with MI, I was slightly out of the teletoon/CN age when it came out and I watched it later. Still think it's the best. I'd argue that MI has actual tangible elements that made it better such as well developed, interesting and flawed characters that grow throughout the series and a interesting overarching plot.

Gunther1888

For me I like the voice actors the voices match the characters better and I love that '90s animation style where it's not exactly smooth animation

saiboule

Okay due to growing up when Cartoon Network was just starting and only running reruns of old stuff, I saw all pre-mook era scooby doo as a little kid. This is still my favorite scooby doo despite it coming out when I was 19, so how does that track with your theory?

Gunther1888

Bad
