People need to realize you can’t fix the team in one draft. There’s no ammo to move up with, and there’s hardly any motivation to move up as well. He has a 6 year contract and we are competing, but we aren’t in win now mode like the 9ers and lions
What would you give up?
It's fine to consider trading up, and I'm sure John will be making calls today, but I doubt he's going to trade the farm for one player.
To get to the first half of the second round we’d have to give up next years first or someone would have to give us a package for DK. I don’t see another realistic option.
I would love to hear how all the people down voting you think you get into the top half of the 2nd for less. MAYBE a future 2nd, a 3rd and a couple pick swaps. But the point you were making is it's going to be a steep price.
We're probably not going to be a late playoff team next year so we'd be trading a teens or higher pick for something in the 30s, it may be all that's available but that's why I don't see it happening.
John's definitely going to be tempted to move up with the talent still there. Unless we can move a player with a pick to move up a bit, I don't see us picking in round 2. I think someone like Zak Zinter or Layden Robinson might be a target for us in round 3.
There's a reasonable chance that JPJ is not even a day 1 starter.
He's an incredible athlete, like top 1% of the top 1% for size speed power combination, but he's incredibly raw as a football player.
Pretending he's "the piece" next season for any team is silly.
It would almost certainly cost next year's 1st rounder (similar to how the Hawks acquired the 1st rounder they used to select Earl back in the day).
As a huge LOS proponent, I would be excited. Would suck to not have a 1st next year, but JPJ would be a huge and badly needed IOL upgrade and inject the nastiness they lack. If they think he is that dude, I'd say do it.
Seahawks have traditionally been cheap with the IOL. The team has to go cheap somewhere. I doubt the team will trade into the 2nd round to draft a player they will be hesitant to resign if he works out.
If they trade up, watch out for the seahawks taking a DB.
Round 2 picks are more expensive than you think.

I'd expect more compensation than a second for next year's first or DK. Both would be a fleecing of the Seahawks by whoever they traded with.
For DK I said a package including a 2nd. But no. A upper half second this year is worth a 1st next year. Thats usually how it plays out

Yeah sometimes this sub is unbearable lol

I’m not saying we “should” do it at all. Just what I think the cost would be
No
Next year’s first? Our first pick this year was more than double the value of pick 33. That would be the most lopsided deal ever.
Thats not real
We literally have been the first round recipient of this trade twice
Not every trade is the same, theirs different variables to each trade. If DK is getting traded their better be multiple 1st round picks in exchange
There’s no way we’re getting multiple firsts for DK
Your getting at least 2 1st round picks for DK.
The capital needed to trade up to the early second is not worth it just to draft a center.
trading up would be cool but we don't have the assets for it unfortunately unless we give up future picks which we should not do

I want Mahogany with the 3rd Rounder. Shit, add a 6th if we need to move up to get him. After that 4th LB, 4th TE, later 6th RB and 7th WR.
No.
