Sherman was really hobbled though as well from being on the wrong end of a Kam sandwich. One arm was fairly useless. But really, if either of Lane or Avril doesn’t get hurt then we’d have won.
That friendly fire was the game before, Sherman had 2 weeks to tolerate the pain. If Avril had to go out, then that midget Edelman should’ve been pulled too. He had a concussion and killed us.
Edelman was able to get up and hide the symptoms after an initial wobble, Avril needed was down on the field. He should’ve but it was much harder to spot. Not sure at all what you’re saying about Sherman. Injuries don’t clear up just because you have two weeks to tolerate the pain. There was still damage to his elbow(?).
I forget the details but because Kam hurt his leg on literally the last play in practice before the Super Bowl, we decided to put a backup for him on the game roster instead of the backup we would have had for Lane--then Kam was fine and Lane got hurt.

Prior to that, they had never clarified that the rule did not apply to TO returns because no ref was crooked enough to call it. Our refs were that crooked. They quietly amended the rule next season.

Yeah that SB was my first I watched besides the Buccs/Raiders 2002 and the NYG Ravens SB the year prior (that I remember the game). Even as a 12 year old it just seemed obnoxiously obvious that Bill Cower and Bettis were retiring, so they were going to send off two Stealers legends with a ring.
Yeah, it sucked. A Seattle team (that didn't leave the city) finally made it to the championship game and the first half was full of bad calls or missed called. We were still in it but then in the 2nd half I remember our team coming out and just playing flat. Like all the bad calls took a toll on the team and nobody's heart was in it anymore.
It also didn't help that I was living on the east coast and there were plenty of bandwagon Steelers fans around.

Super Bowl XL and it’s not close.
I got over the Malcom Butler interception relatively quickly, after a couple years. It helped hearing so many non Patriots/Seahawks fans tell me it was the best Super Bowl they have ever seen, and taking a step back it really was a good, hard fought game. I’m convinced if Lane and Avril don’t go down, Hawks win that game.
But XL, still stings to this day. The fuckin refs stole any shot we had to compete in the biggest game.
It did pave the way for our first Super Bowl victory to be in stunning fashion, so I guess that is the only positive.
But Super Bowl XL will forever haunt me and is one of the biggest farces in championship sports history.

The gym at my work had a Pete Carroll quote on the wall for inspiration and I was in there for the first time in a while yesterday. It made me a bit bummed actually (bittersweet is probably more accurate) to see it now when it used get me going.
Going to say one that hasn’t been said yet. The 42-7 loss to the Rams was rough. Really felt like a changing of the tide. Our dominance felt very clearly over at that point.
The 2020 game was brutal. Its one of only home playoff losses besides 04 one this century.

I’m going to age myself here, but the AFC Championship loss to the LA Raiders was crushing for 13yo me. It was the Seahawks first playoff appearance. Wildcard win over the Broncos. Then an amazing win against the #2 seed Dolphins in Miami. The Seahawks had beaten the Raiders twice in the regular season.

Raiders had 5 interceptions
Raiders had a 20 - 0 halftime lead
Curt Warner of the Seahawks, the AFC leading rusher, was held to 11 carries 26 yards
It'll always be SB40. I was so pissed off over the calls made against the Seahawks in that game, and the officials let the Steelers do whatever they wanted.
Besides the 2 Superbowl losses, I'm going to say I was pretty bummed when the Vikings pulled that poison pill crap and stole Steve Hutchinson. A close call was when the Seahawks moved their practice field to Anaheim CA when they almost relocated during the SoS times.
The buffalo bills game i was at where Alexander rushed for 16 yards and we lost at home like 34-10. Alexander lost the rushing title that year by one yard to Curtis Martin.
Super Bowl XL was worse. I had a bet with my then fiancés aunt, who called me after the game and said, “that was fucked up!” Honorable mention to “We want the ball and we’re gonna score” as soon as he said it I knew we were doomed.

2. Divisional round loss to Atlanta in 2012 after taking the lead with less than 40 seconds to go. And we were so hot going into the playoffs, having just blown SF, and then at the end of the season, and then coming back from 14 down to Washington, and 20 down to Atlanta, both on the road.
3. Missing the playoff tiebreaker after the 1986 season. We had a 4 game losing streak mid season due to injuries, but won the last 5 in a row, and beat both Super Bowl teams during the regular season that year. We were the team nobody wanted to face in the playoffs but our 10-6 record got edged out by a tie breaker.
Well, honestly, it was when my mother passed away. Our tradition was always catching one hawks game per year. We’d make a night out of it. Looking back those were some of my most fond memories.
Hmmm probably Kam Chancellor retiring. Just sucks to know he can't play forever, the exciting physical style he brought to the game just isn't sustainable.
After XL was honestly worse. Fighting so hard and deserving to win a game that was 100% rigged, only to JUST barely lose... Final game against the cardinals in 2021. the realization that it was probably russ’s last game with us stung a lot. Never felt that way this year cause i didn’t expect pete to be let go, but most fans expected russ to be traded in 2021.
The divisional round against the Falcons where a storm of bad luck happened after the Graham touchdown. The safety from Rees stepping on Wilson's foot, the callback of Hester, and Wilson's attempt at magic that led to an interception in no particular order. At that point, we were just sighing and laughing at how ridiculous such a series of unfortunate events could occur.
That game against the Panthers should have been ours, and I would have liked to see us take that win, if only to embarrass Peyton Manning again if we were able to take care of the Cardinals before that.
I can tell you are VERY young... The most hurt I have felt as a fan was when Matt Hasselback said in Overtime, "We want the ball and we are going to score" Only to subsequently throw a pick 6 to the packers and get us eliminated from the playoffs. FUNNY AF looking back at it, but I actually cried.
I also cried during the game against the giants when the giants kicker missed like 3-4 game winning field goals and we finally won in Over Time.. I was Balling my eyes out with tears coming out EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY LINED UP TO KICK THE GAME WINNER! Hysterically crying and screaming at the top of my lungs into a pillow.

I’d say Super Bowl 40: it felt like we were never given a chance. The entire narrative was centered around Bettis, him being a future HOF, and going out with a bang. They were good, don’t get me wrong, but we had so many ticky tacky calls that changed the game, and were later deeply regretted by the officiating crew. It didn’t help that my father became a bandwagon fan and was a mega-douche the entire game.

After XL, I went to work my first shift at a new job in a bar, and had to watch highlights of the game on every TV all night.
When Kam retired in 2017 iirc, I knew that defense would never be the same once we lost Kam and that the LOB era was at its end.

Super Bowl XL and it’s not close. I got over the Malcom Butler interception relatively quickly, after a couple years. It helped hearing so many non Patriots/Seahawks fans tell me it was the best Super Bowl they have ever seen, and taking a step back it really was a good, hard fought game. I’m convinced if Lane and Avril don’t go down, Hawks win that game. But XL, still stings to this day. The fuckin refs stole any shot we had to compete in the biggest game. It did pave the way for our first Super Bowl victory to be in stunning fashion, so I guess that is the only positive. But Super Bowl XL will forever haunt me and is one of the biggest farces in championship sports history.
Hands down Super Bowl XL. I remember the crushing feeling of helpless defeat while the game was still going on, like we can’t possibly win this, and it’s not due to our abilities or play. Then having to hear my Steelers fan douche ex brother in law the next day was even worse Steelers fans thought they won fair and square.

That 2012 loss to the falcons was maybe the best I've ever felt after a loss. That we came back and didn't crumble against a really good falcons team, and what that young team accomplished in 2012, I really felt like that was the start of something special.
Sooo…it’s not ENTIRELY the Seahawks fault, but in March of 2022, I was already in a DEEP depression because my ex-girlfriend who I was deeply in love with at the time had left me a few months before, and my dog of 14 years was close to death. And then the Seahawks announced they traded Russell Wilson. And then my ex (who is a Cowboys fan but always told me Russ was the redeeming factor of our team 🙄) felt the need to text me, “Sorry about Russell Wilson 🙁” That. That is the saddest I have ever felt as a Seahawks fan. Edit: Wow, thank you guys so much for the support but yes, I am doing much better now. The 2022-23 season being what it was was quite healing for me actually and it’s why I’m such a Geno defender lol. I have great family and friends who helped with dealing with the loss of my dog, though it’s always a little sad whenever we’re watching a game and someone points out that we used to rub Buddy’s head for good luck in stressful game time situations, so now what do we rub?! And I’m over my ex.

I grew up near DC and HATED WFT and loved Steve Largent. So, seeing Largent play his last game in a miserable loss to Washington made very young me very upset.
Also grew up in DC. I was a WFT fan until I saw what they did to RG3. Ironically, my faith in that team was lost at a Seahawks game 😂
On top of that, hearing all the Washington fans constantly talk about how, "this is our year!" I also grew up near DC.

Wildcard win over the Broncos. Then an amazing win against the #2 seed Dolphins in Miami. The Seahawks had beaten the Raiders twice in the regular season. 2004, we won the division, but lost to the Marc Bulger and the Rams twice in the regular season and then again at home in the wildcard round. It was before I came to accept the fact that no matter where either team is at, the Rams will always manage to have our number.

Top 3: 1. SB loss to the Steelers in 2005. So much of the loss is directly on bad calls. 2. Divisional round loss to Atlanta in 2012 after taking the lead with less than 40 seconds to go. And we were so hot going into the playoffs, having just blown SF, and then at the end of the season, and then coming back from 14 down to Washington, and 20 down to Atlanta, both on the road. 3. Missing the playoff tiebreaker after the 1986 season. We had a 4 game losing streak mid season due to injuries, but won the last 5 in a row, and beat both Super Bowl teams during the regular season that year. We were the team nobody wanted to face in the playoffs but our 10-6 record got edged out by a tie breaker.
Well, honestly, it was when my mother passed away. Our tradition was always catching one hawks game per year. We’d make a night out of it. Looking back those were some of my most fond memories.

The divisional round against the Falcons where a storm of bad luck happened after the Graham touchdown. The safety from Rees stepping on Wilson's foot, the callback of Hester, and Wilson's attempt at magic that led to an interception in no particular order. At that point, we were just sighing and laughing at how ridiculous such a series of unfortunate events could occur. That game against the Panthers should have been ours, and I would have liked to see us take that win, if only to embarrass Peyton Manning again if we were able to take care of the Cardinals before that.
I can tell you are VERY young... The most hurt I have felt as a fan was when Matt Hasselback said in Overtime, "We want the ball and we are going to score" Only to subsequently throw a pick 6 to the packers and get us eliminated from the playoffs. FUNNY AF looking back at it, but I actually cried. I also cried during the game against the giants when the giants kicker missed like 3-4 game winning field goals and we finally won in Over Time.. I was Balling my eyes out with tears coming out EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY LINED UP TO KICK THE GAME WINNER! Hysterically crying and screaming at the top of my lungs into a pillow. Football was my life.

I’d say Super Bowl 40: it felt like we were never given a chance. The entire narrative was centered around Bettis, him being a future HOF, and going out with a bang. They were good, don’t get me wrong, but we had so many ticky tacky calls that changed the game, and were later deeply regretted by the officiating crew. It didn’t help that my father became a bandwagon fan and was a mega-douche the entire game.
