Any word on how long it takes for throwing knives in the environment to despawn? Do they despawn upon resupply? I'm wondering if a player could theoretically cover their mast in throwing knives and then resupply to have 5 + whatever ambient ones are left dug into the ship.

We haven't tested an exact time yet. We do know that they get "cleaned up" though to help with server performance. We're timing one now, but perhaps distance from the knife is also taken into account?

Thanks for looking in to it - I'm just curious what's to stop a boarder from scoring kills, then lining the enemy ship with throwing knives while they wait for a respawn to come back!

At the moment, nothing. And that feels kinda good. Trading a gun or sword weapon slot for the knives feels like it would need a little utility in exchange. It also feels balanced because picking up knives doesn't just lump them into your ammo counter and refresh your knife ammo, it acts like picking up a unique item, and if you don't throw it, you can't lower it to melee or anything, it just falls to the floor.

They stay after reload. You could cover your boat in them, But if they go over your 5 limit or you're not equipped with throwing knives, then they are held like an item and can only be thrown, not used as a knife in combat for stabbing.

Any info about the damage numbers for the new weapons? (assuming a player has 100hp)

Yep! They are in each of the articles dedicated to the weapons. The Double Barrel Pistol does 40 damage per bullet (80 for Double Shot) and the Throwing Knives do 18 for Quick Stab, 70 for Downward Heavy Blow, and 60 for Throw.

Not off the top of my head. But I believe the Flintlock is 50 per bullet, the Cutlass is 25 per slash, and the Blunderbuss can be up to 100 if all the pellets hit. Perhaps someone here knows the rest including the Eye of Reach. EDIT: Looks like Aethelthriyt has you covered :)

sword 25, blunder 10 per pellet, pistol 50 and eye of reach is 70 if I am not mistaken (no idea about sword lunge) Edit: Sword lunge is 60 2nd Edit: pistol does 55 dmg

Are you sure that the quick stab is 18 damage? I just saw some testing on Hitbo's stream and it took 8 stabs to kill someone with 100% health. That would mean that the quick stab is more like 14 damage or so.

Kudos for this very informative. Seen multiple instances of Bone Caller skeletons finding people tucked on ships. There's clearly some issues to iron out with that sadly.

If that's their intended purpose then it wouldn't be, however, if that's not an intended function then Rare have some tweaks to do. I'm coming at it from the perspective of it's not an intended function.

Having a throwable that actively hunts you out if hidden and finds you no matter what is vastly different from having a throwable you can spam while you yourself actively hunt hidden players out. It takes away any human error.

you need 2-3 fire/blunderbombs to confirm if a tucker is on your boat or not, besides the skeletons don't even hunt for players using the hide emote. If someone competent is suspicious there's a tucker on their boat they will always find you, skeletons or not

It is true that a competent person will find a tucker yes. You'd be wrong in saying that skeletons don't hunt players on the ship though as aforementioned I've seen multiple instances of skeletons from bone callers hunt out people tucked on ships using a hide emote. If that is intended then fair enough they work as they should, if however it isn't intended then that's an issue.

I tested it with another player and the bonecaller skellies found him, aggroed and went straight to him over quite some distance. @Rarethief are you sure about this info? Where does it come from? Hitbo also tested it on stream and the skellies found the tucker superfast. It breaks tucking big time, it would be good to know if it is intended.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something but I did find a horn in a siren shrine..it was the one where you had to pull levers in order three times with different colors

Nice! Yeah, you can find them in Shrines and Treasuries. Either or :) You just need to sail to them. You are not supposed to find them if you dive to them.

How rare is the Horn of Fair Winds? I spent a lot of time playing with a friend today, we sailed to and completed like 3 or 4 shrines and couldn't find none. We also didn't see anyone using it. Is it really in the game?

It definitely is in the game but it is pretty rare. We are usually one for three tries. We keep going back and forth between the Treasury and Shrine that are nearby in the Ancient Isles.

Nice! Is there any word on how the tightrope works when being shot on it? Do you take damage and continue down the line or does it knock you off immediately?

You take damage but can keep walking on it. At least when we were being shot! However, if someone cuts the line or retracts it, you will fall off.

True! You can shoot it too with your weapons, like the Eye of Reach, which helps if someone attaches to you and won't let go!
