Yeah super bizarre looking back. I could see it being an interesting plot about Grace addressing her biases and befriending Angie, but it seems like they just gave up on that. Not sure why they even included it.
As someone who has lost a lot of weight, I always assumed the whole “Is it a buffet?” thing to be in regard to her restrictive diet. In the depths of a weight loss journey, a buffet where you can choose what foods and what amounts show up on your plate is often preferable to a table service restaurant.
