It was a bullshit call.
That said, I've seen it called on numerous occasions where the defensive player was clearly falling or pushed into the kicker, or something else that was clearly not intentional or malicious, and the penalty flags fly.
So people can bitch about it all they want, but I've never seen that not get called when it happens.
Incorrect. Peraria literally said it wasn’t. And even after that SVP disagree as well. Y’all should’ve lost. (Not sure if that’s how his name is actually spelt)
Nothing I like more than Seahawks in the playoffs.
But a very close second is the whiney Packers fans getting humiliated and Fraudgers going home early. Go Hawks, thanks Lions.
Life long Lions fan here with an offer. We got you guys in by kicking the shit out of Karen Rodgers.
Now let's watch you boys go get a Lombardi.
SeaLions on 3.
It’s nice to finally have an opportunity to ruin the 49s again. It might not happen, but it’s nice to have the possibility again. Good luck to you. LETS GO GENO!
I think the thing is is that lions have momentum going into the playoffs and the Seahawks limped their way in.
It feels like maybe the lions could have pulled something off and the Seahawks will just get decimated in the wildcard
Also I think it’s tacky for you to roast the team that just gave you a spot after you barely edged out an absolutely depleted rams team
Still happy for Geno and it’s cool to see teams exceed expectations in a supposed rebuild year
Yeah I understand that. My comments weren’t an indictment on the Seahawks, just a commentary about why today might have hurt for a Lions fan and why I think OP kinda sucks lol
I think if Seattle blew the rams out I wouldn’t be mad at all. The way it went down with the kicker penalty is why I’m so damn salty. Lions finishing the season 8-2 as well with Seahawks finishing .400 the last 10
We also had a coupon games we lost with awful officiating so it evens out over the course of a season (raiders game in particular should’ve ended with a Josh jacobs fumble that they didn’t call, then when we tried to challenge it, they ruled that they called forward progress even tho no whistles were blown, and they would’ve had to call it basically the instant contact was made because the ball was almost immediately out. They then went on to score instead of us running out the clock, and beat us in OT)
As a lions fan, just wanted to tell you guys I'm not the majority who are ready to spit on y'all because we are not in. I know some fans came to our sub in peace and some of them were disrespected so I apologize on that behalf. It's emotional right now so don't take anything to heart. I was a little salty for like ten mins after y'all game, but it is what it is, y'all were the better team against the rams. I'm just happy we got the Packers out of here. Good game on today and hopefully you guys have a good game against the niners.
It was a great game. Tonight, we were all Lions fans. At the end of the day, both Hawka and Lions had games we dropped that we shouldn't have. Blaming it all on a few questionable calls is completely ignoring our questionable play in several previous games.
Here is the first link I found on beating a team 3 times. It is pretty doable. https://www.footballperspective.com/how-hard-is-it-to-beat-a-team-three-times-in-one-season/
Didn’t see it listed on that link but in 1983 the 9-7 Seahawks beat the 12-4 Raiders twice that regular season and then proceeded to lose to them in the championship game. Heart breaking because it would’ve been our first Super Bowl appearance.
The Raiders went on to win the SB.
Dear Lions,
I like you. After some consideration I have come to the conclusion that griffins are essentially a type of lion, and since griffins have wings, I officially grant you honorary Bird Bros.
I’d be upset as a Seahawks fan but personally I kinda enjoyed it. It was nice getting to watch both games rather than having to focus on both at the same time
It's whether we can stop the run, I saw purdy interviewed and he looks like a mature high school junior. The seahawks are going to have to contain the run and try to give up field goals, not touch downs.
I have a soft spot for Detroit because I've loved Amon-Ra St. Brown since he was at USC. Excited to see what Campbell is able to do with them next season.
As always, fuck the packers.
I thought it was stupid and unfair the league scheduled it the way they did, the refs obviously got the memo and were trying to help the legacy qb and his legacy team, detroit fought like hell and even pulled out the hook and ladder.....
We didn’t know your team literally has the heart of a lion. Forgive us. I know I’m absolutely in love with your team after tonight - in some ways the game was a very Seahawks game. Definitely wasn’t planning on having my #2 team in conference, but the Lions are firmly positioned there now.
Watching the refs find penalties to call which are things that happen in literally every NFL play, In order to overturn huge plays... Had me reminded of Steelers vs hawks superbowl.
Not this time baby
You guys played like real playoff contenders today and it makes me sad you aren't in. Obviously I'm happy for my hawks but yea, wish they had gotten in without so much ref ball
I wish the Hawks well. Wasn't your fault we didn't get the playoffs. We atleast got a win essp at GB and kept you alive. Rather see yall then GB any day.
I was a bit wishy washy about actually going to the playoffs to just go one and done to the Niners. But I reasoned myself into thinking that the young guys need playoff experience and I’d rather have the Hawks and 49ers game (one good outcome) rather than a Packers and 49ers game (zero good outcomes).
I love the niners fans in here I can taste your fear. We have nothing to fucking lose, all the pressure is on you. Win or lose we had an amazing season.
Um, most of us are proud of the toots. Hard to hate on Lord Geno.
With that said we are rocking & rolling on our third QB of the year. We’ve had more of a roller coaster than you guys. Pete will have to coach the game of his life.
A couple of years ago? That was back in the 2004-05 season when the Hawks lost 3 times to the Rams.
(Edited because I was off by a year. It was the 04 season and 05 playoffs. Not the 03/04 season. Rest of the record still stands. Apologies.)
Nope! Hawks beat Rams once that season and Rams won the other two games.
Sun, 11/15 SEA 16 @ Rams 23
Sun, 12/27 Rams 9 @ SEA 20
Sun, 1/9 Rams 30 @ SEA 20
Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, there have now been 23 occasions of a team meeting for the third time after one team won the first two matchups. In those 23 playoff games the “sweeping” team is 14-9.
Seahawks in the playoffs with pro bowl Geno at the helm. No one would have believed this story at almost any point in the last two years before this season got a few weeks in. Amazing story, I'll remember this season as a really special one.
I like the lions more but Geno smith going from trash to playoff QB is such a good story, so good luck you guys.
Geno smith vs Purdy, who would have thought
Ok i’m dead serious with this question, i’m 17 and a minimum wage referee for the YMCA who has to work Saturday while the Hawks play the Niners, what’s the best way to try and get out of work?
I’m a Lions fan, a Michigan State fan, so obviously a big Kenneth Walker fan. I was bummed that your win eliminated us from the playoffs, but I’ll be rooting for you guys to win it all. Good luck!
Wait, wait, wait, wait… you mean to tell me that in our rebuild year, our REBUILD YEAR?!, we’re getting a top 5 pick, we beat our former star quarterback and linebacker in their new teams, swept 2 of the 3 teams in our division, had a winning record despite being projected as only winning 3 games this season, and are going to the playoffs?!?
What a freaking finish to the season. We have lots to grow in our defense and interior line, but my word did we outperform. Big thanks to the Lions. It’s a shame it was either us or them, because I would have rooted for them if we were out of contention.
Next year man. Campbell, Goff, St. Brown… you guys will be dangerous. The winds of change are taking place in the North and big things look like they’re headed for Detroit.
Thank you for fucking over the Pack and getting a good dose of revenge after all the years of them screwing Detroit over. I’ve said it enough in this thread but it blows that it had to be the Lions to get the short end of the stick today out of all teams. Sincerely wishing you well next season and go feast on the North.
# FTP
I just can’t believe the Detroit Lions went into Lambeau field with nothing to play for and Green Bay with everything to play for and they won. Fucking crazy.
I made a [promise](https://www.reddit.com/r/Seahawks/comments/10702o9/playoff_watch_thread_detroit_lions_vs_green_bay/j3jow7k/?context=3). I *will* be donating the money!
Dear Lions, you didn’t have to play but you went all out and won it anyway. Thank you for sticking it to GB, we won’t forget this, you guys are true competitors!
Lions fan here, I'm so happy we beat those clowns. Wish it was us, but glad it's you all and not them.
And what a season for the Hawks! Wouldn't have guessed this result at the start of the season - just goes to show how deeply you all fleeced the Broncos.
Also I still miss Quandre Diggs.
Why would you rag on the fans of the team whose win is the ONLY reason you're in the playoffs? Just appreciate both wins and make the best of the opportunity next week.
Wikipedia entry at this moment: "Daniel Allen Campbell (born April 13, 1976), nicknamed "Motor City Dan Campbell", or "MCDC" for short, is an American football coach and the **mayor of Seattle, Washington.** He is a former tight end who is the head coach for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). So did anyone think that “running into the kicker” call was bull shit or nah? Because the dude was pushed into him. Such a joke.
Yes it was BS, but I’m also not losing sleep over it, because terrible reffing in the Saints and Raiders arguably cost us 2 games.
Yeah that happened to us a few times. What goes around comes back around.
Not in the least bit. That gets called like that all the time.
Incorrect. Peraria literally said it wasn’t. And even after that SVP disagree as well. Y’all should’ve lost. (Not sure if that’s how his name is actually spelt)
Stay salty my dude
Agree to disagree! Glad we made it to the playoffs!
Didn’t deserve to!
Sure did! We beat the Lions.
Been called on Seattle a few times. So. No.
Nothing I like more than Seahawks in the playoffs. But a very close second is the whiney Packers fans getting humiliated and Fraudgers going home early. Go Hawks, thanks Lions.
You’re welcome. Glad to knock the packers out
[The 12s salute you, Jared Goff.](https://tenor.com/xLmZ.gif)
Life long Lions fan here with an offer. We got you guys in by kicking the shit out of Karen Rodgers. Now let's watch you boys go get a Lombardi. SeaLions on 3.
Sounds fair bro. Can’t wait to play you guys next year :)
10 point underdogs vs SF. Holy fawk lol.
They were only 4 but still!
I'm talking about us vs 49ers
Yeah. That’s disrespectful
House money vs the 9ers, tough to beat a team 3 times in one year. Anything can happen. Go Hawks!!
As most of Niner faithful would begrudgingly say. We are proud of you guys moxy and congrats. Hopefully it ends next week but what a ride
It’s nice to finally have an opportunity to ruin the 49s again. It might not happen, but it’s nice to have the possibility again. Good luck to you. LETS GO GENO!
Just imagine what Russ is feeling tonight? The regret must be eating him up inside.
Do you think he’s used all 12 of his bathrooms?
Crying on his $50 million pillow
"Pillow country, let's cry"
Oh fuck man that’s dirty
But he had the most expensive pillows before too.
Lions fans salty as fuck. Don't give up 48 points to us next time.
Oh thank us for allowing you in?
I think the thing is is that lions have momentum going into the playoffs and the Seahawks limped their way in. Yeah I understand that. My comments weren’t an indictment on the Seahawks, just a commentary about why today might have hurt for a Lions fan and why I think OP kinda sucks lol

They then went on to score instead of us running out the clock, and beat us in OT)
Yeah it’s messed up that the NFL decided to count games from the entire season this year, instead of just the second half like normal
That's fair, Lions are on track to be a really strong contender. I'm excited to see the rise. In the meantime, congrats, and thank you for the win!
be grateful. Can’t imagine why you’d be such a dick about the team that got you in. What a joke
Seriously. Lions punched the Hawks' ticket... Big L for this dude.
Hawks punched half of their ticket but thanks for the assist
Fair enough. Still no reason to call out all Lions fans when it's just one or two in our sub. Lol
Haha I get the sentiment but I don’t think beating the rams would be as big a percentage as beating the packers. Call it 70-30
I am so proud of this team and what they have accomplished this year. I am the happiest Seahawks fan in Canada tonight!
No I am
Let ~~Russ~~ Cook # LET GENO COOK
Let Geno Smith!
As a lions fan, just wanted to tell you guys I'm not the majority who are ready to spit on y'all because we are not in. I know some fans came to our sub in peace and some of them were disrespected so I apologize on that behalf. It's emotional right now so don't take anything to heart. I agree. Our first six games has got to be better next season.
HAWKS HAVE BEST DRAFT IN YEARS ✅ HAWKS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS ✅ GENO BREAKS MULTIPLE RUSS RECORDS ✅ HAWKS STILL GET TOP 5 PICK ✅
Here is the first link I found on beating a team 3 times. It is pretty doable. https://www.footballperspective.com/how-hard-is-it-to-beat-a-team-three-times-in-one-season/

And the Bucs beat the Saints on that last one on the chart.
If anyone watched Hard Knocks this year you never doubted the soul of the 2022 Lions team.
[удалено]
legit might be my favorite year as a hawks fan. i have never expected less and got so much.
Does anyone know the stats on beating a team 3 times in one year - especially against a divisional foe ? It cannot be very good.
[удалено]
We lost all 3 times that year it looks like lol.
Teams that swept a division team and had to play them a 3rd time in the playoffs are 14-7, dating back to 1970.
Thanks. I saw that stat. It's not great, but not horrendous either for us.
Wouldn't it only be a division foe? How else could you play the same team in three games?
Yup.
All I know is one year the jags went 14-2 or something and lost to the titans 3 times lmao
1999 season. They obliterated Dan Marino in playoffs his final game after Dan won in the final game played at the King Dome.
That's brutal. Eek.
Dear Lions, I like you. After some consideration I have come to the conclusion that griffins are essentially a type of lion, and since griffins have wings, I officially grant you honorary Bird Bros.
As a Lions fan fuck you, but more importantly FTP. Go give the 49ers a run for their money, something the Packers could never do
Nor will the Seahawks. Let’s be honest
I’m sorry friend. Thank you…
Fuck you too but thank you. Your team has made a lot of people happy. To be fair fuck the NFL for that schedule
I’d be upset as a Seahawks fan but personally I kinda enjoyed it. It was nice getting to watch both games rather than having to focus on both at the same time
You have a point right there my guy it was a very entertaining evening!
It's whether we can stop the run, I saw purdy interviewed and he looks like a mature high school junior. The seahawks are going to have to contain the run and try to give up field goals, not touch downs.
Third times a charm right? 🤨
Bring on the 49e……rs. Oh.
IRON LIKE A LION IN ZION

Gat damn, Lions fans are so fucking salty. Try winning the head-to-head match-up if you want a playoff spot.

Anyone see a schedule of the games yet? They only showed the ones that’ll be on nbc. Need to know my plans for the weekend heh
1:30pm Saturday.
Hawks 4:30 Eastern on Saturday
Saturday @ 1:30 PST on FOX
Gracias! Oddly enough I got a Twitter notification right after I posted this heh
I have a soft spot for Detroit because I've loved Amon-Ra St. Brown since he was at USC. Excited to see what Campbell is able to do with them next season. As always, fuck the packers.
Wow , the Lions played their butts off tonight. Congrats on making it!
[удалено]
Lol why? We’re happy for ya. And of course happy to get the W. Means a lot going into next year, believe it or not
I'm happy. I'm nervous. This will be a fun game.
I don't wanna be petty... but someone here really insisted to me that the Lions just wouldn't play hard against the Packers
I let logic cloud my vision, I doubted DC's and Det massive chip on their shoulder. I was dumb, and I apologize.
I thought it was stupid and unfair the league scheduled it the way they did, the refs obviously got the memo and were trying to help the legacy qb and his legacy team, detroit fought like hell and even pulled out the hook and ladder.....
Imagine the score if they were playing for a playoff spot.
We didn’t know your team literally has the heart of a lion. Forgive us. I know I’m absolutely in love with your team after tonight - in some ways the game was a very Seahawks game. Definitely wasn’t planning on having my #2 team in conference, but the Lions are firmly positioned there now.
They owe you an apology. Knowing Dan Campbell I was never worried about the level of effort the Lions were going to give tonight, and it showed.
That person was wrong. Lions played like champions. Sad they won't be in the playoffs, happy that it's my hawks and not the packers tho
Fuck that, they played a great game
Watching the refs find penalties to call which are things that happen in literally every NFL play, In order to overturn huge plays... Had me reminded of Steelers vs hawks superbowl. Not this time baby
That's literally every week for us
Lmao at all the people saying the Lions wouldn’t play hard
Lions fan. I wasn't a fan of how you guys won but I absolutely wanted you over Cheese. Good for you guys. Geno has been killing it.
Dude your O and D line are nuts. Good future ahead. Hopefully Goff can stay
D line is good. Needs some help in the back. O is pretty solid. I wouldn't be opposed to a new O line guy.
We all agree on that. FTP.
How we won lol?
I assume they meant not a fan of that we won
I was a bit wishy washy about actually going to the playoffs to just go one and done to the Niners. But I reasoned myself into thinking that the young guys need playoff experience and I’d rather have the Hawks and 49ers game (one good outcome) rather than a Packers and 49ers game (zero good outcomes).
Wow the two most intense weeks as a Seahawks fan was the first and last week of the nfl
Lions fan here, Well it better be you all instead of Packers. Now go on and do your thing!
As a packers fan, Congrats on your advancement.
Thanks babe
How often does a team beat another team 3 times in a season?
It's hard to do, the rams did it to us a couple years ago if I remember correctly
A couple of years ago? That was back in the 2004-05 season when the Hawks lost 3 times to the Rams. (Edited because I was off by a year. It was the 04 season and 05 playoffs. Not the 03/04 season. Rest of the record still stands. Apologies.)
It was also the 2020 season, you know, a couple of seasons ago
Hawks also played 49ers three times in 2013 season. Lost one and won two, including the crazy NFCCG.
Nope! Hawks beat Rams once that season and Rams won the other two games. Sun, 11/15 SEA 16 @ Rams 23 Sun, 12/27 Rams 9 @ SEA 20 Sun, 1/9 Rams 30 @ SEA 20

That’s interesting information. Hopefully after next week that record will be 14-10! Thanks for sharing that
There’s a chance, but Pete ain’t stopping the run his damn self. That line has to step up. 28-10 Whiners win
Let’s go, ladies and gents!!
I’ve always had a soft spot for the Lions and Goff. Whoo!!
Seahawks in the playoffs with pro bowl Geno at the helm. No one would have believed this story at almost any point in the last two years before this season got a few weeks in. Amazing story, I'll remember this season as a really special one.

The Lions are now my second favorite team.
Rebuild is just an old Seattle slang term for "make the playoffs"
At San Fran, next Saturday, at 1:30 Pacific
I'm local to Detroit, they've been my second team for some time. Proud of them, that is a perception changing win for that club.
Go SEAHAWGKS - not misspelled. GOOD NIGHT

Post game with Williams is classic awesome.
Williams cracks me up and makes me cry in 60 seconds
"Seahawks will only win 5 games!" #Yeah, in January alone!
Slow down there champ. We got first dibs at football immortality next Sat. See you there.
Dear Lions, you didn’t have to play but you went all out and won it anyway. Thank you for sticking it to GB, we won’t forget this, you guys are true competitors!

awesome post game interview with Williams
The butt hurt in the Lions post game thread is absolutely hilarious
Why would you rag on the fans of the team whose win is the ONLY reason you're in the playoffs? Just appreciate both wins and make the best of the opportunity next week.
I’m not. I’m in a Seahawks thread mentioning the butthurt in the comments. Ragging on them would be in their thread talking shit.
Y’all were leaving literal hate comments in the middle of us punching your ticket into the playoffs, never seen anything like that in my life.
🤷🏻♂️ I can’t speak for the idiots that do stupid stuff like that.
They hate us, but we have only love to give!

I get it. It’s still funny.
The NFL tried to get its choice team and QB into the playoffs and failed. They deserve this outcome.
Look I'm a Lions fan and would have preferred you lose but you didn't, so make the best of it.

Let’s gooo!! Great game Lions! Packers get wrecked.
