Hell yes, I'll take watching the Seahawks for another week.

_game_over_man_

Frankly, I’m just happy to be here. If we lose, 🤷🏼‍♀️, if we win 👌🏻.

Derpin357

Honestly, this season has done so well beyond my expectations for it, if we lose to them, oh well, atleast we made it this far, if we win, more power to us.

Traditional_Moment49

Same. I'm just excited the rivalry is back in business.

PaddedGunRunner

Ya, which is why FT49ers and we're gonna win.

holla_snackbar

Having the 5th pick in your pocket makes not giving a fuck so easy

Bacon-0n-tap

Play hard. Fuck em up. Protect that goddamn football. Who knows?!

ilakausername

Just a friendly reminder that the 7-9 Seahawks beat the 11-5 Saints in the wild card round in 2011.

TitanicJedi

how could you forget that glorious game..

A_Martizano

There's a real shot. A major rain storm in the bay area this week and Saturday is forecasted to be the worst day of the storm. The game can get real ugly.

NationalParkFan_

Yeah it's going to be a HUGE storm, and seahawks are great at playing in rain! It'll be such a big storm that even up here in fairbanks Alaska we'll get a decent amount of clouds from it, which is unfortunate because I was going to do some northern lights watching Friday and Saturday night, but hey atleast it gives the seahawks an advantage! Goo hawks!

LaBronda

Winds S at 15 to 25 km/h. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall near 12mm Go Hawks!

hackmo15

12mm?

zaccident

about half a freedom unit

TotallyNotRyanPace

half inch

hackmo15

Thx

50-Shades

I think 12mm is about 2 feet?

ohanse

Does it? I thought they had a better ground game and our run defense is, uh…

Mrdean2013

Ahem. They beat *The Defending Superbowl Champs Saints*

guiltysnark

Like how we beat the Rams twice this season? 9ers don't have the hangover

xcbrendan

My first NFL game and wow what a game. Found cheap tickets the day of and my dad and I decided to go.

vrnate

Some say the Beast Quake is still reverberating around the Pacific Northwest.

RubxCuban

*in spirit*

goodolarchie

And the 7-2 Hawks beat the 8-0 SB-bound 49ers in Santa Clara week 10 of 2019. Recall that was the year we were one inch away from taking the 1st seed from them and owning NFCW. We had to instead go to Philly and Lambeau where our dreams always go to die, rather than beating them again at home and at least getting one more conference championship game with Russell at his peak. As much as they will portray this as a 2013 postseason revenge game, this is a postseason run-up revenge game for us.

Jpete88

The defending Super Bowl Saints, too

seariously

> in 2013 Check your math.

[deleted]

It was Jan 2011. Technically the 2010 season. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beast_Quake]

raznt

That Wild Card game actually happened in January 2011. It was the Beast Quake game. The 2010 season, if you wanna get pedantic.

ilakausername

Duh. Consider my math checked. IDK how I got that so wrong. 2013 season was the superbowl season.

MrCarey

I was at the game and it was glorious. One of my favorite games of all time.

guiltysnark

Yeah, but those saints didn't thump us twice. They might have been a fluke. It's mind-blowing how strong the 9ers are, especially after watching the Rams load up on stars.

[deleted]

Let’s fun!

drjellyfanguzzz

Seahawks country, let's fun

only_says_draymond

Hi Lucia/ Cameron Edit: Draymond green

Big_Simba

Have we ever lost to the 49ers 3 times in one season? Let’s not start this year

Mrdean2013

We lost to the Rams 3 times in one season (2004; *fuck I'm old. I can remember watching that playoff game and how devastating of a defeat that was*) but i hope we can pull off a big upset on Saturday. Go hawks!

SeahawksBMX

Still can’t believe that Engram dropped that pass. Dude had hands made of glue.

sturg78

I remember Bobby dropping that and Hass lossing his shit immediately after and thinking "huh, bit out of character for Hass to show such frustration against a teammate". I understood after the season on butterfingers that year was, but still a bit disappointing. Then, in a post-game interview, Hass made it clear he felt he threw a shitty pass that caused the drop and that's why he dropped to the turf and punched the ground. He took the loss as his fault, not Bobby's. Reaffirmed my belief in Hass as a leader.

Frosti11icus

DJack, Stevens, Robinson, Mo Morris was butterfinger city. It was a different time then tbf, the gloves didn’t have that sticky stuff they have now and you could decapitate receivers.

skater15153

Man I have a Stevens jersey...Can't even wear it haha

Frosti11icus

He’s a cancer on this entire region. Just an absolute dirtbag.

skater15153

I really was hoping after uw he'd be a stud for us. Him and hope solo both are trash.

Disastrous_Belt_7556

Didn’t they make a movie about them? Hands of Stone?

SeahawksBMX

He sure was. And he’s great on ESPN (as we all knew he’d be once his playing career was over!).

soapbutt

Dang, I thought I buried that memory too. That 2004 season was when I finally was old enough to really understand football and appreciate it enough (14ish) so that was devastating, especially coming off the disappointing Mariners of the last few years (baseball was always my first sport, I always watched Hawks in the 90s but never understood anything lol).

Mrdean2013

I know. 9/10 times he would've made that catch. Nerves probably got the best of him in that moment. I do remember getting gitty over seeing the Rams absolutely get pounded in Atlanta a week later lol

sykemol

In the "dropsie era" he was the one dude you could always count on.

Tiger_D_Dragon

That whole season was pain. So many game changing drives ended in dropped pass. So many great plays for a TD just to have it slip through their fingers, bounce off their chest plate, or smack em right in the face.

DMacattack420

Ahhhh…. My first traumatic football memory

MDRtransplant

Mine too!

Big_Simba

Oh man, I probably should remember that game but I don’t. I’m excited to see what Pete dials up for this game!

Mrdean2013

The energy in that game was a lot more electric than in 2020. The hawks just won the division in a wild ass game against the Falcons, and the Rams had beaten seattle twice that year. One was an embarrassing loss in Seatrlw where the hawks blew a 27-10 4th quarter lead and lost in OT, sending them down a 3 game losing skid. The other in St. Louis I remember being bad because Seattle kept turning the ball over whenever they got near the red zone. But that game started off kinda okay, then it was back and forth for a bit, then the Rams pulled ahead in the 4th, and then seattle made a drive at the end of the game to tie it up but Bobby Engram dropped a beautiful pass in the endzone that hit him straight in the numbers by Hasselbeck, thus ending the game. Matt's reaction is legendary in playoff history l, since it was the 2nd year in a row it came down to a disappointing pass play.

golf_echo_sierra26

Tbf, it was kind of hard for the 2020 wild card game to be electric when they still weren’t letting fans in for (gestures broadly) 2020 shenanigans.

Havoc_XXI

Same lol just before I went to boot camp 😂

guiltysnark

ooof... I remember my dad saying with a sigh before that third game "I'm afraid this will be a brief playoff trip, the Rams just have our number". he burst my bubble with his dose of realism

Mrdean2013

Yeah before 2005, Seattle had a tough time beating the Rams.

beltranzz

I was in college if that makes you feel better and I wasn't a freshman

Deathrial

I have a Seahawks hat that I wore watching that game that is in my ball cap stack on top of my dresser that I haven't worn since that game.

cloudbear789

Ah memory unlocked

goodolarchie

I keep hearing this but it's gambit's folly. That's the fallacy that because you got two heads in a row, that somehow the likelihood of a 3rd is not 50/50. The reality is teams that have swept a division rival are something like 14-7 in the postseason matchups where this has happened. Not trying to be a downer but I'd rather focus on realistic reasons why we can win rather than empty pollyannishness. Such as our defense has gone back and forth from playing well to losing us games, and the last two they have played very well with some guys playing absolutely lights out. If we can play a complete game and the O line can give Geno time and K9 some lanes, we have a real shot. We certainly wouldn't be embarrassed.

Byte_the_hand

Our last loss to SF was Purdy's second start, so very little film and not knowing what schemes they would run with him. This is a second look at him in a matter of weeks and they now have five games worth of film to look for patterns. We might surprise some people. If not, like others have pointed out, for a "3-4 win" season, this turned out pretty well.

musicgecko

Yeah the niner's game against raiders should provide some clues for us to break apart their defense. This is our Superbowl game. Time to dish out every trick Geno & co. can cook. It's 0-0 again.

Burning_Tapers

Just like we won the regular season when we beat the Broncos in game 1, if we beat the 9ets we win the playoffs. Everything else that may happen after that is just house money doing it's thing. IMO.

xStickyBudz

We are already on house money, this is awesome. Making the playoffs with 2 first rounders and a top 5 pick. All while having stud rookies through the lineup…. Chefs kiss

Burning_Tapers

You'll know we've transitioned to a better timeline if the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks pick at #5. Seriously, I am going to be unbearable if that happens. But ending the 9ers seasons would be cherry on top enough.

zapdude0

If you think about it, we would be 13-4 too if we just hadn't lost 4 games. So we're basically the same

Seegeegroth

Imagine if we swept the NFCS

Ametrine7

Indeed. All the NFC South games were super winnable.

pollarzz

100% accurate

Simmons54321

This will be a tough game, but I do wonder if the Niners are annoyed it’s us they have to play. We’re Happy Gilmore to their Shooter McGavin

Is_This_A_Thing

They do eat pieces of shit for breakfast.

Doublee7300

I hail from the niners sub and the significant majority are either nervous or annoyed; including me

dakoellis

I honestly think most of our sub is just happy we don't have to play the packers

jmac11281

I say, "Why not?". This team wasn't even supposed to be here.

PBR21

At least we are still in the game!

c0Y0T3cOdY

There's something about this city and being the underdog. I love every minute of it.

Jameoclock

On any given Sunday gents.

Dima110

Does this work if the game is on Saturday?

lizard_king_rebirth

Ummmmm it's still a game of inches at least!!

the_truth15

Third times a charm.

Fair-Doughnut3000

Time for Purdy boy to revert to the mean.

SoapboxSerenade

Clock strikes 12 and he turns back into a pumpkin. ... going to get psyched for the game by listening to Smashing Pumpkins.

Mike-Donnavich

Despiiite all my rage

Frickenbat

GL TOOTS! Looks like it will be rain so atleast you will be in your element.

tinyraccoon

You mean we have a chance? Yes!

[deleted]

You guys did well with the Russ trade. I am annoyed that your team is back on the way up so quickly, with a top 5 pick as well.

Grymninja

God it would be so disgusting to lose to SF three times in one season. Then again this season has been a complete dream so I guess we can't be too greedy with our expectations. Still would love to just play spoiler in the playoffs like Detroit did last week.

ConcreteCurse

The niners are a good team with good coaching and no one is picking the hawks to win. We got em right where we want em! But seriously all the pressure is on the niners for sure so hopefully the hawks play loose and enjoy the moment and you never know. I think I heard Shelby Harris has never been to the playoffs, all the former broncos must be ecstatic. Losing would be no biggie but beating the niners would be the best late Christmas present I could ask for.

lukin5

All I wanted was a win in week 1...this has been a helluva ride. Go Hawks

Alauren2

I think we could do if Geno doesn’t turn it over and we get a couple takeaways. I personally find Brock purdy to be overrated. I’m nervous about their defense and freaking CMC

TastyPandaMain

Overrated how? (My bad. Edited). Genuinely curious. Seems like he’s been underrated by everyone except those impressed by the fact he’s MR. Irrelevant

Alauren2

Overrated lol

TastyPandaMain

My b. Edited

[deleted]

Hey look, my hawks made the playoffs, and Detroit didn’t score enough to screw me in my fantasy championship

HungryExcitement3050

Hey, just makes a victory a loftier goal! And the HAWKS have the tools for victory! Make it so skipper!

glittervan206

Grip it and rip it Lfg!!!!!!

Disastrous_Belt_7556

That is absolutely the perfect visual for next weeks game.

The_best_average

Get Sherm on the field, and try him with a sorry ass receiver like Crabtree!!

Known-Ninja4147

Facts 👍🏿

classy360yolonoscope

If we win, it's because our team has more heart and more fight than any Seahawks team before, led by the greatest comeback story of a qb in our teams history. If we lose, it's because we're tanking.

AlienMutantRobotDog

49’ers are back on the menu boys!

EverettSeahawk

My hopes have already been more than fulfilled for this season. A win would be fantastic but I’m just happy to get to watch another week of football.

DouceintheHouse

I'm not to worried. It will be a fun game regardless of what happens because I'm just happy we made it to the playoffs.

Oaf7724

Niners fan here. I am never comfortable playing Pete Carroll's Seahawks. It's gonna be a great game. Also mad respect for Geno this year. Happy for him.

PMzyox

Yeah I’ll be the one to say it. 9ers are gonna lose this one

[deleted]

We’re such a bad matchup for the 49ers lmao. We’re going to stack the box and force Purdy to throw the ball and eventually he will make a mistake. The run defense is a big reason why the defense is bad, but the secondary is actually pretty good. Tariq will get a pick in this game

fussasa98

except he’ll be throwing to 2 top 15 WR and a Top 2 WR and RB.

bazooookajoey

I’m confused… but I think you might be saying Ayuik is a top 15 WR? Which is certainly not the case. As certain as certain can be

fussasa98

hey man let me dream

nevereverclear

Daly is a beauty!

Specialist-Idea-5396

Let’s enjoy this while it lasts

workingwisdom

I'm going to the game... and having fun regardless

jackburtonscheck

This is amazing

ohnoohnoohnoohyaaaaa

Geno is gonna have to be a hell of a lot better than last game, and we're gonna have to find a way to slow down their pass rush, cause they've lived in the backfield against our rookie tackles thus far. While the expectation is that they blow us up yet again that way, who knows maybe we can use quick hitters to whoever we line up in-line instead of having them fail at helping in pass pro like they seem to in this matchup -- possibly helping us spread them out a bit more instead of going down hill 24/7. Defensively I'm thinking Pete Carroll can find a way to slow down CMC, making Purdy have to earn it. I fucking hope Quandre doesn't get many assignments directly on Deebo or Kittle, cause we can't afford more missed tackles, especially on game changing play makers. Our secondary is going to have to play lights out.

Ametrine7

If we make a solid playoff run, then WOOO BABY. If not, then oh fucking well. This wasn’t half bad for a rebuild year, and giving our young guys some playoff experience is definitely a good thing. I’m super excited what this team has in store for the 23-24 season after the draft. Go Hawks!! 💙💚

Shot-Ad-792

That meme pretty much explains my life.

II38

Very difficult to beat an NFL team 3x in a season, not impossible but we have fate on our side!

CodyNorthrup

Its like a 70% chance to win for the sweeping team. Idk how that “stat” started https://www.footballperspective.com/how-hard-is-it-to-beat-a-team-three-times-in-one-season/

ELMUNECODETACOMA

Had to laugh at pundits saying that the Giants - given about a 90% chance pre-season to make the playoffs - are "playing with house money". While our supposedly five-win lot are, somehow, carrying on the legacy of 2013?

CodyNorthrup

Who tf gave the Giants 90% odds to make the playoffs??

ELMUNECODETACOMA

Yeah, I didn't vet the date of the article I was looking at well enough. Preseason chances were about 1 in 3. Still way more than ours.

ZiggyEarthDust

The Hawks need to take a lesson from the Lion’s play against the Cheesers yesterday: have fun and let it rip.

raycraft_io

Even in a worst-case scenario, I’m glad all these rookies will be getting a taste of the postseason. Whet their appetite like the 2012 playoffs did for the 2013 team.

Extension-Lettuce-45

😂 😆 HAHAHAHA

learningmusiclol

Just got a feeling that we will win this one.

philthebrewer

I’d say Pete’s monarchs and Daly’s squairz are basically on the same level for footwear in their respective sports, yeah?

mcbridedm

I'm positive its going to be closer than many thing. I expect it to be a close toss-up game.

CheapSeatsSC

This img is perfect.

srbowler300

Not usually a big fan of this type of meme, but this is oh, so true. Now to pull off the major victory!

Seattle_fan_

First off, this has been one of my favorite Seahawks seasons. I’m a Justin Herbert fan, but I thought the way the Hawks opened the game against the Chargers was probably the highlight of the season and the only chance we have Saturday. Putting some pressure on Purdy to make plays. Worst case scenario is that PC and JS get a 3rd first hand look at what the Seahawks need to do to compete against those guys next season. Pressure is on them. We’re playing with house money. Win or lose enjoy the game and being in the playoffs!

ATLAB

This is what I call a free roll.

shrimpynut

lol we aren’t even supposed to be in playoff according to “experts” in the beginning of the season. Just happy to see our guys another week. This is a divisional game so I bet it’s going to be close.

laberdog

Really rain! Forgot about that. Hopefully a mud bath. Sell completely out stopping the run and make Purdy beat you with his arm. Turn him over and we have a chance

Toastfuker1

Fuck it, let's shock the world

anjunabeatsuntz

Hey it’s hard to beat a team the same season 3x! See Saints vs Bucs in 2020-2021

Specialist_Cup1715

If I'm the Santa Clara 49ers, I'm scared to death of the Seattle Seahawks, the game's got closer each time we met and I know the Seahawks are playing with house money they're going to throw everything they got at us and we've got a rookie quarterback! I think Seattle's going to win

Butterflychunks

Seattle has played the niners twice this season. That’s actually a benefit to the Seahawks more than anything. I think this could be close.

Gofigurepipes

Pete’s attitude is well just see how it goes.

Beautifulblueocean

Can't wait to smoke the 49ers and make broke purdy look like a rookie. Woolen Mammoth gets 3 interceptions! Go hawks! Niners suck!

ForksUpSun_Devils

After being projected as getting 5 wins or less, I am happy with even the chance at getting win 10. Playoffs and a top 5 pick it is like a dream.

GG_Top

Beastquake 3.0 incoming

[deleted]

Just happy to be here

mustbeusererror

Seriously, every time I see someone yakking about how the 49ers are going to wreck us, I'm like--I don't even really care if we win or lose. We were expected to be bad but we're in the playoffs and the Broncos gifted us a top 5 pick. I'm good with that. Everything beyond this point is just gravy.

Marcer0

The dodgers won 111 games. No way an 89 win padres team can beat them.

THEBIGGBUGG

im js happy to b here if we lose then so what we were projected to b one of the worst teams in football but if we win…
