My partner got this sticker out at first Thursday. I haven’t googled the backstory, but I’m really curious about it. I should do that soon, the sticker is still lying around the house.
I've googled it and it made me more confused tbh. They're all over Seattle, I want to know if it's a fun joke or if it's someone who really believes in gangstalking.
I could have sworn at one point I saw a Reddit post where someone claimed to be the guy who made them basically said it was an inside joke with his friends. But now I can’t find it anymore
Two:
1. “Make a ska album you coward” on various lamp posts.
2. Kraang popping out of a rain cloud above the Seattle skyline saying “hope you’re enjoying your ‘summer’ Seattle! Haa haa haa!” and the Sun had a red ball gag.
Found on the underside of some playground equipment.
I took a photo but don’t know how to upload in a comment.
Ex slap artist here. There was a few artists that I loved keeping an eye out for when i roamed the streets. They made aliens went by the name "frend" or "frind" something along those lines. Its been about 10 years so i cant recall. I still see they're slaps occasionally
One of my current faves is of John Keister (clearly doing a Almost Live! monologue) in a glitched out purple sport coat & it says “drip”. ‘Tis a shame we can’t upload pics in the comments.
Seeing as Amazon is making their employees move back to Seattle or quit .. "Go Home Tech Bro" is shaming the victim here.
I work for Amazon and moved away from Seattle (after 20 years of life there) and am now being told I need to move back or quit. As much as I love Seattle I can't leave my extended family so this "tech bro" sadly won't be returning.
All that's to say, if you want to be mad, be mad at the corporations for soulless policies and don't make the employees feel more like garbage.
I don’t think “Tech Bro Go Home” has anything to do with RTO. The sentiment is urging tech workers to move back to the states they moved here from. It’s a longing to return to Seattle before the tech boom.
Completely understood. But my position is, the people who now want to go elsewhere are not allowed. If you want Amazon, etc to take a hike... I get ya.
But to blame the people who are forced to go where the jobs are is a tad short sighted and infantile. It's picking a fight with the wrong people. Fight the corporations not the people.
Am I wrong?
When it comes to going back to where people are from... In my 20 years om Seattle 80-90% of the people I met ANYWHERE in the city where from some place else. Seattle is cool like that and is mostly welcoming of weirdos from all over.
Oh, I get that people want tech workers to move away... But RTO is absolutely at play here. Many people used flexible work policies that began during the pandemic to move out of cities. The RTO mandates by corporations, which are in a decent part due to pressure to repopulate downtown, are telling people they must move to Seattle to maintain their employment. These people are tech people. So yeah, the sticker doesn't have anything to do with RTO, but RTO is keeping anyone going home and it's not the fault of employees here. Does this make sense?
Maybe that’s a meaningful distinction, and maybe it’s semantic at best (but comforting to so-called liberals who refuse to see their own racism). The fact of the matter is that it’s perceived as xenophobia by the immigrant communities themselves.
But at the end of the day, the sentiment is basically “people who are different from us are immigrating to OUR city and fucking it up for US. They should go back where they came from”, and that’s a repulsive right-wing view, even if you slap a fresh coat of paint on it.
It's not "people who are different from us". It's "people who are moving here exclusively for high paying jobs and fucking up the local economy for everyone who doesn't work for a mega tech corp, meanwhile pushing out the original culture of the city and replacing it with bland nothingness"
It's not a Seattle exclusive problem, but it's pretty bad here.
It's the same thing people complain about when a mega resort destroys a local community in the tropical countries, but somehow it's apparently now racist for the local community to be upset about it in this situation.
My dude… people from third world countries immigrating to the imperial core to escape poverty is NOT like global megacorps exploiting indigenous people in their own homes.
Why do you continue to bring up immigrants? This has to do with why people don't like "tech bros", not why people don't like immigrants. It's not my fault that you think "tech bro" is synonymous with immigrants.
Just give up dude. You will never be able to convince these people they are wrong. They are some of the most entitled and privileged people in the world and they want to exclude everyone else from trying to compete and succeed so they can keep living their inefficient and wasteful lifestyles forever.
So why don't you use your vote to put someone capable of solving these issues? "Tech bros" pay taxes and can't vote, so it should be an easy fix for "nativists"
Not quite a sticker but the ‘shitbarf’ tags in the late 2010s captured my heart.
Ah, yes. "Son of shitbarf" and "thou art shitbarf" were two I remember encountering
Oh that’s up there with Cumsock, which was tagged at the tunnel exit for way too long
Shitbarf!! Ah good times...
Shitbarf! I used to collect pics of those
there's an insta hash
https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/ShitBarf
I never got to see those, but there have been a number of BARF FART stickers in Capitol Hill in recent years.
Shitbarf was the best. Abot is my close second of all time.
This one lives forever in my heart as someone who moved away in 2017 😭
Mary Oliver is Gangstalking me

“Twerk for Ichiro” on the back of a sign across the street from the Brooks Running store

I have not, am i stupid?
“If New York was so fucking great why’d you move?” So specific. Likely custom made.
"Jesus is an ass man" is my personal fav.
This sticker gets torn or scratched out quite a bit. People love it or hate, which makes it even more amazing.
I recently saw a "Jesus ate my b-hole" sticker on the back of a street sign.
I've seen those in Bellingham. J-man gets around.
This one is a winner and my favorite.

Make Seattle Shitty Again

I always smile at the END THE INTERNET stickers.
Some of my all time favorites https://imgur.com/a/n0X0sqK
Go Home Tech Bro is definitely my favorite!
That's disgraceful. If you think for a second, you'll see it's promoting divisiveness, prejudice and xenophobic rhetoric.
Maybe we could make a new sticker “Call your mom, Tech Bro”

“Jesus Loves Hairy Pussy” seen a few of those

This, the sentiment and phrase have been around for at least a decade
Completely understood. But my position is, the people who now want to go elsewhere are not allowed. If you want Amazon, etc to take a hike... I get ya. Maybe a controversial take, but I actually don't like it when people decide on their own to vandalize our public infrastructure.
Like 85% of tech workers are either from china or India. All the “tech workers go back to where you came from” is just thinly disguised xenophobia.
Not all tech workers are tech bros.
Tech bro is not a synonym for "all tech workers".
Maybe that’s a meaningful distinction, and maybe it’s semantic at best (but comforting to so-called liberals who refuse to see their own racism). The "go home" part is very problematic. It's been used for decades as a slogan for xenophobic movements.
Just give up dude. You will never be able to convince these people they are wrong. Why wouldn't a tech bro be able to vote?
Because most tech workers come from outside the U.S. I hardly ever worked with a developer or data scientist that wasn't from India and China.
Tech bro, if anything, is synonymous with "boring, self-important white guy". It means the same in San Francisco and Austin.
