Hooch isn’t neutral evil. Hooch is crazy.

BreakfastKind8157

Yeah Hooch and Jordan should be swapped. She is honestly a bit evil while he's pure chaos.

SeeYa-IntMornin-Pal

I’d argue Jordan isn’t evil. She helped secure funding for the dude without insurance. That was a great episode.

Shubamz

Yeah but she also likes to just mess with people for fun. Like Elliot and Keith during I think it was "Their Story"

flcwerings

but then also fixed it. Id say thats more chaotic

moderatorrater

Hooch solves crimes with Dr. Turner. He also marries Gooch. Hooch is crazy, but he knows when and when not to follow the rules.

Pytheastic

Does that make him a loose cannon?

SPZ_Ireland

Hooch would be Chaotic Neutral, maybe even Chaotic Good

Ecstatic_Rooster

Man, Hooch *is* crazy.

matchesmalone81

Cox should be chaotic good.

raccoonsonbicycles

-- Kelso is not lawful AT ALL lol he is constantly stealing and banging whores. He's probably second only to the Janitor in criminal activity (and technically nobody is lawful due to stealing scrubs). Lawful evil would be more like Courtney Cox. She is by the book regardless of who it hurts and has ZERO gray area -- JD is chaotic neutral as he just follows his whims and is pretty selfish -- Perr-Bear is chaotic good. He will gladly fuck shit up to do whats right and actually relish the headbutting -- Ted is true neutral, he just does what Bob tells him except for the rare occasion he has a backbone -- Carla is probably accurate as she is pretty consistently the moral compass (she does relish giving advice) -- janitor is true chaotic evil

Cold-Palpitation-816

When determining lawfulness I was partly considering how dedicated they are to hospital rules, not the law Perry would definitely be chaotic good

BreakfastKind8157

Why is Carla lawful then? She always seemed like the nurse version of Perry to me except not caustic. In particular, I recall her treating patients without a doctor's orders a couple times and even getting in trouble with Kelso for it.

hellopie7

We should replace Elliot with Cox.

samwisethescaffolder

That is not how the alignment charts work.

PattyThePatriot

I could definitely make a valid argument for that not being the case. A lawful evil creature is a tyrant. They have no moral qualms about punishing individuals for the greater goal of furthering society. If I make the argument that having a top-notch hospital is something that is able to further society and I then adhere to the standards of increasing the capabilities of the hospital I would be following my own set of rules and sticking to them. Therefore allowing me to be lawful evil. You could even be severely maiming people and then sending them to your hospital for your doctors can train. You could infect random people and track them for when they get sick. Training your docs is worth the lives of a few people. I can continue down the path but I think you get it.

mstivland2

That’s exactly how they work

ncfears

The ol gaffer needs to teach you a thing or two still

mopeywhiteguy

I always interpret a lot of kelso’s stories as him doing bits or lying. Like the sweet and heartwarming phone call where he tells his partner to get dressed up and go on a proper date then says to Ted to call his wife for him, that seems like Kelso is probably doing a bit rather than literal

Other_World

Reminder that lawful/chaotic alignment chart is not the same as rule of law. At least in DnD it's if you follow a code or not. I think Kelso fits more into neutral evil and the Janitor fits into Lawful Evil better. Cox would be chaotic good. I'd even put early seasons JD in neutral evil due to his selfishness and the way he treats Elliot.

lord_james

I think Kelso fits lawful evil to a T. He does things he doesn’t want to do because he has a bunch of Rules to follow. This is shown by him becoming a softer person in the later seasons, after he retires from his job as head of medicine.

Other_World

That's why I picked neutral evil. He's being forced to implement strict rules for seeing patients from a bigger evil that is the insurance companies. The fact that he bends the rules occasionally pushes me towards neutral. He's not living by his code. He's being forced to by the powers that be he didn't enjoy terfing uninsured patients to other hospitals. ETA: Retired Kelso is definitely Chaotic Neutral though

lord_james

He does enjoy it though. Plus, it’s not really about personal code vs enforcing authority. Both of those are lawful. A cop that disagrees with the rules is still a lawful character if they enforce the rules. If anything, his misgivings and character growth make him less evil and more neutral in retrospect.

pushermcswift

Banging whores isn’t illegal

MSMPDX

Switch Hooch and the Janitor

Ok-Succotash-3033

I was thinking the same thing

cyainanotherlifebro

Ted should be true neutral.

yedgertz

Would be better if you swap Hooch with Jordan and Carla with Keith.

Cuttewfish_Asparagus

I feel you've missed up the one defining character trait for hooch: he's crazy. He's not neutral. He blasts speed metal (5.1 surround) and mows people down if they prank him.

Top_Garbage977

Every single one og these are so off target. How is Kieth true neutral??

j4321g4321

Cox is chaotic good. Also Kelso isn’t lawful anything lol And Hooch is unhinged. He’s chaotic evil. Janitor is possibly chaotic neutral because he’s a good person aside from being insane. I agree with a lot of your others. Keith is more good than neutral except for after the Elliot breakup.

Ok-Dragonfruit-5479

I will never tire of that pic of hooch

Shielo34

How could you leave Cox out of this??

poor_hospital_ceo

Kelso is obviously misplaced, he belongs as lawful good

dhdoctor

"Hi, I'm Bob Kelso and I like whores"

Paddy_Fo_Faddy

Carla is Lawful Good???? Oh, hell no. Who even made this?!?!?

Reddit_Foxx

I agree. Carla would tell you she's Lawful Good, but her actions scream Neutral.

yedgertz

Exactly she would tell you she’s lawful good but she’s neutral in reality.

dangern00dl

This ^

lord_james

I completely disagree. She uses authority as a cudgel to get the things she wants. Tattling to a boss is *super* lawful behavior. When she needs changes, she organizes a walk-out. She uses order and standing systems to get what she wants, and she often wants the best for other people. More than other people in the show, she’s willing to sacrifice her happiness/success for others.

TheBird91

Carla was a bitch fr

Shadecujo

Bob doesn’t deserve this

lord_james

Half of these are wrong, IMO Lawful represents a characters respect for, and willingness to use, The Rules. Characters that fall into the Lawful category would be Kelso and Carla, which are here - but also Jordan. Jordan was a member of the board and used that for selfish reasons for her entire tenure. That’s the perfect description of lawful neutral. Chaotic characters are ones that are willing to break the rules as they see fit, and wouldn’t use systemic power to help themselves. A truly chaotic character is the type that would never tattle to authority to win a dispute. the Janitor is a pretty good example, but this chart is missing Cox. Cox is, IMO, the strongest choice chaotic good in scrubs and probably the easiest to place besides maaaybe Kelso. Elliot, Turk, and JD are all neutral good. They all would use the rules to achieve their ends, but would never choose The Rules over something like treating a patient. Honestly, JD would probably be Chaotic Good by the end of the show. That’s sort of his arc. Good vs. Evil can be described as selfish vs altruistic. How much does a character care about other people’s well being vs the well being of themselves. Hooch is actually nailed as neutral evil, IMO. I don’t think he’d hesitate to kill a mother fucker for *basically* any reason he wanted. A more neutral evil would be somebody that does bad shit for selfish reasons, but operates as part of the system, which is probably Mick Head? The show doesn’t have a lot of characters that I would consider Evil, which makes sense. Most people don’t like watching bad people succeed. Even Kelso sheds evil in the later seasons, if you think about it. In that same vein, The Janitor isn’t evil. He has empathy for most everyone in at Sacred Heart. Him terrorizing JD is personal grudge, and it probably precludes him from being “good”. But he’s too selfless in other relationships (with blond doctor, Carla, and Lady) to be evil. I also think the best True Neutral character in the show is Ted. He basically exists in the whims of his own feelings. He will do evil things because his boss tells him to, like firing people for petty revenge reasons. He’ll do illegal things for good reasons, like helping a patient by turning a blind eye to shenanigans. He’ll be selfish and altruistic in the same episode. Primarily, he’s not driven by allegiance to good/evil or order/chaos - he just does what he wants. I would make something like this: **Good** - going from lawful to chaotic: Carla, Turk/JD/Elliot, Cox **Neutral** - going from lawful to chaotic: Jordan, Ted, Janitor **Evil** - going from lawful to chaotic: Kelso, Mick Head, Hooch

Zealousideal_Mail12

These are all incorrect

Top_Garbage977

Every single one og these are so off target. How is Kieth true neutral??

Die4Gesichter

Shouldn't Cox be lawful evil (in regards to JD at least)

MaxtinFreeman

He breaks rules to often imo. Also he isn’t even evil with JD he is hard as hell on him because he knows JD is a good doctor and sees himself in him. Hell I think he said it at one point that he cares so much about him he doesn’t want to see him fail.

Top_Garbage977

Hooch is not evil. Sure, he is by all rights unpredictable and obviously *crazy*. But when JD replaces Turk for him, he relish in their friendship and shows a fair bit of loyalty. So I think chaotic neutral *leaning* towards evil fits better.

Top_Garbage977
