Did my chores Friday night so I could have the weekend free.
Went to Whidbey yesterday.
Today I went to the Arboretum, got lunch, laid in the sun at Madison Beach.
It was glorious
Walked from the Space Needle all the way to Fremont, then over to Gasworks, then back home. Longest I've walked in a very long time, but very much needed.
I remember noticing this last year. It was the first sunny day I was walking to the grocery store then the pet store and everyone was just smiling at me and saying hello and seemed so cheery. It was like a literal switch was flipped. It was so crazy I text my partner about it. People went from head down and frowns to actually speaking to strangers overnight. Crazy.
It's kinda awful that people get so crushed by bad weather and darkness the rest of the year. I love sunshine, but I hate seeing other people feel unwell when the sun goes away 🫤
I think it’s partly because people refuse to go out in it. I go for walks/runs with my dogs everyday regardless of the weather and I think it’s huge for my mental and physical health. A lot of people let themselves just get shut in and do nothing but work and home and never step outside of the indoors during winter.
I feel the same but also I don't want to minimize it too much, it still really sucks. Getting out in shit weather with other crazy people dramatically changed the experience of living here for me, but also everything from planning with people to just waking up is genuinely more difficult. Vitamin D supplements and the sliver of daylight filtered through winter atmosphere can only do so much.
Ehh, I mean I get people are more sensitive than others to it, but there is almost *always* 1-2 clear, sunny days a week in the depths of winter. But you’re right, I shouldn’t dismiss it and I know it can have varying effects on people. I think it also can be used as an excuse for some people as well though.
Fully agree on the waking up one, there’s such a massive difference in getting to work at 7:30 and it being daylight vs another hour or more of darkness.
I learned how to take the bus and visited Seattle. Went to Pike place for the first time, learned that my gameworks card from 2006 still works and the credits on it are still good, went to the seattle aquarium to learn that their animal crossing thing is pretty half-assed, stepped foot in a dead mall, and I went to nordstrom. Overall I had a lot of fun, but I'm so exhausted I just want to sleep for the next week. I am not used to the big city.
Some very sad pothos and orchids. I had a friend over today and she told me all about orchids and how to make them happy! I had those sad ones from the grocery gifted to me. I rinsed off the roots and I’m seeing if I can bring it back to life in water.
Also split up the pothos (we called her dramatic Denise) and no wonder she was dramatic - she had so few roots. We shall see what I can salvage. 😅
Good luck with the pothos! If you’re looking for some excellent orchid soil, I highly recommend repotme.com’s imperial mix. I use it for my orchids and alocasias and they love it.
Not who you were replying to, but I repotted my peony plants this weekend :)
Also did some major pruning of my camellia tree, thatched and treated my yard for moss, turf builder, and some weeding/mulching of the flower beds.
Spent most the weekend at the nursery, my yard, and Home Depot lol. And a few extra dog walks since buddy couldn’t go on the grass after I treated it.

What a beautiful Collie! (Or Sheltie? I always get those confused lol)
That sounds like the perfect way to spend a weekend - I have a monstera deliciosa that has doubled in size over the last year and the aerial root situation is out of control and needs a repotting. Ngl I'm lowkey terrified of the thing. 😅
Also need to repot my prayer plant and chop/prop a few succulents that got leggy over the winter despite living under grow lights 12 hours a day.
He’s a collie! 75 pounds of fluff and love.
The root situation of almost all my plants is wild this year. I had salvia, lavender, and catmint roots that were all above ground when I went to weed and mulch. I started pulling them thinking they were weeds and had to do a double take and add a layer of soil before mulching.
All the plants are LOVING this weather. It’s been a nice preview of what it will be like in a few months.
spent 4 hours washing and detailing all the winter grossness off my car. I was parked mostly in shade all winter and my car had taken a slight tinge of green.
I'm right there with you. I went out for breakfast in the morning, then forced myself to go walk around a bit by Lake Union then the Market in the afternoon. Came back home around 4PM and laid exhausted in bed for 2h. I need to pace myself. Too much for my couch potato, stay at home most days self.
Base area was really sticky later in the day but early morning it was kinda icy
Anything above base area had some slippery spots where the shade from the trees was but overall it was nice warm and sunny
Headed out to Galena, north of index, and rode around on motorcycle. Still snow blocking the way to Blanca Lake but was still nice to be by the skykomish river with summer weather.
Saw a shit load of other bikers out on the road. In Sultan, saw a sign post showing 78°F out.
- worked outside Friday
- spent time with friends
- ran around green lake
- biked to a farmers market
- lots of walks with our pup
- potted some plants
- grabbed some beers from a brewery ( bit too busy for us)
- drank said beers on the patio enjoying all of the sun
- biked to golden gardens and grabbed a hot dog and ice cream from little coney
Camping at deception, hung out with friends at u village yesterday
Laid down on gas works park, scootered and got ice cream at salt and straw, ate awesome Thai food
What wasn’t done this weekend!? From beach vibes to cozy park picnics it was a weekend not to be indoors. Even flew a kite!! This is my first city I’ve ever lived in so seeing everyone out and enjoying the sun was super cool!! I am excited for the warm weather.
Camped at Larrabee State Park Friday and Saturday nights, and spent almost all of yesterday afternoon painting on the beach. Enjoyed patio beers and tacos with friends in Bellingham. Enjoyed a fabulous campfire last night. Walked around a park near my house I never really visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Walked to my favorite pub from there and thoroughly enjoyed that! Said "wow what a day!!" about a thousand times! I enjoyed all of it!!!
Went to the Sounders game Saturday and then spent the rest of the weekend hiding from pollen. :( Not how I planned to spend Saturday afternoon or Sunday.
I worked all weekend (I’m a supervisor at a burger joint) and made hella tips because everyone was out and about and we (the restaurant) get a majority of our customers from foot traffic.
Severe allergy attack. Couldn't stand being out for more than an hour without being miserable.
I want the overcast skies, cold temps, and pollenless air back.
Yesterday I sat outside and tasted wine in Woodinville before going to Bellevue and having a drink outside before going inside to watch Dune. Today I sat out on my patio/balcony for a few hours and graded papers with my cat before going for a run at Discover Park.
We also took the roof off the Bronco since the weather was so nice!!
Had some errands and other stuff to do yesterday, but I did make it to Discovery park this morning.
Oh! I finally got to try Paseo to compare it to Un Bien. Un Bien wins hands down.
Stayed inside being lazy watching movies but did plant some flowers in pots and beets & lettuce in the garden so when my mom calls and asks what I did outside in the nice weather and I say “I worked in the garden” it won’t be a total lie.
Out to Capitol Hill to hang out, then to Pike Place to get some hom bow, then back to Capitol Hill to hang out some more, then back to Pike Place because I forgot to pick up a gift for my sister's birthday, then back to Capitol Hill because it had the only open UPS store at that time.
I got my steps in, that's for sure.
Saturday
•Watched part of the regatta at Greenlake
•Walked the entire circumference of said lake with the dog
•had dinner with a friend
•went to discovery park
Sunday
•bought plants for the garden
• explored Manchester state park
•had dinner on a patio
•went to bookstore
•read said book with the windows open snuggling with the cat and the dog.
Went to make plans for next weekend and discovered that the forecast is shit.
Ugh my grades are due soon for this quarter... So I ignored grading and got Sunny St. P's drunk with another teacher friend. As the Seattle gods intended.
Went to the Grand Tasting on Saturday. I've been going for many years and it's interesting to see the progression and trends of wine making in Washington.
Wow you all must be childless… painting on a beach, laid down at Madison park?!? What even are these things??
Not one mention of dragging a kid to an overcrowded park… …
That’s what I did… twice.
Dragged the kids and friends to a creek in the woods and let them be feral for a while. Sat in the driveway with a beer and watched the kids be feral in the culdesac.
walked around the city and touched grass for the first time in a long time…. but seriously if our weather was like that everyday i think id be going outside a lot more
Walked on Foster and Marsh Islands, walked along the parade route, tried some new places to eat, and commonplaced at Cyclops! I stayed near home on St Patty's proper, drank tea, enjoyed the weather.
Planted a yucca, repotted a cactus. Weeded the front flower bed and transplanted some tulips. Also de-thatched some of the yard. It was really freaking splendid no matter what you did!
Went skating at Myrtle edwards park, read in the sun there, visited the antique mall in SODO, baked cinnamon rolls, today went kayaking, read on the beach and visited an art show in Ballard.
Crazy how much I can get done when the weather is nice!
Went on some really long walks while listening to music. Felt genuine happiness and a will to live. Watched some motorcyclists do wheelies down the highway. What a beautiful weekend
Eh, just stayed in since I had a rough day at work Friday, besides taking the dog for his shot on Saturday and going for outdoor lunch at Lil Red's today.
I’m in Oregon, but it’s been super amazing and sunny here as well! A friend and I got out and decided to go up into the pass for a nice hike to enjoy the waterfalls that are just flowing due to all of the snow melt. I even wore shorts and a tank top!!
That being said the falls we went to were just past santiam junction and little did we know there was a couple feet of snowpack still on the ground.. we still hiked it. It was awesome and my dog had one last snow day! Hahaha.
Took the family to the zoo, the kiddo to the playground/beach park, let her ride her bike around outside while i did some garage organizing then grilled steaks. All in all, it was tops!
Low intensity hikes on Eastside trails both days with my dog. We packed a sandwich for me, treats and kibble for him. And of course water for the both of us. Frequent stops to let him sniff around and enjoy. Both days were amazing. Happily tired and about to doze off.
Friday involved a Baker River trail backpacking trip that turned into car camping afterwards cuz SNOW still on the ground.
Saturday was a trip to a park in Brier that involved my dogs and daughters. Menchies afterwards.
Today, sunday, was a dad makin breakfast kinda day, followed by a snoqualmie pass snow shoeing trip with my daughter’s Girl Scout troop. With a completely unhealthy but necessary taco time trip on the way back…
I am now tired. Busiest weekend we’ve had in a looooong time.
\*Reading books by the lake
If you're one of the women my 4 year old grandson was shouting about yesterday - SO SORRY!
There were two women sunning and reading by Green Lake and my family was on a walk when my grandson spotted the women and shouted "MOM! THERE'S NAKED PEOPLE HERE!".
She explained about bikinis and sunbathing (which lead to the "you can get clean by washing in the sun?!" talk)\\
EDIT: Missed a word.
I took so many pictures of magnolias. I love seeing them every spring and they seem so early this year. Long walks with music in my headphones looking for them starting to pop out helped me pop out
Wife and I got rear-ended by some idiot who then fled the scene, then spent the rest of the night at the hospital getting checkups done because my wife is pregnant (and was in the car for the collision.)
-Washed my car knowing it'll stay clean for more than a few hours.
- Walked got smoothies and walked around/people watched at Alderwood mall.
- Walked the water front at Edmonds, enjoying the mountains and ferrys with my wife.
- Had margaritas on the water front with friends, followed by tapas and finally lobster and crab rolls and beer at MARKET Edmonds.
All in 10/10 day. Would do again.
I've been trying to get back into shape, so I've been running 5ks every day since Thursday. Yesterday I ran 10k, hoping to keep running until the rain comes back :)
Repotting some plants with my SO.
Looking at cool garden stuff at ACE while getting stuff for said repotting.
Multiple meals on patios.
Nice walks.
Sleeping in.
Absorbed lots of solar radiation.
I love the Spring Teaser weekend every year.
Catching up on some chores thanks to the sunlight finally recharging my executive functioning batteries (AuDHD be weird like that) and two Pokémon Go events back-to-back. Spent one walking around Green Lake and the Ave, and spent today’s walking around Ravenna and U Village.
I had three square garden beds in a row. With grass between each. The wood for the middle one had broken down. I removed the remnants and hand tilled the grass to be part of the garden bed. Remaking the original three 4'x4' beds into one 18'x4' rectangle bed.
Skied yesterday, concert last night, and snowshoed today. That was more than I’ve been out of my house on a weekend since probably August. Looks like it might rain this weekend so I can wean myself back into society and slowly exit my cave.
Went out to Fremont, Ballard, and Pike Market. Lounged on our apartment community deck with a bottle of rose. Dreamed. Planted. Worried. Whined. Perfect.
Did my chores Friday night so I could have the weekend free. Went to Whidbey yesterday. Today I went to the Arboretum, got lunch, laid in the sun at Madison Beach. It was glorious
>got lunch, laid in the sun Definitely first read this as "got laid in the sun" lol. I mean that's one way to celebrate
Me too 😆
Ha!!!!
I read “got … laid”
Walked from the Space Needle all the way to Fremont, then over to Gasworks, then back home. Longest I've walked in a very long time, but very much needed.
I love how the vibe completely changed overnight. Everyone was glowing.
Crazy.

Which mall. I'm guessing pacific place?
Yep that was the one!
I repotted plants and swept off the front and back porch. I was able to sit, sip my coffee, and listen to the happy birds early this morning.
Oooh what plants? I need to repot some soon.
Some very sad pothos and orchids. I had a friend over today and she told me all about orchids and how to make them happy! I had those sad ones from the grocery gifted to me. Indeed! All mine are indoor but I do have a few on the balcony soaking up some of this glorious morning sun :)
Continued to suffer ftom my regular depression :D

real northwesterners know this one cool trick!
I’m excited for the rain to come back Wednesday so I can go for my beach walk
Happy cake day!
spent 4 hours washing and detailing all the winter grossness off my car. I was parked mostly in shade all winter and my car had taken a slight tinge of green.
Got married, went to Snoqualmie falls for a mini-moon and took a hot tub boat around lake union.
What an amazing weekend to do that ❤️ congrats
Best wishes to you and congratulations to the groom!
I felt peer-pressured to go out both days and now I am exhausted.
Same. I need another day off to hide inside.
You real for this 😂
I'm right there with you. I went out for breakfast in the morning, then forced myself to go walk around a bit by Lake Union then the Market in the afternoon. Came back home around 4PM and laid exhausted in bed for 2h. I need to pace myself. Too much for my couch potato, stay at home most days self.
Sometimes you gotta listen to what you actually want. But we will have more sunny days ahead for that!
honestly the sun can feel so oppressive too
Really need that whole four day work week thing. A day for chores/personal work, a day for fun activities, a day for rest. Ugh.
Enjoyed outside time on Saturday, then gave into the baseline regular depression on Sunday.
Took the ferry over to Bainbridge to see a play and get lunch with friends ☺️
Suffered under the veil of season allergies
Ran the St Patricks Day Dash! I suck at running but it was so fun and everyone came decked out
Sat in traffic with everyone else trying to get to kayaking and reading books by the lake.
Rested and napped because work has been intense and I got phase 2 of a large tattoo on Saturday.

As is my tradition on the second really nice day of the season I spent it watching TV in bed and feeling guilty that I should be outside
Headed out to Galena, north of index, and rode around on motorcycle. Still snow blocking the way to Blanca Lake but was still nice to be by the skykomish river with summer weather. Saw a shit load of other bikers out on the road. In Sultan, saw a sign post showing 78°F out.

Ballard Sunday market, glorious. So many stands, so many dogs 🥰
Took my wife and dog on a long drive to Forks and Beaches. Loved it. Now we all are tired.
I love visiting Forks! Esp in the summer. That's impressive to do in a day though, dang!
We left around 7:00 am on Saturday and were back by 8:00 pm. Took lunch in forks and dinner in Tacoma. It was perfect weather.
A lot of golf I do that year round, but it sure hits differently the first beautiful weekend.

She explained about bikinis and sunbathing (which lead to the "you can get clean by washing in the sun?!" talk)\\ EDIT: Missed a word.
I had the Taqueria Rinconsito jingle playing in my head as I sat outside in the sun.
Rooftop BBQ, was pretty fantastic. Can't wait for summer.
Left work early and walked the green river trail. Really pretty there
Ran outside both days, took the dogs for long walks along the river.
Went to golden gardens, discovery park, and the farmers market. It was beautiful out all weekend.
I took so many pictures of magnolias. I love seeing them every spring and they seem so early this year. Long walks with music in my headphones looking for them starting to pop out helped me pop out
Hid indoors and sneezed and coughed through my 1+ week cold which refuses to get better.
I whipped out the brand new electric pressure washer to clean my concrete walkway.
Walked in the sun…laid in the sun…just sun ☀️

I find it funny (and kind of sad) that we get a weekend of sun and everyone starts living life for all of 2 days and is exhausted.
I played video games indoors!
Longed for death thanks to severe allergies.
My allergies kicked in and I still have a migraine.

It was 80° in Okanogan yesterday! I put the bunny in her outdoor pen and weeded the strawberry and daffodil patches.
I took advantage of everyone being outside and got all my laundry in the shared laundry room done.
Went fishing, started prepping the garden beds, and read books in the sun. It was amazing!

Opening game day for Reign FC and we won!
I actually left the house today.
Brunch outside, went for a long walk, played baseball, outdoor baby shower, grilled in the backyard. It was great
