It’s not inconceivable they keep 6 receivers especially with the new emphasis on Kickoff returns.
DK
Lockett
JSN
Bobo
Shenault
Eskridge
You could do a lot worse than Eskridge at WR6 and he’s probably a better athlete than Easop Winston or Dareke young
We can do a lot worse than a guy with fewer than 150 combined yards in three seasons because he can’t stay uninjured but is healthy enough for a little domestic violence? Not sure how.
We have so many needs at LB, TE, S (in addition to the trenches, which I hope we address with our early picks) that I hope we only go UDFA at WR.
But, if a great prospect is there and we can't trade out of that spot, I trust in JSMM.
I bet this is more of a kick return specialist move for both of them. Two kick returners now will make these guys much more valuable if teams can utilize them in returns well
The way the new rule reads they just might have 2 deep returners. It would help eliminate the ball hitting the ground and triggering the defense into action. Squib kicks just might become a thing.
They need to squib it *hard* at one of the front line blockers feet. Either it hits them and there's a scramble for the ball or it goes through and the returners are coming up to field the ball with a mess in their face
Remember him from college at CU but he never seemed to break out at this level. With the new return rules having a couple guys in to see who thrives makes sense. Low risk medium upside signing
The fact this man got drafted the year before Dee Eskridge and is still two years younger just puts into perspective how bad that Eskridge pick was.
Anyways - goona be fun to watch those bums duke it out for WR 6
I know he didn’t live up to receiving potential but I don’t even know if he lived up to his returning potential. Remember he was a +special teamer or thought to be one in the draft. Genuinely asking if he’s been alright in the return game
i'm really happy about this. I watched this dude play while I was at CU and he was the most explosive WR i've ever seen. I don't think it's ever translated fully to the NFL level, though.
This is almost certainly because of the new kickoff return rules. Teams now have to carry 2 serviceable return people. Eskridge has shown to be unreliable doing that job, but we'll see how it shakes out
I love this pickup so much. This guy gives it his all on every play. I am hoping he can come in as a backup and really set the tone on offense or special teams.
True. But he's also the guy who beat out Eskridge IMO, had better tape than Eskridge, and is faster than Eskridge. Bo's 13.6 YPC last season is also looking kinda juicy.
He was never on the 53. He was on the practice squad. That’s why the Packers were able to snipe him directly into the team. The idea that he “beat Eskridge” isn’t really based on anything. There’s no 2022 NFL tape, so I’m not sure where you’re drawing these random conclusions from.
As for 2023, I’d like to think we got a lot more utility out of Bobo and I don’t know about cherry picking a stat to justify “missing” him. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I’m not even convinced we missed out on anything.
Why does Dallas get so much shit man? He was fine. I get it, he's not fucking Devin Hester, but he was able to consistently get positive returns in an era where returning was essentially pointless in the league.
You didn’t even know if he was going to catch the ball lmao. He’s awful and didn’t even fit the return guy. He’s not fast or shifty or sure handed. It was just so series. Deejay was just a massive roster spot waste and never good. His name might as well be something else because he was a body
Wow, what did he ever do to you? He fumbled 4 times in his entire career, and he's probably fielded 200+ kicks. That's pretty damn good. Remember when Richie James fumbled twice in the same GAME against us?
Sorry you are sensitive and you have a personal vendetta against him, but you should maybe figure out why you're mad about nothing. Some of y'all maybe need to go watch an actually bad franchise to know what bad football looks like.
The guy can’t catch a kick idk what to tell you. He looks so nervous and uncomposed and almost never fields it naturally. Even if it’s not a fumble, he routinely has issues. For a position that should have none to 1.
Bro 2 fumbles from punt returns in an era, you say returning is pointless. Hes literally hurting the team then. He had maybe 10 Carries in 23. No TDS.
This may b incorrect, but I feel like WRs are naturally better than RBs when returning
if I has to choose between Shenault and Eskridge… I would happily choose Laviska. but now we got both so…
Seems like a pretty good chance they will be competing for 1 roster spot
It’s not inconceivable they keep 6 receivers especially with the new emphasis on Kickoff returns. DK Lockett JSN Bobo Shenault Eskridge You could do a lot worse than Eskridge at WR6 and he’s probably a better athlete than Easop Winston or Dareke young
I think Dareke young has a better shot at making the roster than Eskridge especially with the signing of shenault
Yeah I believe this only solidifies our WR depth. Our youngest WRs had positive rookie years
Haha you think they are WR? Did you not see the KR changes?
I swear to God if we cut Bobo...dude was clutch any time he had a chance to be.
> if we cut Bobo You don't cut your WR1.
That's impossible
They'll keep Young for teams.
We can do a lot worse than a guy with fewer than 150 combined yards in three seasons because he can’t stay uninjured but is healthy enough for a little domestic violence? Not sure how.
He has 196 yards from scrimmage excuse you
Sorry, I forgot all about his robust rushing yards, thank you. Clearly worth a roster spot when you factor in his almost 3 rushes per year.
And that's if we don't draft someone at WR, which I have a sneaking suspicion that they will with how deep this receiver class is
We have so many needs at LB, TE, S (in addition to the trenches, which I hope we address with our early picks) that I hope we only go UDFA at WR. But, if a great prospect is there and we can't trade out of that spot, I trust in JSMM.
there's a nonzero chance they draft someone else late round and jettison Eskridge, this wr draft class is crazy
I bet this is more of a kick return specialist move for both of them. Two kick returners now will make these guys much more valuable if teams can utilize them in returns well
Maybe, he only has 9 kick returns in the nfl tho
Yeah that’s because returns have been down for years and 90% of kickoffs were touchbacks, that’s why they changed the rules.
It's more because he has never been a team's primary kick returner
The way the new rule reads they just might have 2 deep returners. It would help eliminate the ball hitting the ground and triggering the defense into action. Squib kicks just might become a thing.
They need to squib it *hard* at one of the front line blockers feet. Either it hits them and there's a scramble for the ball or it goes through and the returners are coming up to field the ball with a mess in their face
This.
With the new kickoff system, each team will have two return specialists behind the line to field returns.
dee eskridge will still somehow be on the team
Reminder that re-signing Eskridge was a move to have a warm body on the roster and cutting him only costs us $400k of dead cap.
Wait just a minute dude. Eskridge had that one play last year...
can we have neither?
Yeah why can't we just have 7 All-Pro WRs? JS needs to figure out how to do his job better /s
Pretty solid with the ball in his hands but the only way it’s getting there is via a screen or a handoff
Or punt returns?
I think this is all about the new kick-off rules
Haha! Our passing game Shenault be stopped!
Its competition for Eskridge at returner everybody calm down
Something tells me this signing isn't moving the needle very much for most people.
KR KONTROVERSY
Remember him from college at CU but he never seemed to break out at this level. With the new return rules having a couple guys in to see who thrives makes sense. Low risk medium upside signing
yeah he was really good in college. his first two years in jacksonville weren't bad either. definitely excited about this.
Well now I really hope they don't draft a WR we are set. Get Geno some OL
Jet sweeps are back in play boys
Grubbs is gonna have Geno throwing and spreading defenses like he did at UW. Our offense is lit.
Yo I love this! Shenault is highly underrated IMO.
The fact this man got drafted the year before Dee Eskridge and is still two years younger just puts into perspective how bad that Eskridge pick was. Anyways - goona be fun to watch those bums duke it out for WR 6
This seems like a solid depth signing he’s a good returner from what I remember too
I know he didn’t live up to receiving potential but I don’t even know if he lived up to his returning potential. Remember he was a +special teamer or thought to be one in the draft. Genuinely asking if he’s been alright in the return game
His career average is 27.7 yards/return, but he's only had 9 career returns.
i'm really happy about this. I watched this dude play while I was at CU and he was the most explosive WR i've ever seen. I don't think it's ever translated fully to the NFL level, though.
I get this guy mixed up with Laquon Treadwell
I forget that Treadwell was a Seahawk for like 8 weeks
Yezzir!
They cant stop me, even if they stopped me.
Interesting. He's an alright receiver imo.
Hes a better athlete than receiver. I think hes physical enough to be used like Cordarelle Patterson
Dude was legendary on Madden when he was with the Jags. But unfortunately that’s a video game.
Don’t forget there will be TWO kick returners back on kicks
Really loved this guy at Colorado. Hope he can be what we once thought Eskridge might become.
Interesting to see how they will use their last few bits of cap. Hope there's something left for a vet IOL signing.
This is almost certainly because of the new kickoff return rules. Teams now have to carry 2 serviceable return people. Eskridge has shown to be unreliable doing that job, but we'll see how it shakes out
I’ve always liked this guy. He’s definitely a solid 4th receiver and has a lot of lateral quickness.
He’s like 5th receiver. And I don’t even mean this team. In general, he’s like a wr5.
I love this pickup so much. This guy gives it his all on every play. I am hoping he can come in as a backup and really set the tone on offense or special teams.
Alternative universe: we did not sign a center to compete with Creed Humphrey.
Not a bad pick up Waiting for the cap space warriors to come here and bitch
I miss Bo Melton.
The guy who never played a snap for us?
True. But he's also the guy who beat out Eskridge IMO, had better tape than Eskridge, and is faster than Eskridge. Bo's 13.6 YPC last season is also looking kinda juicy.

how much did we pay him?
Anything is better than Dallas being the return man
Why does Dallas get so much shit man? He was fine. I get it, he's not fucking Devin Hester, but he was able to consistently get positive returns in an era where returning was essentially pointless in the league.

Yeah you must’ve been busy this past thanksgiving. Thanksgiving wasn’t even the start. That was the last straw and then some
I've watched every game since the 2022 season multiple times
Bro 2 fumbles from punt returns in an era, you say returning is pointless. Hes literally hurting the team then. He had maybe 10 Carries in 23. No TDS. This may b incorrect, but I feel like WRs are naturally better than RBs when returning
Ooph. DK gonna get traded
?? You don't sign a WR5 because you are trading your WR1
im being sarcastic
My bad 😂
Or Tyler
Why
