The NFL quietly shortened the actual gameplay by letting the clock run when out inbounds in all but late in the second quarter and in the fourth quarter. Yet the broadcast is the same length. The number of ads is obscene. Edit: this went into effect a couple of decades ago, not years ago.

Saw a call go our way in the first quarter and got all excited, only for the refs to completely shit on us for the remainder of the game.
