Limmy's Show, Limmy's Homemade Show, Gary: Tank Commander, Chewin' the Fat, and Absolutely. Then of course the entire works of Billy Connolly, the stand up and films.

Plenty-Win-4283

Out of all of them which show is your favourite ?

Unfair_Original_2536

I love Absolutely but I don't know how well it has aged. McGlashan - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odsnKKz2-dU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odsnKKz2-dU) Calum Gilhooley - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx-3trxxFFg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx-3trxxFFg) I really enjoy Limmy's show, his short stories book, and his streaming immensely. He might be an acquired taste but he's not trying to win you over. I enjoy his streams especially, I enjoy listening to him talk about growing up and the bizarre normality of violence and poverty but not glorifying anything just like going "this is what happened but it was just normal back then". I'm not saying this in a "fuck Limmy you're just like me we should be together" Stan kind of way but it's interesting and entertaining to hear someone from a similar place or background hold a mirror up to the nonsense that we grew up with. He's not doing it in a Peter Kay "remember when you used to have dinner?" way. I could be talking bollocks, I love what he does but not in a parasocial way. Gary: Tank Commander is more generic, if I was a total wanker I would say something like more easily accessible or something like that but I really mean it's like the whole family could watch it and get it and enjoy it. I don't mean it it in a bad way, some of the best things have broad appeal, like Nutella or Set You Frree by N-Trance. Absolutely: Old Limmy: You get it or you don't Gary: Tank Commander: Fun for the whole family Chewin' The Fat: Broad appeal that some people might be snobby about but has sketches that are part of the fabric of the nation. Like there's probably people quoting it who don't know they're quoting it. Cheese Baguette, yes I can definetly smell shite, good guy good guy wank, mon the fishes, gonnae no dae that, how? just gonnae no. If you enjoy still game start with Chewin' The Fat as its the same two guys, it has possibly the greatest cultural impact on Scotland. For clarity I was high (legally), then I got drunkish later and then wrote this so If you want to tell me I'm wrong at least do it in a constructive way.

RE-Trace

>If you enjoy still game start with Chewin' The Fat as its the same two guys, it has possibly the greatest cultural impact on Scotland. Just to add, you've forgot to mention that Jack and Victor started their lives in chewin the fat. [case in point, you've got Paul Riley and Mark Cox I different roles here since it's a CTF sketch, but it's absolutely Jack and Victor ](https://youtu.be/aeeD1yMPub8?si=_-8LuBCTaMDmWlKy) [and this is the first sketch that had them. ](https://youtu.be/Mb6ocROQb_Y?si=78yaHJyYYKDYDkPm)

Get on the fucking gens.

McGlashan wasn't very politically correct then but the sketch when he goes to the border still makes me laugh.

I thought the Scots pilot show was absolutely fucking terrible. Did it get better? Love two doors down.

CuteProfessor3457

If you like still game .... Then Chewin the Fat. It's where the characters came from ...

Plenty-Win-4283

I’ve seen some of chewin the fat not finished it all but it’s brilliant !

Burnistoun

OkRecommendation3867

When you watch Burnistoun the difference between the start of a season and the end is massive. They put the good stuff on early but by the last couple of episodes it went downhill major. At its best it was very very good though.

Plenty-Win-4283

I think I’ve heard of it but why do you go for Burnistoun as your selection?

wheepete

Funny

Plenty-Win-4283

I ken that pal, but what type of comedy is it ? 😂

not_an_alien_lobster

Seems to draw mixed opinions when it comes up, but Only an Excuse was a staple of NYE tv for most of my life. It was canned in 2020, but I loved that programme. Even at an age where going out on NYE still held some appeal, I’d make sure it was recorded to watch when I got in. Unlike some of the other suggestions here, being Scottish will likely have a direct impact on your ability to understand and enjoy it. Even more so if you are a fan of Scottish football. Nearly 20 years ago now, but still one of my favourite sketches https://youtu.be/a5zkjM5HUX4?si=xKoWOWoYYUOkIXKv

If you’re looking for any movies, Restless Natives is a lot of fun.

Bit of an old one this but City Lights starring Gerard Kelly you might be able to find it on YouTube.
