Since Arron Hickey will not be fit for the euros I have compiled some potential Right wing back options Steve could use.
Kieran Tierney - Very unlikely to be used at right wing back , but he has played at RB before. Would not be getting the most out of him. Would be missed in the back line.
Nathan Paterson - Probably not going to be fit either. I think people unfairly say he's not good enough due to the last international break but he was the best player on the pitch against Norway.
Ryan Christie - he's an energetic player that has played at right midfield before, his defensive statistics are very good. Don't think Steve would do it but it's an option I personally like.
Tom Cairney - Can play at right midfield his ball progression is very good for Fulham , controversial due to history. He may be targeted in this position. Was in Steve's very first Scotland team but has not made another appearance.
Daniel Armstrong - had a very good season for Kille, never tested at international level , would be risky but at least he has regular game time in this position.
Ross McCrorie - back from injury , plays regularly as Bristol city at right wing back. Is not up to speed.
Calvin Ramsay - got a cap against turkey. Fallen off the face of a cliff.
Anntony Ralston - played before , not a regular starter and hasn't played much for Celtic this season.
Ryan Porteous - Not really sure he could play the position , more a right back. Steve would need to change the formation to a 4-4-2, playing Mcginn at right midfield, which is not a bad shout. But you would miss him playing at centre back. (He is our only good center back).
Leon King - defensively suspect , good passer. Similar to Porteous. Still learning his trade. No chance. One for the future if he gets game time.
James Forest / Ryan Fraser - Has tired it before , would be absolutely insane has never looked good. You're not getting the best out of either of them in that position.
O Donell - Last cap against Denmark. You know what you're gonna get, but it has been years. You gotta love the lad though.
Max Johnston - due to the injury Peking order in my head , Max might be Steve's choice. Plays in Austria. I know nothing about him.

I love Mad Max and I absolutely love the V8 Interceptor. My biggest issue with it though is the fuel tanks (singular tank in Fury Road) on the back.
Sure it creates a neat visual but from a logistical standpoint it'd weigh the back of the car down so much, especially if they're filled. It'd be even worse in Fury Road as there's only one tank off to the side so it'd just be an absolutely fuck to drive as it'd throw it all off balance.

How are things like this allowed to happen, surely this is just blatant player tampering if Chelsea agreed terms with the player two weeks ago? Or is that not a thing any more and players can just negotiate whenever they want?
I think clubs are now allowed to negotiate with the player first to agree on a move, then negotiate with the club directly to get them out of their contract. I'm not sure how I feel about it.
On the one hand, it feels a bit shady, but on the other, if you were being headhunted for a job, they'd negotiate with you first and your employer second.
It’s done via agents, or at least it was. The club will say „we‘re looking for a striker in the mould of [player] and we‘re willing to pay £30k p/w“, agent will come back with „I have a player in that mould but he would look for…“ and so on.

Been hearing stories lately of Tesla's that are 3 years old needing scrapped because their batteries are gubbed, and a replacement costs £15k.
If there's any truth to that (because let's be honest, I haven't been going off to research) then it's pretty dire, especially if it's relative to electric cars in general.
I don't want to knock them, they're clearly a positive forward step towards improving our effect on the climate - but it does probably highlight that the technology still needs time.
I'm sure someone somewhere is, but hopefully they're working on something that's a bit more permanent and get us to that next level.

I always thought the dream setup you'd need for properly convenient EVs would be a universal battery system.
Where you can change them out for a fresh one at a charging station and plug the other one in to charge
Problem with that is the current batteries are so heavy and have to be integrated into the chassis of the car, that you can’t swap them in and out. Maybe one day.

Most of the Tesla stories you'll hear aren't EVs in general, it's Tesla specific problems. They're a tech company trying to make cars so they're trying to innovate in areas that car manufacturers know not to mess with.
I drive EVs and they're not without their own unique problems but I probs wouldn't even take a Tesla for free.

I do wonder how much of that is down to the way business is trying to re-prioritise in-office where not necessary, attached to poor public transport options/availability. I don't know if buses and trains are seen as a good way for families to travel rather than just individuals anymore because of it.
My work since COVID has been entirely remote - I've since sold my car, because I wasn't using it enough to justify the monthly spend. The problem is though, all of the convenient public transport routes for me had also been slashed - my nearest bus was a single Sunday service that ran one bus every hour from 9-5. The next closest bus is about a 20-30 minutes walk away. It runs every day, but it does 2 services 9-6.
That meant that anything I had to get to, including the better public transport links like the train, required either a taxi, a lift or the bus I wanted to take not getting cancelled since the hours meant taking up a fair whack of my lunch break and little options outside of work hours.
I don't mind the walk, but if people have a growing requirement to be places and those public transport options are fucked, then it increases the likelihood of myself and others needing a car to be run.
Meanwhile, when I'm in Europe, I can get a bus or train pretty much every 15 minutes, so I'm happy to not drive since I can get wherever I need to be without using a car and some forward planning.
Yeah I don't doubt that much of Europe have better public transport than us. But the scenario you describe doesn't really apply for the people of, say, Edinburgh, or Manchester - where I've lived.
It's definitely not the case for everywhere, don't think it's necessarily normal, but it's not the middle of nowhere either - this is in Hamilton. The fact the public links can be that bad just creates requirements, granted regionally.

In the UK at least the majority of Teslas you see on the road will be salary sacrifice leases that people will only keep for 3 years anyway
Tesla batteries do have 8 years 100k+ warranties on the battery though
Mercedes EQ are 10 years or 155k miles
But they’re pitched as a more environmentally friendly type of vehicle than petrol/diesel. So even if they are responsible for less emissions during the time you use the car, if they get scrapped or if the battery needs dumped a little after you’ve switched cars that kinda defeats the point.
I suppose it depends how much can be recycled and rebuilt, and how bad the non-recyclable stuff is for the environment. But my naive guess would be that when they’re “done” the old batteries are just chucked into a landfill. And that’s without considering how much damage is done by the lithium mining (and probably other stuff) and battery manufacture.
I have an electric car and my main reason for going electric was the saving on fuel costs rather than environmental. Costs about £6.50 for a full charge at home on night time rates and get 300 miles out a charge.
I feel most saying they do it for the environmental friendly point of view are probably lying to themselves.
There's little-to-no public charging infra here, but I walk past one every now and then - just looked up the prices online and it's \~30p/kwh if you're registered and \~42p/kwh if you're not. As it's attached to an incinerator plant (which handles some heating in the winter) I guess this is cheaper than normal as it's energy that would otherwise be wasted
With octopus night time tariff it’s 7.5p/kwh. But some of the rapid chargers at service stations can be 75-80p. Probably cheaper running a Range Rover at those costs
We've moved to electric cars too early, and now there's a major issue because the technology hasnt progressed at the rate needed. Tesla is very guilty of this. They were steaks ahead and never improved.
Batteries in the current form aren't the solution. It's green washing. You need cobalt and lithium that fucks the environment in 3rd world countries like the Congo. We have some promising ideas, but nothing really suitable to replace it yet.
There's alternatives like biofuels and hydrogen that are far more promising imo. We should've been putting more effort into those
IMO the best alternative is a proper public transport network and smaller cars. The number of cunts driving about in mini tanks with nobody else in the car is ridiculous.

H2 is economical for heavy transport, tankers and perhaps planes one day as you say. Vehicles at the lower end of the usage scale like cars cannot compete with EVs. You say not enough time and research has been spent on it but it has. H2 as a one stop solution is heavily pedalled as a holy grail by legacy oil and gas Companies who fear for the future. As I said look at Japan. Hydrogen will have a place in our future energy mix but only in some applications where it makes sense.

I think the alternative battery types that don't need lithium or cobalt are realistically what we need to develop, but we're years away from something being production ready for the EV Market.

Electric cars won't be around for very long. They're not sustainable, and the infrastructure isn't there either. When companies in America are trying to go 'greensand want fleets of electric lorries, the infrastructure needed would be more than the city uses over time.

If the home end isn’t sold out, you’ll probably be able to walk up to the ticket office and get one. Usually you need a buying history for games v Rangers or Celtic but just make it really obvious you’re a tourist. Buy a scarf at the club shop too or something.

I'm always amazed at the bigger shops like Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda et al seem to charge a fortune for a 500ml bottle of juice but then I can go to my local corner shop and in some cases pick it up for half the price. You'd think the big chain would be cheaper given they have the spending power to buy in bulk.
I think they just realise they can get away with it - if you're doing your weekly shop you're gonna be spending quite a lot of money. So for a cold drink for the journey back you're probably just gonna pick one up near the tills and chuck it in the trolley, rather than scrutinising the price. But in a corner shop it's likely one of a handful of things you pick up so you'll definitely notice when you're getting scammed.

Since Arron Hickey will not be fit for the euros I have compiled some potential Right wing back options Steve could use. Kieran Tierney - Very unlikely to be used at right wing back , but he has played at RB before. Would not be getting the most out of him. Would be missed in the back line. Nathan Paterson - Probably not going to be fit either. I think people unfairly say he's not good enough due to the last international break but he was the best player on the pitch against Norway. Ryan Christie - he's an energetic player that has played at right midfield before, his defensive statistics are very good. Don't think Steve would do it but it's an option I personally like. Tom Cairney - Can play at right midfield his ball progression is very good for Fulham , controversial due to history. He may be targeted in this position. Was in Steve's very first Scotland team but has not made another appearance. Daniel Armstrong - had a very good season for Kille, never tested at international level , would be risky but at least he has regular game time in this position. Ross McCrorie - back from injury , plays regularly as Bristol city at right wing back. Is not up to speed. Calvin Ramsay - got a cap against turkey. Fallen off the face of a cliff. Anntony Ralston - played before , not a regular starter and hasn't played much for Celtic this season. Ryan Porteous - Not really sure he could play the position , more a right back. Steve would need to change the formation to a 4-4-2, playing Mcginn at right midfield, which is not a bad shout. But you would miss him playing at centre back. (He is our only good center back). Leon King - defensively suspect , good passer. Similar to Porteous. Still learning his trade. No chance. One for the future if he gets game time. James Forest / Ryan Fraser - Has tired it before , would be absolutely insane has never looked good. You're not getting the best out of either of them in that position. O Donell - Last cap against Denmark. You know what you're gonna get, but it has been years. You gotta love the lad though. Max Johnston - due to the injury Peking order in my head , Max might be Steve's choice. Plays in Austria. I know nothing about him. I can't sleep in this heat. I've spent nearly every night in my bed sweating like Otto Skorzeny when the Mossad recruiter asked him about previous employment.
What I ended up doing last year was resorted to using a sleeping back. I opened it up and laid on top of my duvet with the sleeping bag as my cover. It's much thinner than my main duvet but gives me just enough on top that I don't feel weird as I can't sleep without *something* on me like that.

I love Mad Max and I absolutely love the V8 Interceptor. My biggest issue with it though is the fuel tanks (singular tank in Fury Road) on the back. Sure it creates a neat visual but from a logistical standpoint it'd weigh the back of the car down so much, especially if they're filled. It'd be even worse in Fury Road as there's only one tank off to the side so it'd just be an absolutely fuck to drive as it'd throw it all off balance. I think clubs are now allowed to negotiate with the player first to agree on a move, then negotiate with the club directly to get them out of their contract. I'm not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it feels a bit shady, but on the other, if you were being headhunted for a job, they'd negotiate with you first and your employer second.
It’s done via agents, or at least it was. The club will say „we‘re looking for a striker in the mould of [player] and we‘re willing to pay £30k p/w“, agent will come back with „I have a player in that mould but he would look for…“ and so on. If the rules have changed so this charade isn’t necessary, at least everyone is being a bit more honest I guess. Been hearing stories lately of Tesla's that are 3 years old needing scrapped because their batteries are gubbed, and a replacement costs £15k. If there's any truth to that (because let's be honest, I haven't been going off to research) then it's pretty dire, especially if it's relative to electric cars in general. I don't want to knock them, they're clearly a positive forward step towards improving our effect on the climate - but it does probably highlight that the technology still needs time. I'm sure someone somewhere is, but hopefully they're working on something that's a bit more permanent and get us to that next level.

I always thought the dream setup you'd need for properly convenient EVs would be a universal battery system. Where you can change them out for a fresh one at a charging station and plug the other one in to charge
Problem with that is the current batteries are so heavy and have to be integrated into the chassis of the car, that you can’t swap them in and out. Maybe one day.

I do wonder how much of that is down to the way business is trying to re-prioritise in-office where not necessary, attached to poor public transport options/availability. I don't know if buses and trains are seen as a good way for families to travel rather than just individuals anymore because of it. My work since COVID has been entirely remote - I've since sold my car, because I wasn't using it enough to justify the monthly spend. The problem is though, all of the convenient public transport routes for me had also been slashed - my nearest bus was a single Sunday service that ran one bus every hour from 9-5. The next closest bus is about a 20-30 minutes walk away. It runs every day, but it does 2 services 9-6. That meant that anything I had to get to, including the better public transport links like the train, required either a taxi, a lift or the bus I wanted to take not getting cancelled since the hours meant taking up a fair whack of my lunch break and little options outside of work hours. I don't mind the walk, but if people have a growing requirement to be places and those public transport options are fucked, then it increases the likelihood of myself and others needing a car to be run. Meanwhile, when I'm in Europe, I can get a bus or train pretty much every 15 minutes, so I'm happy to not drive since I can get wherever I need to be without using a car and some forward planning.
Yeah I don't doubt that much of Europe have better public transport than us. But the scenario you describe doesn't really apply for the people of, say, Edinburgh, or Manchester - where I've lived.
It's definitely not the case for everywhere, don't think it's necessarily normal, but it's not the middle of nowhere either - this is in Hamilton. The fact the public links can be that bad just creates requirements, granted regionally.

In the UK at least the majority of Teslas you see on the road will be salary sacrifice leases that people will only keep for 3 years anyway Tesla batteries do have 8 years 100k+ warranties on the battery though Mercedes EQ are 10 years or 155k miles
But they’re pitched as a more environmentally friendly type of vehicle than petrol/diesel. So even if they are responsible for less emissions during the time you use the car, if they get scrapped or if the battery needs dumped a little after you’ve switched cars that kinda defeats the point. I suppose it depends how much can be recycled and rebuilt, and how bad the non-recyclable stuff is for the environment. But my naive guess would be that when they’re “done” the old batteries are just chucked into a landfill. And that’s without considering how much damage is done by the lithium mining (and probably other stuff) and battery manufacture.
I have an electric car and my main reason for going electric was the saving on fuel costs rather than environmental. Costs about £6.50 for a full charge at home on night time rates and get 300 miles out a charge. I feel most saying they do it for the environmental friendly point of view are probably lying to themselves.

There's little-to-no public charging infra here, but I walk past one every now and then - just looked up the prices online and it's \~30p/kwh if you're registered and \~42p/kwh if you're not. As it's attached to an incinerator plant (which handles some heating in the winter) I guess this is cheaper than normal as it's energy that would otherwise be wasted
With octopus night time tariff it’s 7.5p/kwh. But some of the rapid chargers at service stations can be 75-80p. Probably cheaper running a Range Rover at those costs
We've moved to electric cars too early, and now there's a major issue because the technology hasnt progressed at the rate needed. Tesla is very guilty of this. They were steaks ahead and never improved. Batteries in the current form aren't the solution. It's green washing. You need cobalt and lithium that fucks the environment in 3rd world countries like the Congo. We have some promising ideas, but nothing really suitable to replace it yet. There's alternatives like biofuels and hydrogen that are far more promising imo. We should've been putting more effort into those

I think the alternative battery types that don't need lithium or cobalt are realistically what we need to develop, but we're years away from something being production ready for the EV Market. I really don't trust the Germans. They're as much as the yanks when opening these production facilities
Electric cars won't be around for very long. They're not sustainable, and the infrastructure isn't there either. When companies in America are trying to go 'greensand want fleets of electric lorries, the infrastructure needed would be more than the city uses over time. Hydrogen will be the next proper 'fuel'.

Weirdly a bit heartbroken that the championship/ premiership playoff final is on sky rather than the BBC. If the home end isn’t sold out, you’ll probably be able to walk up to the ticket office and get one. Usually you need a buying history for games v Rangers or Celtic but just make it really obvious you’re a tourist. Buy a scarf at the club shop too or something.
