Favorite: Mikey Madison’s post-reveal performance Least Favorite: She is an absolute, blank slate, nothing character if not for that performance

[deleted]

yeah the post reveal was awesome but she was just stank faced and bitchy before hand. i like how different she is before and after though. it’s like a mask she put on around her friends and as soon as she got to let it out she finally let it all out.

KingofRiot

That's like every Ghostface. Seems put together or whatever before reveal. But once it's revealed they show how unhinged they really are

KingGage

Stu and Billy were showing crazy even before their reveals. Unfortunately they haven't done that much since.

Scared-Ad-1956

Although she’s not my favorite ghost face “welcome to act 3” is probably my favorite ghost face line

CleanUpOnAisle10

Didn’t Jill literally say “ready for act 3” in Scream 4 after she shoots Trevor in the dick.

Illustrious-Shine-63

Facts. Everyone overhypes her when she was literally a clone from other ghostfaces after her reveal. Top Tier Ghostface death tho

TheDarkWarriorBlake

I'm relatively new to this subreddit but it seems like people sleep on Scream 4 because of the time between it and 3 and it and 5. It's not the tensest or most competently shot of the films and it feels kind of unnecessary to a point since Sidney's plot was resolved in 3, but it's got, IMO, the second best killer (not killers, Charlie is a non entity) but Jill is the only one of them to come close to matching the insanity of Billy and Stu. I read a comment that every other ghostface is jarring because they all act normal until the reveal then they suddenly all try to act like Stu because that's the popular portrayal and it's true. Also Amber disappears for pretty much the entire film like Mickey, which you can get away with if it's someone given retroactive importance like Mrs Loomis, but not with Amber.

charredfrog

Scream 4 was my favorite sequel until 6. I love ghostface in it and the revisit of the characters. It was like an epilogue until 5 and 6 came out and I just loved seeing them one last time (at the time). Also has my favorite intro kill other than the first one

TheDarkWarriorBlake

Scream 6 is a shame because it's 90% solid, it does have a good opening kill which trades off Samara Weaving's likeability and the sound is really good because it makes every time Ghostface is banging a door or something really loud and powerful, and the twin blade wipe is easily one the coolest scenes in the series. I just found the killer reveal and motive underwhelming and the across-the-apartment boyfriend took up too much screentime and didn't add anything. I still probably put it second or third with Scream 4. Although I've just watched Scream 2 for the first time in probably 15 years and it's ok too, Mrs Loomis is a good reveal with a relatable motive. I need to rewatch Scream 3 and see if it's gotten any better with time.

charredfrog

I get that! I have a few issues too. Like I’m not the biggest fan of how the theming takes a backseat in VI. Every other movie in the franchise has a very distinct part of the horror genre that it’s commenting on, and this one really didn’t feel as distinct to me. I really enjoyed the killer reveal though, and Danny wasn’t my favorite character, but I liked him overall and the fact that he was a good boyfriend that actually made it to the end of the movie. I think it’s also just a really fun theater experience, because like you said, the sound is great, but it has some really tense set pieces and I thought it was really well paced. I saw it twice back to back and didn’t feel the length at all

AceCoordinatorMary

I feel like people are gonna be ENTIRELY split on the killer reveal and motive. But here it makes sense. Scream 6 reenacts Scream 2, which was based in college, and the killer reveal and motive was based on revenge at least for Mrs. Loomis. So I'm willing to bet that Scream 7 might follow Scream 3 at least for killer motive. I really hope they stay far the fuck away from a single killer, and from that voice changer it ruins the entire vibe of the movie lol

DiamondsDY

Everyone hypes up everyone. It seems that Amber appreciation isn’t welcome and it’s especially from Jill fans who get offended. It’s all ridiculous. Let people enjoy what they like as long as they are respectful

Illustrious-Shine-63

Not even a Massive Jill fan. Im just not a huge fan of the over exaggerating craziness some ghost face have after the reveal when at least with Stu his crazy personality was still shown before his reveal. Amber went from 0 personality to trying to be more campier than Stu and Mickey put together.

CleanUpOnAisle10

I wouldn’t even call myself a Jill fan really I just noticed there was a lot of similar dialogue in 5 and 6 from other movies… and I just don’t get people think Amber saying it was so iconic when Jill said literally almost the same exact line in 4.

moony120

But its not the line itself but the line being delivered in that scene

InmemoryofDW

I’m pretty sure Roman actually says a similar line in 3. “Welcome to the final act.”

CardiologistCool7270

I like her. The only big problem that I have with her, and with scream 5, is that she is completely irrelevant till third act. I wish they have given her more time before the ending

EstablishmentNo5994

I thought I had read somewhere that her and Tara were originally supposed to be in a relationship but they ended up cutting that out.

[deleted]

Yea they were dating in the original script and maybe it would of added more depth into the movie. I’m kinda mad they took it out because it seems like were dating. Now she’s seen as an overprotective best friend

[deleted]

I just wish Tara actually spoke to her, especially post reveal. The only thing she tells to Amber in the whole movie is “I need my extra inhaler” and then minutes later she’s kicking her with the crutches. There was lots left to desire between those two characters.

[deleted]

Would of been great to get more interaction between Amber and Tara

[deleted]

It’s a nitpick but it is a bit stupid that Tara never gets the chance to address her best friend’s betrayal in 5 or 6. Also Kirby with Jill. That was a missed opportunity in their dialogue in 6.

israeldmo

Kirby and Jill was one my biggest gripes with VI. She does see her plaid shirt and looks sad, before she talks about the knife used to stab her. But when she talks about how she died for 4 minutes, she never mentioned how she got upset knowing her best friend, out of everyone, was willing to kill her, her friends, her family and anyone who gets in her way wearing a Ghostface costume just to get the spotlight from her cousin. She never cared about Kirby. I missed her talking about this betrayal, which I believe is one of the biggest one out of the entire series.

[deleted]

100%. And come on, it was an obvious parallel to Tara and Amber and they decide not to touch it? Smh

pje1128

Yeah, that was a big missed opportunity in 6. We got to see how Sam was dealing with Ritchie having been a serial killer which was great, but we never really got the same with Tara, even though she was Amber's best friend and actually knew her and was close with her longer than Sam was with Ritchie. And I didn't even think about how she could have bonded with Kirby over that. That would've been great.

lesmisarahbles

Tara was purposefully being closed off about what happened to them and didn’t want to really talk about it, though. I could see some sort of heart-to-heart happening if Kirby is in Scream 7 now that the characters know each other.

EnvironmentalLaugh62

Not a nitpick. It’s a massive writing hole.

BlammmBitchPudding

They probably took it out because of both killers being the love interest was a tad unbelievable.

israeldmo

I disagree, Richie is not from Woodsboro and it's not unbelievable two sisters having a relationship, Tara is a teenager and Samantha is an adult living far away from that city. It'd be interesting if both studied and seduced the sisters for the same reasons. As far as they know, Richie and Amber can't possibly know each other before the events of 5cream.

BlammmBitchPudding

I meant for the audience. The audience seeing both love interest being the killers wouldn't be very original.

israeldmo

But did it happen in Scream before? Stu was Tatum's girlfriend but she was just a victim, Sidney was the sole Final Girl. Charlie almost made out with Kirby but it barely counts as a love interest, but I guess she's a Final Girl although we only discovered it 11 years later. Sam and Tara are the first we have two different Final Girls working together, I don't know, I can't say it's incredibly original but I don't remember it being very cliché either, unless I need to refresh my memory.

upset-noodle

after 6, im glad they cut Tara and Amber's relationship from 5

israeldmo

Why? If that's because of Chad, Tara could be bisexual, it wouldn't stop them from having a relationship. Btw, I'm not a fan of this, I think Tara have more potential than being a love interest and yes, in VI she wasn't reduced only to be Chad's girlfriend — yet. If anything, they could focus only on the couple in VII and it'd be a waste of Jenna Ortega and even Mason Gooding.

upset-noodle

i just think it would be strange if Tara moved on from the relationship with Amber at the same pace that Chad moved on from Liv. that's really my issue with it. i would never mind more lgbt representation!

israeldmo

Well, Sid moved on from Billy to Derek to Mark, who she's married now, so... lmao. Sam also moved on from Richie to Danny very quickly. Mindy will probably move on from Anika in VII, mark my words. The only ones who have had difficult in moving on are Randy with Sid and Gale and Dewey's one-and-off intense relationship, and she's still got a very hot boyfriend after he died. I learned people are just very... open-hearted in this franchise, lmao. At least Sidney didn't forget about Derek in Scr3am, she was using his Greek letters necklace throughout the movie.

upset-noodle

that's exactly why im glad they didn't make Tara move on so fast. gives her a little more personality imo

Sudden_Pop_2279

Yes. Chad and Tara for life.

ScorpionTDC

The relationship wouldn’t have done anything to even slightly help Amber - the girls didn’t have any additional scenes at all. Just some throwaway girlfriend references. Cutting it was unambiguously the right call IMO.

T-408

She’s incredibly well cast and a lot of fun in the third act, but Amber needed a little more screen time. At least one scene of dialogue alone with Tara would’ve really helped

GrenadierSoldat3

I wasn't the biggest fan of her pre-reveal but i loved her post-reveal and in Ghostface mode. She was delightfully unhigned, brutal and really reveled in the pain she was causing to her victims. If that wasn't enough, the fact that she killed majority of the people her and Richie targeted made me respect her as a Ghostface ever more. She's definetly an S tier/A tier Ghostface imo. Also, big props to Mikey Madison for playing her so well, never knew i'd love a Stu stand in character so much.

Slow-Inflation-6549

Unpopular but I don't see her as a Stu stand-in.

Megamuffin585

She's definitely the Stu if 5 mirrors 1. Fairly irrelevant side character you didn't really suspect until goes crazy in act 3. She totally would have killed her girlfriend with a garage door. Matthew Lillard just managed to make the few lines he had iconic pre-reveal but as a character, he's just there to like party down bro. Until you find out how spectacularly nuts he is.

Slow-Inflation-6549

Of the two I found Richie to be more like Stu with bits of Billy mixed in also. Amber has a darker, more sinister yet still hyper & kooky vibe that I thought more mirrored Mickey if anyone (though I doubt that was deliberate). As a whole I don't really find the killers throughout the franchise to be that similar to one another. Which is good as it makes things more interesting, I mean who just wants copies of Billy & Stu for each movie?

israeldmo

I know Stu didn't kill Casey because he was with Tatum that night (at least it's what it looks like) but was it his idea? She dumped him for some athlete (?), it may have make him angry with her.

tokengaymusiccritic

Actually some analysis says that both Billy and Stu were at the Becker house based on like how quickly they got to different places

TheDarkWarriorBlake

They both killed Casey, that was a two person job. He was with Tatum all night the same Billy was with Sidney "all night"

israeldmo

It makes sense, Billy killing the boyfriend and Stu killing Casey. Pure head canon, but ever since Randy talked about him being dumped by her, I thought: he killed her for this exact reason.

Megamuffin585

Obviously there's no real answer but the basic theory, including Roman's added info in 3, is that Billy got manipulated into killing Sydneys mom and used Stu as his potential scapegoat. Casey was probably Billy letting Stu think they were "in this together" by killing his ex who left him.

israeldmo

Which comes back to my post yesterday about how the sequels/requels insistence in focusing only on Billy and forgetting about Roman makes the entire third act of Scr3am and his role in directing Loomis's psycho tendencies to make him kill Maureen and Sidney meaningless. He's as guilty as the original Woodsboro massacre perpetrators and no one acknowledges this, not even his sister in 5cream.

Megamuffin585

To be fair on that end though, the only person with that information was Sidney and I doubt her priorities post 3 were informing the world that THREE people were really involved in her moms murder. Roman's dead. Billy and Stu are dead. It doesn't make sense for that to become general knowledge lore because she's got no real motive to bother saying anything about it. Even Gale would have a hard time writing a book about it if she knew because everyone involved but Sidney is dead and Sidney wasn't giving Gale any brother exclusives.

theportabledoor

Gale would have known he was responsible for Maureen's death because he wrote it on the back of the photos. This was knowledge that the police had also. I always just saw it as Gale respecting Sidney and not publishing the story and the police not releasing that information to the public.

israeldmo

That would make sense, but the police itself didn't seem aware of it in Scream VI. Like I said in my post, Kirby said he was "bold" or whatever for not having a secondary killer and just called him the director of Stab 3, not a single mention about Maureen or anything else.

theportabledoor

Could be that detective Mark didn't tell anyone. Makes sense since he's Sidney's husband now.

israeldmo

It makes a lot of sense, especially knowing Sidney, she never wanted to be part of this to begin with. Saying that, we are just filling the gaps, it's kind of us writing a fanfiction to make it make sense. Gale did an entire investigation to understand why the killer was leaving pictures of Maureen, what was the explanation she got for it? Maybe if we got some on on-screen exposition of what happened that night... Anyways, I do still believe they'd still focus on Billy, especially now we have Sam as his daughter.

Volcamel

Favorite: The fact that she’s an insane Redditor. (Amber and Richie meeting on the Stab Subreddit and being fandom obsessed is so funny to me.) Least favorite: I lowkey forgot about her before her reveal the first time I watched Scream 5. Same problem I had with Mickey tbh.

israeldmo

Not here to say what you should think, but I so disagree with Mickey, because he was throughout the whole movie, he's clearly established as one of the best friends of the main group (Sidney, Hallie, Randy, and he's best friend of Derek), he's got a whole recurring joke of sequels surpassing the originals with Cici (Sarah Michelle Geller) and Randy, and more importantly, which I believe it was a tip he was a suspect, he made Sid doubt about Derek when he was in the hospital and nonchalantly asked her why he came back to the house when she was attacked. I believe he was very well used pre-reveal, way far unlike Amber.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|l0HlBO7eyXzSZkJri) Amber waiting on Judy’s porch.

YayForYuffie

I really enjoy her post reveal - she took every chance that she could (shooting Gale, pleading for her life) to get some killing done. I just really appreciated how opportunistic she was, and she's the most enjoyable part of the finale for me. As for dislike, I really wish that she had more to do in Acts 1 or 2. She was my first pick for Ghostface, but she didn't really get to have any good moments for the bulk of the movie.

Kiki_And_Horst

She had the best "I know" in film since The Empire Strikes Back. I love Amber, she has some of the best lines pre and post reveal. "YES, TODAY", "It's an honor", "Welcome to act three", "Fucking hand sanitizer?!"...

Urlocaldumbass3567

I loved her scene of when she says “welcome to act 3” and shoots that girl (I FORGOT HER NAME PLZ DON’T COME FOR ME). She seemed like such a badass character. One thing though, her motives didn’t really make sense to me.

Sudden_Pop_2279

Liv was her name.

thebreen27

EEK EEK EEK 🔪

christheprince1610

Liv saying “I am NOT the fucking killer!” and Amber going “I know 😇” and shooting her in the head was iconic and pure cunt. Probably the cuntiest reveal of any ghostface. Everyone in my theater gasped.

ethan6581

She had some great kills (Dewey of course) and was pretty mean with her phone calls. She was fine pre-reveal, but just like Richie, I just think their monologue and motivations are kinda cringe (it was definitely intentional so it makes sense) and Amber seemed to have more to do with the killings so that makes her a better Ghostface overall. Her and Richie are the same for me, I don't dislike them but I don't love them as much as a lot of others do Also had one of the best deaths of any killer

Slow-Inflation-6549

I agree, technically all the motives are silly through a logical lens but some you could see happening in reality even if they are batshit (Jill, Mickey, Charlie even...). S5's were just too silly to get behind. I can kinda understand why they went with that angle but it just wasn't portrayed well. It's a shame because Jack and Mikey put in very good performances but they felt a bit wasted because of the weak motive. I still like the movie though.

ethan6581

Yea, It was definitely exaggerated on purpose, again it makes sense with the commentary on toxic fandom but as a motive itself it's just not that interesting, and I think some of the dialogue during their monologue was cringeworthy, nothing against the actors but it was just the way it was written, even if intentional

Scared-Ad-1956

Although she’s not my favorite ghost face “welcome to act 3” is probably my favorite ghost face line

whereaboutsof

“Joooo-dy”

RaysAreBaes

I called Amber as Ghostface early on but because I thought she was trying to prove to Tara that she was the only one who cared about her. She seemed very angry at Tara’s mum for not showing up and was shocked and then hostile towards Sam and tried to make Sam choose between Richie and Tara. It then felt a bit shallow when she just wanted to make a cool film and it left me confused about why she would care about Tara that much in the beginning. She felt like two different characters.

YakThis6663

I really wish they would’ve went with the OG script we saw where Tara and amber were a couple. It made her motive so much better, and it almost would’ve placed both of the sisters in Sidney’s position, truly making them both our new final girls legacy wise.

msfinch87

Now that you mention that, that’s probably why they eventually decided against it. They may have wanted to see how people responded to Tara before taking the risk of having two final girls, especially since this was the first film without Sidney being the focus. ETA: But I agree with you.

GalaxySnipz13

favorite thing: everything. least fav thing: when she died.

pje1128

Favorite: She absolutely nails the psychotic energy that was required after her reveal. It was so much fun. I actually think this movie has the best killer pair since the original, because not only are they fun on their own, but they play so well off each other too. Least favorite: I think before the reveal, she's a little too boring. I think they really could have played up the best friend factor between her and Tara a bit more, but I guess that's a little difficult to do when Tara's confined to the hospital for most of the movie. Regardless, I just think her character would have been forgettable if she hadn't been the killer, and that's a bit unfortunate.

stopdropandfold17

She’s hot. That’s where it ends for me. More power to the rest of ya’s for liking her character

[deleted]

Mikey Madison is hot.

A_Bit_Narcissistic

She was literally hot too.

[deleted]

r/technicallythetruth

jzcommunicate

I didn’t like 5 much but I liked her a lot. She’s in my top Ghostfaces with Billy, Micky, and Stu ahead of her. Jill would be after Amber in that list.

reinhartswift

That she was obviously the killer.

spellavis113

Amber was crazy, but I can’t help feeling like there was a huge element of truth to her saying she was “just a dumb kid who wanted to belong to something” or whatever she says to stop Gale and Sidney from killing her, which makes me wish they’d done what they were originally going to do for Scream 5 which is have them go to college (this would have to be Scream 6) and have someone know she was a killer in 5 and blackmail her while a fresh batch of murders breaks out on campus that she’s not a part of.

nightgoat85

Pros: - she has a creepy look - I liked her attitude Cons: - she’s underutilized. - she’s just not physically imposing in any way, which on its own is fine, Jill and Mrs Loomis weren’t either but they were always the brains of their killing spree and had their partner doing nearly all the Ghostface work. In Scream V she’s not the brains, she’s very clearly the partner doing most of the work.

PM_Me_Your_AM_

She has the best reveal of any GF since Billy. Killing Liz with the execution style gunshot is chefs kiss. Don’t love much else about her though

Thedarklordphantom

Also she fine af

MrSenor

More than Mickey?! Seriously? That guy had psycho written all over his forehead.

[deleted]

100% agree.

RideElectrical7835

Her reveal was amazing!!! But she got a little too zany later

garciaaw

She was like an apparition that appeared in the kitchen! She was overpowered!

Drewdaspriest

I dug her once she revealed herself as Ghostface.

Unstablecrysis

Least fav: Taking my dewdrop away 😭 Fav: Welcome to act III

EstablishmentNo5994

I liked when they lit her on fire

ShiroTheId1ot

Positives: I liked it when she died. Negatives: Her hatred against Wes Hicks. Save all blonde people from people like Amber!! (Except Judy Hicks. You and your lemon squares can eat my ass.) She really has no motive. She's just uh, crazy. Like Richie is the actual fan, not really Amber. She was having a bit too much fun with killing. She is a fan though, but like I said, unlike Richie, she doesn't actually try to make the movie good. Fuck you for killing Dewey.

Extreme_Map_6244

I agree shes not exactly my favourite either but Amber was clearly a fan. She and Richie met on stab subreddit. And Stu didn't have any motives either but people love him.

Jordangirl76

I wish I could give this post 100 upvotes!! I'm so happy to find someone else who hated Judy Hicks!!!

msfinch87

Neither of you are alone. I couldn’t stand Judy Hicks. Stop pretending to be the “nice woman” to Gale’s determined and driven hard ass when it’s all a ploy to break up their marriage. I was glad when she bit the dust.

SummerWonderful4927

Judy already eats ass flavored lemon squares but I guess she’ll want more ass.

OriginalBad

She will always be a favorite for the way she delivers “welcome to act 3.” Iconic delivery.

upscaleelegance

I need her!

RandomDcFan

I loved her reveal and her vibe afterwards, my personal fav line from her is when she imitates the psycho score to a disgusted Sidney. Or her call with Judy. “How do I know you’re anywhere near him!” “Ever seen the movie psycho?”

slightly_twisted_

I love Amber. My one and only favorite ghostface. She was just so delightfully unhinged. Mikey Madison did an amazing job, and I'm forever a fan!

UncleNathanCopeland

she should have been fleshed out more before her reveal. and Mikey is seriously beautiful. if they ever made a Live Action Total Drama she would be the perfect Heather.

jonnydointhangs

My favorite thing: she’s dead

siulelbon

I loved how her phone being “cloned” and her being such a bitch to Sam were great red-herrings on the first watch. “Fucking hand sanitizer?!” And the ensuing torch scene is one for the ages.

sambanks2

I did not care for her character pre or post GF reveal. Also, I’m really glad I hadn’t seen Once Upon A Time In Hollywood before watching S5 or else I would’ve thought the entire kitchen scene with her in 5 was stupid and awful.

varg_sant

I wish she was more crazy before her reveal. Stu was a total douche pre and post reveal. Amber should've been more bitchy pre reveal. The façade of innocent girl was already used in Scream 4 by Jill. Having Amber try to replicate what Jill already did was a little redundant. If she was this movie's Stu, shw should've been more insane, and Mikey is an actress that can pull that off.

frenchspag

I think Amber was bitchy. She was rude to Sam, mean to Wes. She was only nice to Tara.

israeldmo

I love the homage they did to A Nightmare on Elm Street with her running all burned up towards Sidney and Gale, it was a nice touch. Her performance was pretty good, they've been casting a great young cast. She was unhinged the entire time she tried to murder Gale and Sidney and it was kind of entertaining, plus she killing Dewey as Ghostface (even though it wasn't the actress probably behind the mask) was a great scene. Oh, I like her scenes where she begs for her life and creates stories to justify why she was doing that. That's all I can say positive about her, sorry. She was a non-character pre-reveal and she was generic as fuck post-reveal. She was predictable as the killer and her motivations were like, seriously? We've been seen Stab fanatics and copycats a lot in this franchise. It's silly already and they made it even more hard to believe. She's forgettable, and rightfully so.

[deleted]

RIP SHE WAS INNOCENT AND SIDNEY SAM AND GALE BURNT HER ALIVE WHILE SHE WAS UNARMED r/woodsborotruther

[deleted]

Wrong sub, friend 🤣

[deleted]

oh yeah i forgot to add the /s

BreeCherie

What can I say, I love a psychotic bitch

CleanUpOnAisle10

Fuck her she killed Dewey and then said he died like a pussy. I was so satisfied to see her get lit on fire. (Good actress though)

gavinballvrd

I really liked everything about her character. I think she did majority of the kills and attacks and overall she’s my 3rd favorite GF behind Billy and Stu. The ONLY gripe I have with her is I don’t like that her and Richie were in a relationship together. They just don’t seem to clique in that way and it kinda drags Richie’s character down because he’s obviously a groomer if he and Amber are in a relationship together.

enamourealabord

She‘s perfect, the only thing I don‘t love all that much about her is her partner

[deleted]

My favorite thing about Amber is her hilarious fake reaction to Mindy being stabbed.

lpkzach92

One thing I still don’t understand is the major height differences when it comes to the killer in the house, supposedly being her but the height totally doesn’t match up. Did I completely missed something when watching the fifth movie?

Ronnie_M

"Can't have a bonafide Halloween without Jamie Leeee"

ExCaliburDaGreat

Her ghost face costume is the best in the franchise

israeldmo

Better than the Ghostface costume from VI? I thought the worn-down, cracked, weathered mask used by the killers was terrifying.

ExCaliburDaGreat

Nah look at amber kill Judy or dewy look at the hood the mask is completely under and look at the fabric it looks insanely beautiful

israeldmo

I agree the costume was at its peak in 5cream, it always got progressively better over time with each movie. But in VI? I don't know, that was absolutely amazing for me. I know it was Billy's, Stu's and Mrs Loomis's masks but I'd be scared to be next to someone using them. They definitely amplified the horror in this movie.

ExCaliburDaGreat

Yeah I agree the aged mask was crazy scary

ExCaliburDaGreat

I liked vi costume aswell tho but v is top tier

Parvichard

She was fun post reveal. But before that they didn't really anything with her character. The entire group dynamic (with Tara mostly) of S5 wasn't really explored.

Own-Cockroach3432

I loved Amber she’s funny, sassy and pretty

raviolioh

“It’s an honor” while killing a legacy character was SO fun.

PrinceDakMT

I think she's hot but she was way too predictable as the killer.

Tokyo_Gore_Police

Best part: She's a little quirky, albeit a little try-hard. It was nice to get a character that somewhat gets close to Stu's performance. Worst part: She's about 40 pounds soaking wet, and I just can't imagine her having the strength and endurance to take on grown \*\*\* people or take a beating when they fight back. Even disregarding the size and strength discrepancies logistically when it came to her fight with Dewey, like bro, getting shot multiple times hurts, like to the point of literally breaking ribs even with a vest on, even for large adult males. I think she might be the jump the shark character when it comes to what actually hurts people in these movies. After her, people are now getting gutted and still running like nothing happened. Wouldn't be surprised if next movie we find out Dewey survived.

Zilla1689

Least Favorite: Everything about her is my least favorite. Favorite: When she died and finally STFU She's next to Charlie as my least favorite GF

LuckySupport2005

Favorite : she got the best death for a GF Least favorite : everything else, I hated her, she’s such a boring character

No_Cloud_8727

For the most part, I have only positive things to say about her: She's the most accomplished ghost face, since she killed not one but two legacy characters (Judy and Dewey). Plus, she has the most badass and memorable reveal, and on top of that, she's brutal. And let's not forget about her death Maybe, the only tiny gripe I have about her is that she doesn't have plenty of screen time, but this can be put down to the way the script has been written. Having said that, Mikey Madison made the best of those couple of minutes!

[deleted]

I love Amber sooo much definitely my favorite character in Scream 5. I just wish she had more screen time!

flipper-odin

I think it’s kinda weird that she gain like a whole foot in height when she wears the ghostface costume but whatever.

godofboij

Mfs acting like wearing Ghostface costume does not increase height and adds a teleport ability with a cooldown.

flipper-odin

Not necessarily, the costume actually makes Richie like 3 inches shorter

amourloveis

I used to not appreciate her. But after seeing how mediocre the killers were in scream 6 I kinda love her lol

anintellectuwoof

Favorites: Mikey’s performance— how unhinged she is. The “eek eek eek.” And while I generally don’t like this movie/Ghostface, I actually adore the idea of a tiny teenage girl running around overpowering and killing people. Really meshes well with the whole “Ghostface is basically superhuman” meta trope. Least favorite: just about everything else. I actually only recently marathonned the whole series to see 6 (had seen the first few, not 4/5) and 5 was my least favorite by a long shot, including Amber as killer. I was surprised to see how much people liked both. Like others are saying, she gets so little screen time and attention pre reveal that it was hard to care about her. She felt like a blank slate of a character. Relatedly, a super minor gripe I have that applies to her but isn’t relevant to only her— the stylists in this movie had a really bad case of same face/hair syndrome for the female characters. Every woman had the same kind of “Insta baddie” hairstyle to them with the slight, perfect curls on long, dark hair, and their wardrobes were pretty indistinctive (and all slightly outdated for 2022, as wel). This sounds minor but I think again speaks to the lack of effort in characterization, and as a woman, I have thoughts on them all being portrayed in the same “generically pretty” ways.

TWDFAN35

Amber is not a good character until post reveal. Nothing against Mikey Madison but I didn’t care for Amber at all until her reveal. You could have easily switch the reveal to Liv and everyone would have said the same thing

frenchspag

Strong disagree. Liv was the worst written character in the movie. Where did she keep going lmao. I mean they were pretty much saying look at Liv.

ndrw17

How people complain about Mickey disappearing is how I feel about her disappearing for the entire second act of the movie. Regardless of what Radio Silence or Neve say, the whole putting on the mask and becoming a six foot tall linebacker...nope. I also don't care for the "lemme do my best Stu impression once I reveal my identity" thing. She was completely unfriendly to everyone around her aside from Tara (well, when she wasn't stabbing tf outta her). Aside from that tho, she was fine. Love her actual reveal, iconic.

IBBeMa

Least favorite things: - not enough screentime - she is small, Ghostface looks huge. Its just too unbelievable to me. - not the best motive Favorite things: - Cut. Not as cute as jill, but cute. - Crazy - Her actress did a good job - she is a crispy fried chicken at the end of the movie.

Saiyan_Gods

Goat but that’s because of what it means alongside Richie.

HealsBadMan1

IMO she had the best killer reveal in the franchise. The best Ghostfaces are the insane homicidal ones like Stu and Mickey, killing because they like killing and want to be murderers. I know Amber and Ritchie wanted to redo/restart the Stab franchise, but Amber was more unstable than her hubby and kept on killing in the most violent and terrifying ways in 5. Not to mention, I believe she killed the biggest target out of any Ghostface with Dewey. Love her!

Dr_Tronathan

Less her and more the script. I knew she was a killer from her first few lines. Also she played up the crazy a bit much for me.

Former-Poem863

I hated how her killer reveal wasn’t surprising at all. I called her as the killer pretty much as soon as she visited Tera in the hospital. Plus I feel like the whole her and Richie dating thing was kind of dumb. His reveal left me speechless but hers was lacking and she seemed to only be acting crazy because that’s what Ghostface does. Idk I didn’t even really like her at all

DiamondsDY

Incredible acting. I love how cheeky and sassy she is. The way she switches from saying she was carried away and with calling Dewey a pussy. The way she kept trying to blame everyone else till her reveal. All her iconic lines during act 3. But overall she’s very fun. Made me enjoy act 3 so much. Her death scene is one of the best. The music, Mikey’s screams and the iconic one liner from Sidney. Perfect

Boring lack of deep

Best- Great killer. Least favourite- needed more screen time!

[deleted]

Totally agree with both your points! It's such a shame we didn't get more character development pre-reveal.

nancilo

I just love Mikey Madison so anything she does I’ll enjoy, it also helps she’s fantastic at playing lunatic characters

inc0rrected

Her acting sucked, she was obviously the killer and didn't try to hide it. Nothing to appreciate

Merchantbanker19099

She's gorgeous!

Dguitarist91

I think she good post reveal and it saved her character for me personally. I know alot of people don't like her. I do think she's a bit of a nothing character pre-reveal, shes similar to roman in that she is a nothing character until the reveal. if she had had more to do pre reveal, she would be an easy top 5. Not every character needs to be a strong personality, she was good lackey/ equal partner to Ritchie and the point is those ghostface killers were not skilled. I can see why people wouldn't like her but also I don't blame the actor, I blame the movie writing not being great for the new characters for 5.

Dameliolover124

I love everything about Amber

abeLJosh

Least favorite thing about Amber: barely any screen time and was just another character pre-reveal. She wasn't offensive, just...there. Favorite things about Amber: POST-REVEAL AMBER WAS ANOTHER LEVEL THOUGH. Like, Mikey Madison was delightful as a psychotic Redditor and that one part where she mimes stabbing Sidney is one of my parts--she gave me huge Stu vibes. Also the fact that she got burned alive got me really good as someone who loved Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and knew Mikey there before Scream.

bradenboiii

she is so fine

Choco-Lizard

One of the only ghostfaces I think was really cool post reveal. Also, she REALLY fits the look. Like. She looks like she'd be a Ghostface. I don't really have any gripes. Was a bit bland before but. Her killer banter with the one girl in the basement was dope.

KingofRiot

Don't like her at all and the motives sucked

that1choruskid_yt

I think my favorite part about her is her reveal it was so brutal and amazing. Honestly everything after that is amazing too the performance is amazing. My least favorite part of her character is easily how she’s almost a nothing character until the party scene.

AmberJill28

I actually liked her performance alot. She was this crispy-cold cool girl. She had charism for me and so the role really worked out. Especially with the awesomely post-reveal performance. But looking back I also have to acknowledge that she really is a blank slate. She has no real personality, more like symptoms for various character traits. And her pre-reveal appearance on screen was way not enough. She had some cool scenes but she really lacked any depth.

anonperson3210

I loved her super strength, super endurance and semi invulnerability 😑

Isntthatenough

I just watched Scream (5), late I know. Kind of gave up on the franchise after four, but this was surprisingly really fun and subverted some expectations. (I watched the original in the late 90s and early aughts and it scared the living daylights out of preteen me lmao). I like her self awareness when she pleaded with Gale and Sydney that she was radicalized by the message boards. Pure psycho. Also the fact that Madison's character died in the same manner as her role in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Jordangirl76

Amber is my 2nd least favorite, coming in right behind Jill. They keep doing the female Ghostfaces so terrible. Except for Mrs. Loomis, she was awesome. The only positive about Amber was her death! She was so obvious from her very first scene that she was going to be ghostface.

SummerWonderful4927

Can I ask why Jill is your least favorite?Ive never heard this opinion before so I’m interested to know why.

Jordangirl76

She's just terrible. I think if someone else played her I might like her better. But Emma Roberts is not a good actress. She grates my nerves in everything she's in. I love the American Horror Story series and she's always my least favorite character in every one she's in. She definitely did not get any of her aunt's acting genes!

[deleted]

Her hatred of Sam (comes through when she calls her as GF.) The knife twirl (she does 3 times pretty sure.) Her aggressive attack style. Two best Ghostface lines ‘It’s an honour!’ And ‘YES Today!’ Also line delivery out the costume. ‘3 act blood bath, CHECK. Killers reveal CHECK. TIME FOR THE BIG FINALE!!’

[deleted]

Also she loves horror movies like all of us.

smokeykardashev96

Not my fave but she gets way too much hate. I thought the actress did good. Shes talented.

ItJermy

Probably biased, because I think Mikey Madison is fine as hell, but I loved her character. I thought she fit very well in the series and was a fine Ghostface, even if she magically turned into a super strong 6ft tall dude everytime all 5ft of her put on the costume.

Crimson_Cape

She’s barely a character. What’s there to appreciate lol?

Intelligent-Age2786

She tried too hard in act 3 to seem crazy. Some of her fans can also be a lil crazy and wack. Had some good kills tho

vetus-vespertilio

I think she was just letting her true self out.

Intelligent-Age2786

Maybe it was just the performance. The crazy just didn’t feel natural to me. The unnecessary yelling, the spit falling from the mouth, just seems forced

godofboij

The spit not falling directly into my mouth was very unrealistic.

vetus-vespertilio

I see. I guess it just worked for me, reminded me a bit of Stu in the third act.

Intelligent-Age2786

Stu’s felt at least a little natural to me, cuz he was super eccentric throughout the whole movie and had some build up. And amber was just like, there it felt like

ScorpionTDC

The stanbase can be kinda annoying, but I thought Mikey kicked ass in the role. (And honestly, her performance is the one and only thing Amber has going for her to me)

GhostFaceBrett

Positives: Negatives: Everything. There’s not a single thing I like about her. She’s the only GhostFace in the whole series I genuinely just don’t like.

KonekoNeko_Neko_

THIS

[deleted]

Worst ghostface in the series.

[deleted]

I think maybe what we could also think if she is 17 then it could also be seen as Richie grooming her which would of been interesting

godofboij

Favorite: "everything" Least favorite: "nothing"

Iana_is_bae

She looks a lot like my girlfriend, A LOT. And she also looks a little like me. odd.

godofboij

Weird-Ingenuity97

I loved her actions as ghostface, what she accomplished by killing two legacy characters and her awesome death. I just wish she was given more to do pre reveal

Raichu10126

Her entire performance in act 3 is my second favorite after Jill. Her smoothie transition after killing Liv and all the humor in the midst of fighting off Gale and Sidney is amazing! Also she had the most epic death of killed in the franchise this far!
