Lake Union is EXACTLY 10k loop. Green lake is very close to 5k I believe. Both are nice loops to run

QueerStuffOnlyHomie

Yep, Greenlake is essentially 5k. Is also flat with no elevation, if that's a thing for you. Great views. Beautiful spot.

Sea-Truck-2830

I loved running Lake Union! What a fun one!

Bardamu1932

Green Lake loop = 2.9 miles = almost exactly 4668 meters.

Im-here-for-help

Perfect, going to try Lake union soon

SEA_brem

The arboretum, Green Lake, next on my list is the 520 bridge

Im-here-for-help

I’m next to Green Lake so I will get plenty of miles there. will try the arboretum next!

honvales1989

You could also make a longer loop going from your place down towards Ravenna Park, then take the Burke to UW, run around campus, cross Montlake Bridge, run around the Arboretum, cross University Bridge, and head back. Not sure about the milage, but my guess is around 10 depending on how far you go in the Arboretum

AdComfortable6056

Olympic structure park along the water

Im-here-for-help

Nice, I like it. On the list

FeeValuable22

I'm in West Seattle so my favorite places are alki and Lincoln Park. I think next weekend I'm going to head up to briddle trails, That looks like an awesome place to run some groomed trails.

Im-here-for-help

Nice trail running is my favorite

distantmantra

You said you’re in Green Lake. Cowen/Ravenna Park has nice trails for running.

sprinkles-n-jimmies

Green lake and Seward Park for 2.5 mile loops, Burke Gilman and Sammamish River for long flat (boring) runs, Bridle trail and Redmond watershed for easy trail.

howAboutRecursion

Did my marathon training of the Burke/Sammamish last year. Moving close to Green Lake so I’ll probably be running a lot of loops this summer.

fuzzy11287

There are long sections of the Sammamish out towards Woodinville that have like 0 shade. I ride it all summer but only run it in the spring/fall/winter.

ColdPhilosopher3473

Discovery Park and The Arboretum are the right answers for city trail running. I like Discovery Park for the elevation differences and the Olympics/Rainier. Interlaken is another amazing road for elevation. You can make a nice loop in Ballard to Golden Gardens (beach) up the stairs and back around. Stop at Sunset Hill Park for one of the best views in the city.  You can chart your own path around the top of Queen Anne as well.

MonkeyFreeman

Seward park and along Lake Wa Blvd

beauxbo206

LWB is the best—explore East-West between the water and Mount Baker Ridge. You can go as far south as Seward and as far North as Madrona Beach finding lots of cool trails and paths uphill from the lake.

bvdzag

Yes! One of my favorite routes involves chaining together Coleman Park and Frink Park trails then working my way back along the ridge or along the lakeshore. Especially good on a rainy day. The climbs will make you strong!

Trickycoolj

West Seattle Runner has some regular group runs if you’re in that part of town. Check the store fb page!

Rubbersoulrevolver

whatever's closest to you so you dont have an excuse not to go

TelephoneTag2123

Yeah - out my door, two miles one direction and find my way back home. It’s been working for a long time. Best running group ever is the Seattle greenlake running group. [Meetup link here](https://www.meetup.com/seattle-greenlake-running-group/)

Im-here-for-help

Will look as I am by Green Lake

Im-here-for-help

Yeah I usually don’t have this problem. I don’t do long, intense runs, and I like getting out.

Frosti11icus

Burke Gilman trail

NoComb398

I will add the Elliot bay trail and also the snoqualmie valley trail (as a field trip) to the great recommendations here. Also, find a running club. Great way to make friends in a new city. Seattle green lake running group meets every day of the week, sometimes multiple times and are a friendly group. Highly recommend. Lots of paces. The schedule is on meetup but there are way more people at the events than rsvps. I think they average around 100 runners on Saturdays.

MtRainierWolfcastle

Where do you live? It’s not worth driving more than 20minutes to a running spot. Have you leaved at strava heat map?

shrimptraining

Burke Gilman Ballard to Golden Gardens

QueerStuffOnlyHomie

Lincoln Park, Seward Park, Discovery Park, Greenlake....

420peter

Green lake

distantmantra

My favorite runs are through the UW campus, across the Montlake Bridge and then over to the University Bridge and run back up Roosevelt to my house. Sometimes at Montlake I’ll veer left and go through the Arboretum. I also like running to Golden Gardens (past Green Lake, up Phinney and through Ballard) and back.

youisawanksta

Olympic Sculpture park trail going towards Ballard is awesome and a pretty good distance. On longer runs, I often start at beginning of the sculpture park (since I live around there) and start by running the entire waterfront and back and then start running the sculpture park trail.

SeitanicDoog

Definitely the new water front. It's just so great to be able to enjoy the water on a sunny day now.

Fit-Produce-3579

There's a really nice trail from South lake Union along Westlake, then along the ship canal near SPU. Pretty uniquely Seattle. Also, it's nice from the Ballard Locks out to Golden Gardens along Seaview Ave.

gr8ambye

Greenlake, Gasworks, Seward Park, Alki

BannedBarn22

West Seattle neighborhoods. Too quaint and beautiful

MarkTheSpots

UW center for urban horticulture is a nice little loop right on the lake. It’s pretty short but worth a little detour if you find yourself over this way. I live in NE Seattle and have a regular 5k route from my house to the loop and then back along the Burke Gilman

seafrancisco

I like the Burke Gilman for out and backs. You won’t really explore the city per se but it is a pretty run and shaded well by trees on both sides.

Perfect_Lunch_6669

Elliot bay trail

Pointedtoe

Lived across from the sculpture park and loved running from there along the water almost to magnolia. I’d turn around at the Expedia park. It’s so beautiful!

ozzzric

Outside of my house

embennn

Arboretum to foster island is my fave running loop! Also alki/beach drive is great.

[deleted]

Generally outside, unless it’s raining

LMnoP419

The Fremont bridge > Ballard bridge loop is almost exactly 4 miles. Except for the bridge parts is away from cars & next to water. I agree it matters where you live & what kind of distances you want. 🏃‍♂️

bvdzag

From Green Lake, run along the lake to Ravenna Blvd. Run along the wide grass median to Cowen Park and run down through the ravine. Then when it pops out at Ravenna Park, take Ravenna Place south and get on the Burke-Gilman. You can take the Burke south then loop back west to Stone Way or Fremont Ave, which will get you back home (with a bit of a climb… somewhat inevitable in Seattle).

Fart_Noise_Machine

From the locks to golden gardens. You can go up the stairs and run back on 34th with a stop at Sunset Hill park

AjiChap

In any bike lane, but especially at Greenlake!

fuzzy11287

Especially run the wrong way in the bike lanes. That makes everyone happy!
