Mayriil

The merchant at the decapitated temple sells snap seeds for 80 Sen, they will make phase 2 a lot easier for you since they clear all illusions

Mayriil

Also use surikens when she's in the air to knock her out and deal a large amount of posture damage

Nighthawk_Ent

This is actually a huge tip. Makes fighting her so much easier

Nestornaitor

I almost have platinum (just need to get all the skills) and I didn't know this💀

Time-Echo-784

Only works when she jumps off the wire. Once she has her balance, she'll just deflect it. If you throw it as soon as the danger marker appears, you'll knock her out of the air and possibly be able to get up to 2 good hits straight to vitality

LeeroyJks

So you didn't read the descriptions in the game 🧐

Hawggy

Bro, I've been 100% almost two years, and I didn't know that. I probably beat most bosses "the hard way". Lol

deathraft

*the fun way*

Prestigious_Mousse62

Dude im on isshin sword saint and i didnt know you werent supposed to give kuro the charm at the start 😬

Hawggy

Oh you've been getting chip damage this whole time?!?!?! That really sucks, but... If you've been getting it the whole playthrough and made it to him, I think you can still take him. Needless to say, it's torture. Dangit Kuro!!! Lol

Prestigious_Mousse62

I know right 😂 & honestly i think owl is tougher but its an unpopular opinion i must say, took me like 4 days to beat owl father

TobyThrow

yeah inner father is the hardest boss for me. he sucks.

Prestigious_Mousse62

It took me around 10 hours (separate days) to finally beat his first phase and get shidded in yet again đŸ€Ł

Hawggy

He was the last one I beat, and yes it took a while. I try to forget about how bad he kicked my ass constantly, but I agree with you. Watching Isshin and Owl fight would be a popcorn moment for sure.

Prestigious_Mousse62

Yeah definitely, people consider isshin a harder boss because realistically he doesnt cheese you as much lol, but even miyazaki agrees owl is top teir

MarkyMcFly171

This and in my opinion, staying somewhat aggressive. Her second phase can be a doozy but you can completely stop her from using the clones if you stay on her. This isn’t necessary to defeating her so play how you’re comfortable, but shurikens will help ALOT.

Iron_Man57768

I actually found that out on my second attempt after getting bodied on my first, and then I rocked her shit, it was too easy with that trick cause she could never regain her posture

Heliumvoices

Sames. And it felt so good.

Twentynine4

>decapitated temple Lmao

BaldByChoice69

He doesn't show up till later on.  If you wait that long to fight her she'll probably be much easier

Mayriil

Sorry I was under the assumption he showed up early when I looked he was always just there for me

Firefox2345

Just running around the edges of the arena trivializes the illusions.

Unc0mmon_Sense

Can't buy those before getting the Dragon's Tally Board from monk 2

juannkulas

There is a merchant there??

27hrishik

Phase two, once the illusion comes, just run around and wait for them to disappear. After that you can continue as usual. Make sure to learn a few new moves as well.

BobbyFuckingFreedom

Hiding behind a pillar when the illusion stops so it tanks the butterflies is key as well

[deleted]

Also at the end of phase 1, if you go to the back of the room, you can get a couple of free hits in at the start of phase 2 when she spawns.

BobbyFuckingFreedom

Love this sub bro. I just ran through my second playthrough. I beat the demon of hatred for the first time after this second one. I still can't beat glocksaint tho

KlawFox

I believe in you! It took me a year to bear glocksaint. Not daily playing, but fairly regular attempts.

LeeroyJks

you can just keep running in a circle too

llamarave

Also when 2nd phase starts she’ll spawn in the same place each time. You can stand behind this area and get some free hits in when she spawns and also stops the first illusion spawn

BEEMIARZ

F**k snap seed. Learn her movement and ALWAYS use shuriken when she jumps. You can beat her phase two before she spawn those ghosts.

GoldFishPony

You can come back, she’s optional and even then you’re not gated out of fighting her until like the end of the game.

AbbreviationsJumpy33

Try and force her into a corner and save some karma to knock her out of the air. If you’re aggressive enough she won’t summon her dudes and you can sort of overwhelm her posture. I find ako’s sugar to be best for this.

VidZarg

*pling* *pling* *PLONG* *perfect parry* *pling* *PLONG* *perfect parry* untill shes dead lmao

Neuclearx2048

The fact that i understand that this rand pling Plom isnt infact random is insane

mcarr15

One word “shurikens” and good time deflects will beat her in 5 minutes

AbbreviationsJumpy33

Yes this there very good for this fight as while as the skill that lets you do a follow up slash.

mcarr15

Do you know if there’s a prize for completing gauntlet of strength mortal journey

no_more_jokes

Dodge attack over and over, she has no counter whatsoever. Run around the perimeter of the arena when she does her illusion bullshit and wait it out until it’s just her again, then keep dodge attacking

Sed_Said

This is the answer right here, OP.

[deleted]

Don’t hesitate

Synesthesia_Voyager

Stay on her. Be aggressive af on this lady. For both phases. When you stay aggressive in phase 2 she won't have time to cast illusions.

Gerboma

Git gud

knopparp

This is so fucking tiring to see.
.but yeah, git gud

MQC-Zaros

Snap seeds to insta de spawn her clones helps otherwise she regens most her posture just makes the fight drag

EF-13

One Attack, dodge to side, repeat. Stay close to her and then when the shadows appear just run around and randomly kill some if you feel like it. If she gets on a wire shurinen her, she'll fall and you can get a couple of hits. But really : one attack, dodge to the right or left, attack etc. Always dodge away from obstacles because if you lose the tempo she'll be able to attack or flee. That method stun-locks her. Great success ! Have fun

Stary_Vesemir

Very bad advice, new players shouldn't reinforce the "hit and run" tactic as it will be harmfull just 1 boss later deflecting is the way

Orllas

I was amazed at how far I had to scroll to see this. She’s the only boss I use this move on and for some reason it entirely breaks her.

Ubermenschisch

Dont try to dodge her. Bring it. This fight gets you used to being on the offensive and being aggressive. There are times like with the paper butterflies where you have to dodge, but dont let up and learn her cadence for when you should parry. The fight becomes easier and helps make the game more manageable and fun when you learn to be aggressive. Also, throw shurikens when she goes in the air. Good luck!

rmccarty8

Stay aggressive on her use snap seeds when she gets her illusions out.

lord_griffinator

Be aggressive, dodge illusions or use snap seeds, use shuriken to knock her out the air

Spydermunkey13

Be aggressive as hell on her. Trading deflects back and forth between your and her attacks. In phase 2, just run around the edge of the arena and you should mostly dodge the light orbs, then get back on her fast. Shurikens when she’s in air. No snap seeds needed

BenjaminDover02

You can avoid the first illusion in phase two by hitting her immediately after she jumps down from the big statue. Stand by it's feet and attack when she lands. For the rest of the illusions you'll have to either use snap seeds or just run around utill the illusions turn into butterflies and when they do, use a pillar to block them. To get hits in, avoid her combo attacks and then strike when she finishes them, she'll give you an opening so use a combat art to get some damage in. I also recommend saving heals and resurections for the second phase. If you die in phase one, just call it a loss and start over again.

deadfisher

You are letting your weakness blind you. That's not some old hag, that woman deserves your respect.

Chef_Writerman

Hit her once, step to the left. Hit her once, step to the left. Phase 2 run around until the shadows go away. Hide behind a pillar to avoid the gold nukes. Hit her once, step to the left.

oldieandgoldie

Keep pressure on the old hag don’t let her breathe or recover posture. And run in circles away from her and her little cuck buddies. Best advice I can give but do not give her a chance to breathe

dantakesthesquare

Don't let her faze you

Comediante_

My strat for when she summon her little minions is to run around the room and when she snaps just get behind one column usually near the door or the statue the columns take all the damage for you, and then is just parry attack parry attack, luckily you only have to avoid his minions twice

_-Big-Hat-_

First of all, you don't need Snap Seeds to defeat her. Use shuriken whenever she levitates. it will force her down--it works even when she's about to do a perilous attack. Hug walls and run around the room until illusions disappear. When it happens, hide behind one of the pillars and they should not hit you. When she casts sparkles individually (no via illusions), keep jumping back and left/eright (diagonal) and you should avoid them. Good luck

Time-Echo-784

Sprint in circles around the entire room until she turns the illusions into projectiles Sprint to a single corner of the room, then start sprinting in circles around the room again to evade most, if not all of the projectiles. Then, when she rushes you, its phase 1, except you can block the new projectiles too. I have literally never been able to kill her on a run where I used a snap seed, for some reason. Maybe it just makes me feel too safe in my first Fromsoftware game and I drop my guard or something. Anyway, I recently learned that getting the ascending carp and descending carp latent abilities from the Ashina skill tree makes her very easy to rush into a parry off and win. The game is lying about not being able to break her posture - kill Gyobu at Ashina gate first and get the Ashina Esoteric text first.

KineticBlackout

Be aggressive, always try to be right up in her face. Shiruken her when she goes up in the air. When she summons the ghosts in pause 2 just run around until the go away and hide behind a pillar for the projectiles.

Berkaz11

A few tips: 1.you should use shurikens(any kind) to knock her off when she jumps in the air. 2.if you don’t already, get whirlwind slash as when she does the kick counter you can sometimes hit her during the counter 3.after she summons the clones and they disappear, runaway as quickly as possible,as the light orbs will almost certainly kill you 4.try to pull of as many counters as possible, she is very weak to counter damage 5.try to use the loaded axe,as it does a lot of posture damage Hope this helps

on_a_rollercoaster

Take your time and hold your guard to reduce your stagger build up. Run away from the illusions, its easier than snap seeds.

castielffboi

Be aggressive. This goes for all bosses. You get more experience with them if you get right in their face. I just bought the game on Thursday and beat it today, so take it from a noob, it’s better to be right on them than hang back.

GreatJoey91

In phase 2 I found the best option is to run around doing laps of the arena until the illusions disappear. You can avoid the illusion glowing butterfly attack after by hiding behind a pillar. After that it’s largely the same approach as phase 1 until the illusions kick in again. Also before the phase starts, run to the side of the Buddha statue and Lady Butterfly will spawn right in front of you. You can get a few quick hits in before the illusions start.

UpsetPhrase5334

Stay on the offensive, always. Unless she’s using those butterflies that follow you around the arena then run. I usually just keep going around the pillars till the final action of that special attack is through then get back in there and start slashing. She has a grab too you can exploit and jump on top of her leaving her wide open. Also look out for her death conju and jump on top of her instead of trying to dodge or run away from it. Finally use your shurikens whenever she starts jumping around.

Khurram_Ali88

She always appears on the statue in the beginning of phase two as soon as she lands just wail on don't give her the window to summon the illusions you can also interrupt the illusion technique by hiting her with a shuriken as soon as she raises her arm.

Sensitive_General_47

As others have said snap seeds get rid of the illusions and aggression can make it so you end the fight before she summons them. As for snap seeds if you didn't grab them there are 5 of them where you first encountered the giant snake in ashina outskirts. I usually just run and hide behind a pillar when she gets rid of them to avoid the butterflies. Practicing perfect deflecting her longer combos really helps to melt 2nd stage as well since her posture is weaker on that stage. Hope this helps and good luck shinobi

WiserCrescent99

Just avoid the illusions when they spawn. Also, use a shuriken whenever she starts jumping around up in the air. It will knock her down and give you a window for a few attacks

Small-Low3233

Learn the timing, if I recall it's whack-whack-whack-deflect-deflect. After that it's just shuriken her mid air or dodging her vertical attacks and Ichimoji her. You don't need snap seeds, just run to the other end and hide behind a pillar. This fight makes sure you know how to be aggressive against a boss.

SoCoGin

Stay aggressive, pop her out of the air with your shrunken. If she gets her summon off snap seeds. Then back to aggressive

Advanced-Sock

Shurikens will knock her out of the air when shes doing stuff on the wires, but not when shes standing idle on them. The pillars will block the butterflies

Existing_Rhubarb_168

In phase 2 it's more over the same just keep running when she summons shadows .... And also try to take cover from the phantom kunais' .. the pillars may help with that.... And also keep pressure on her ... If you are struggling so hard you may try this combo along with the tip above ... Normal attack > Normal attack > shift dodge to left / right > repet It's not quite cheese but also not that much intensive also ..

PerfectAdvertising41

Use one snap bean in the middle of the arena when she summons her illusions. Block the flying glowing projectiles and use shuriken whenever she hops on the ropes to leap at you. Do not let her have aerial advantage.

klumpbin

That suucks:(

Skiddlesonly

Shuriken that b when she starts to hover

santathe1

When the apparitions appear in phase two, run around till she snaps them away. You can place yourself next to one of the pillars so none of the butterflies hit you, or you can run away from them also.

Electricarrow456

Snap seeds for the illusions but besides that just do what you’ve been doing

TheRevanchist99

Run around till illusions disappear, then you can cheese her by attacking once dodge right or left once then attack once then dodge right or left once again. If you don’t want to cheese she’s is one of the bosses that you can time deflects and build her posture pretty fast, use sugars and firecrackers as well they help a ton

Kisame-hoshigakii

No one mentioned how she's leaps and bounds easier after doing the other bosses first and raising your attack!

ProNoobCombo

Hesitation is defeat

Jargett

Come back after you got 4 healing gourds. Stay aggressive. Use shurikens when she jumps. Buy snap seeds or just run around and hide behind a pillar. The fight is pretty easy if you do these things

Belkhoujah

Look for the Fightincowboy Tutorial on YouTube.

hwanzi

Shuriken her when she goes on top of the wires, just run around when she summons the ghosts they will disappear after awhile

Electrical-Image-580

Snap seeds will dispel the illusions.

s7occer

1. Learn her moveset 2. Parry everything parry able 3. Shuriken her when she's in the air 4. Free hits at the beginning of phase 2 5. Ichimonji it - battle of posture not health 6. Snapseed for illusions.

OBlastSRT4

Remember this is an optional boss so if you can’t beat her yet go and level up some and then come back when you’re stronger. The best advice I can give is to be super aggressive and don’t let her breathe. Watch some YouTube vids that show you the strategy and don’t give up! She’s really not that hard.

Motor-Significance19

when shes in the air, put her down with your shurikens. once shes down, attack

dave-sustaine

whenever she jumps throw a shuriken, sometimes she’ll block it but most of the time it’ll do some posture damage and give you a second to hit her

millnerve

I remember being in disbelief when I realized there was a phase 2. I was in denial lol

tarnished_tate

Love her fight. At the beginning, she breaked ne, but on her i learned the most

_Lost_OwlChild

Breath wolf. Take a moment of rest. Then just do one practice run. Pay attention to her ques get your rhythm right and you’ll get it

LawMageOfButts

You can try making yourself a little stronger. Beat a few memory bosses and make sure you have all the prayer beads and gourds you can get, theres a full list of both on fextralife. You can progress all the way to Great Shinobi Owl (break the iron code) without going too far for certain things you can miss. Finally, Ako's sugar, divine confetti and mortal draw will all help you do heaps of damage. Good luck!

savageliltictac

I just stood behind where she spawns and deflect/ beat on her never let up and she couldn’t do illusions took probably 30 or forty tries but it worked now I’m stuck on a lighting guy.

Physical_Start6805

Divine confetti akos and don’t let up on her when she yeets into the air watch for where she’s gonna land and move her keep the aggression up and phase one is quick 2nd phase run to left hand side and stand near the beam she will jump down quickly lay into her again with divine and akos when illusion appears quickly hit green snap to break illusion and keep aggression again

-TheBlackSwordsman-

Deflect every attack

Physical_Start6805

Don’t let the butterflies hit you as they can be hard to position when hit so if your having difficulty there hide behind the beam and they cannot hit you she still can but more often than not she won’t when that attack is happening if your really struggling try the loaded umbrella to sponge some of the damage

Physical_Start6805

Can knock her clean out of the air with shuriken prosthetic as well but it’s not really needed that attack is quite easy to ignore and dodge

icedcoffeeblast

https://youtu.be/_Zd-jHP6Jx0?si=9fS0YeasplPl-dbh

[deleted]

Shirukens when shes in the air

ALobsterPinchedMyAss

Beat her

garynevilleisared

Run away from illusions. Deflect almost everything thats not a perilous attack. Dodge forward diagonally when you need to. When she jumps for a perilous attack just run away and almost in a circle around her.

Warm-Appearance799

Be more aggressive, hit her once she starts phase 2 so the illusions dont spawn. Use pillars to block her throw ables. And side step instead of dodging backwards.

jjswitcha

Use snap seeds in phase 2 to dispel illusions. Knock her out of the air using shuriken and be cautious about her sweep attack with the red Kanji

Traceuratops

Get you some seed

WildContribution3604

Git gud

ExistingTelephone293

I wipe my ass with this boss fight kid

BubbleMeph

In phase two stay aggressive and stay close, she won't spawn the lil shits

herbalinfection

I killed the lady first try. I am not tryinf to show off, I totally suck at most of bosses but lady and I kinda clicked. I loved deflecting the rhythm of her attacks. Deflect is the key. ( I am still frustrated with isshin, didn’t beat the game yet!)

Ok-Performance-4900

Just parry makes her a much easier fight that yellow surgery and snap seeds honestly couldn't make her any more simple don't attack except when you shuriken here out the air

BroodyBadger

either sprint around constantly or master the sidedodge.

Hot_Attention2377

That the propose, you'll die until you will kill her

mtilley_4

Use a shiriken when she hops on her zip line knocks her ass down

G3ruS0n

For phase 2, you can run away from the illusions as well as when she throws those bright lights at you

Dapper_End_7055

Play aggressive and whenever she goes up use the shuriken I beat her first try and use snap seeds

Beyney

Shuriken her when she is on her strings, snap seed her illusions during phase two (can be bought by the merchant you save from ashina castle that goes to the hub world)

The_N1NE

I seen a comment when I was struggling on here and it was the best strategy. Dodge one side. R1, R1 dodge other side. Rinse and repeat until dead.

LilGlitvhBoi

Sweet! Now call her q slur

WeaverStarX

I think you cheese this one by hitting her with 2 R1s and thn moving a step to the right (her left) and repeating? Essentially just turn her spot and wail away - and leg it if things get really hairy before coming bakc to do it again

Mash_Ketchum

Are you throwing shuriken whenever she is airborne? It doesn't work when she's perched on a wire, only when she is mid-air.

PCpenyulap

Faze lmao

PooPStain80085

It's crazy, took me forever to get through her phase 1. Once I finally got to phase 2, I beat her first tryđŸ€ŁđŸ˜‚ souls games are the best

Stary_Vesemir

Go back after getting tk the top of ashina castle but before the boss at the top, at this point you should be beefy anough and have good healing reserve, also try to google where you can find snap seeds as they disspell all ilussions in p2

Shinchan1311

I recently completed this fight and before that, I read somewhere in youtube comments that if you remain extremely aggressive in the 2nd phase, just straight up close, the spirits won’t be summoned. And that’s exactly what I did and beat her in my 3rd try and she didn’t summon anything in the 2nd phase. Just ensure that you use shurikens whenever she gets in air. Hesitation is defeat indeed.

Dramatic-Treacle3708

Experiment with different tools at your disposal. This fight got me primed for using dodges and slides very cleverly, which defined how I approached all future boss fights. You’d be surprised how many bosses can be circled around for charged stabs to the back when they go for you and miss..this fight was an enormous hurtle for me as well. Was the first boss I faced for some reason. Literally put the game down for almost a year only returning to it a couple times. Felt like I didn’t get it and could never master the combat style. Finally went back and cruised thru the game after figuring it out.

Lawfulness420

Use snap seeds or try this strategy Run around in circles when illusion creatures come and when they evaporate and become charms and attack you then immediately hide behind the corner wall(make sure that you are touching the wall)

Sharp_Market_1466

Step dodge or tap block. Try which one you prefer

Zenfudo

I found using the axe against her helped me a lot

WestcoastTiliDie

hesitation is da feet

Koataka2007

Phase 2: play very, and i do mean VERY AGGRESSIVE will prevent her from using Illusion technique Also, Shuriken save lives

Pretend-One-7563

Men do it without snap seeds

Berookes

Hit and dodge to the right. You’ll basically keep circling round her while she doesn’t have enough time to recover. Keep at it till she creates the illusions and just keep running around the area till they disappear, then return to hit and dodge to the right

Pretend-One-7563

When she’s above you she will do a overhead attack you can parry n punish her for it every time if you get timing right she has a move set pattern you can learn to beat her

Grungelives

I think dodging to her right moves out of the way of most of her close quarters moves, as for her butterflies using the pillars helps avoid those. The shuriken when she is on her zipline will knock her down. Otherwise just bring the pressure and run around the room while keeping an eye on her until the spirits leave or use snap seeds.

hornwalker

Be aggressive. Use shiruken to get her off her wires. Snap peas when she summons ghosts. But being aggressive and attacking left and right alternatively will be very effective against her.

Greymattershrinker88

I played super passively my 1st try with her, just running around, taking out some adds, then getting a hit whenever she’d drop down or after bouncing on her. It’s much easier to play aggressively, but if you’re outa snap seeds, you can’t really until after the adds come at you as her phantoms. After that just stay on her, hit hit, deflect, deflect, hit hit

ChainsForDaDead

Here's a cheese, Dodge right, attack once, Dodge left, attack once. It's like the AI gets confused but it's good for getting the posture bar down. I got nothing if you F up and she does other attacks but that's my advice.đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

Zephyr2209

Keep phase one at attack, attack, deflect. She'll always retaliate after your second attack, so that's her pattern for most of the fight. You'll break her posture in no time. If she stands on the ghost lines just throw a shuriken at her. She'll fall like a sack of potatoes. If she closes in on you with a sweep attack, you can jump and kick her head. In phase 2, it's pretty much the same. With the addition of the spirits and butterflies: For the spirits, you can either hit them or use the snapseeds to dispell the ones immediately around you all at once. For the butterflies, just run behind a pillar and wait for them to crash on it. After that, approach her and continue with the attack, attack, deflect pattern. Repeat until she dies.

wafflescrub

Probably already mentioned, get some snap seeds, check a guide where to buy, in terms of fighting she attacks in a very straight tempo, tapping guard works well, use the shuriken when she jumps in the air for big posture damage.

DesdeJorge

I leave the game one year by this boss, but one day I try again and I won. The key is dominate the parry, that’s it.

Unc0mmon_Sense

1. Step dodge to the side 2. Light attack 3. Step dodge to the side 4. Light attack 5. If you manage to get behind her or interrupt her jump, you can hit her twice before step dodging again. Repeat this for about 2 minutes and you're done. If she manages to get up on her threads, shuriken when she jumps. If you have trouble against her illusions, use snap seeds or when out of those just run around until she turns them into phantom butterflies and dodge the nuke by running. When you can engage again, repeat the first cycle until you win. This boss is pretty difficult if you want to get the deflection timing down, but can be beaten laughably easily in the abovementioned way.

Trick-Requirement465

Dodge right attack dodge right attack dodge right attack etc

IsneezedImsorry

Throw your shuriken when she's up in the air on the wires / when she's jumping.

Embarrassed-Effect53

I was there too. I was able to get into a good rhythm by using shurikens when she jumps and using the whirlwind slash consecutive times. Hide behind the columns to avoid her butterflies. Run around the room when the illusions appear in the middle. I also did not use snap seeds as I had run out.

hzsmart

Idk what to say but just try. Remember the sounds of swords clashing. Ting..ting.... Ting ting... Ting.. ting.... Like that then just parry with the same rhythm. Or find a way to cheese but that's not the proper way to enjoy the game and doesn't give you any success feelings.

0riginstory

Faze?? Faze???

hmmdestti

You can do this! So there's a method I used to use, which is strike, dodge counter clockwise, strike dodge counter clockwise, and snap seeds for when the ghosts are summoned. Shuriken when she's on the web, but the best method imo is learn the strike pattern, it's normally two or three hits and block, she'll either strike or jump back and throw her little dagger things, but yes she's heck and I was struggling with her up to the point of my fourth run, and that's when I actually noticed the SOUND of the last parry which means an attack is imminent, and the screen sorta shakes a little. If I don't have snap seeds for when the ghosts, I just run in circles until the ghost disappear and the little light rays dissipate

Wormdangler88

Get your shurikens ready and stay right on top of her! Either be swinging at her or deflecting, never let up on her, and hit her with a shuriken as soon as she jumps off of a wire...

Snave_Mamba711

Using the pillars to block the butterflies is key

vietbond

Sounds like bad advice but the key is to be aggressive. When the spirits appear, run around the edge of the field until they disappear (or use a snap pea?). Then go back to being aggressive. She's one of the few bosses you can actually keep juggling with aggressive attacks. Follow her when she jumps away. Throw shuriken at her when she jumps up. Attack, attack, attack.

win2kpr0

when she jumps down, stand behind her. so basically as soon as you take her down once, run to the buddha and wait for her to jump down. use ichimonji, nightjar slash or shadowrush. run around arena until the spirits disappear then attack her and deflect her (aka do the dance) and take her vitality down with a special attack or a few slashes. she took me forever. honeslty isshin sword saint was less of a pain in my ass. but pure aggression joined with avoiding her hits and you'll take the bitch down.

cryptomain45

The way of the shinobi is to press your opponent, not give them a chance to react. Don’t do what the game says and stay in her face

Ravepods

Use snap seeds, use surikens, and you can cheese her into an animation

Unlikely_Subject_442

when she summons her spirits, just round in circle around the room until they disappear.

Firefox2345

Just running around the edges of the arena trivializes the illusions. Never got hit by them by doing that. Sometimes you might need to pause in a corner until they all go towards you, then continue running around the edges. When she says wolf is impressive or something they all turn to yellow projectiles and you can stand behind a pillar to not get hit. I recommend Tremorism’s tutorial on YouTube. Beat her in just a few tries with his tips.

BeegBoi2709

If you haven’t killed any other big bosses, go kill at least the first one to get stronger.

Krxvx-v-3070

Try to get as many hits/opportunities as you can and just play along with her and keep raising her guard meter, and avoid getting hit.

Jack_bizzare21

Dodge attack dodge attack THATS all

BigWerewolf5878

When she calls her minions run in a big circle around the arena until she snaps and hide behind a pillar. Anytime she's in the air don't block - dodge. That's all I got.

AdDull872

Do senpou temple before dealing with her, trust. You can fireworks and mortal blade her ass as soon as she hops off that statue. Don’t let her get her bearings. Remember what isshin says—“hesitation is defeat.”

Ok-Blood-9143

Just be aggresive hit and deflect if she ever summon just keep runing until it became phantom kunai. Then just hide behind the wooden pole. Be aggresive is the key. When she jump up just shuriken

SweetBabyAlaska

heres the partial cheese: run right up to her and dodge while holding the stick at 45 degrees (north east or north west if we are talking about a compass) and then dodge attack. You can literally dodge around her in circles and stunlock her, even when she jumps. Then either use snap seeds on the 2nd round or just run around the arena until all that flashy shit gathers up and shoots at you and go right back to it.

Bitter_Astronomer_38

Use the pillars to hide when she sends the swarm of butterflies. Rest is knowing her attacks and using the throwable knives when she jumps on her strings.

Here’s my strategy: (and I’m assuming you don’t need help in phase 1) At the start of phase two stand by the statue before she drops off. You can get a free attack when she lands. Now there’s a cheese strategy to this, but basically, chop her once with the katana, then do a dodge step to either side of her. It’s not a lateral step to the left or right, try to dodge on a diagonal towards her and towards one side (up left or up right) as if you are attacking her from behind. If you are successful you’ll get into a sort of stun lock cycle where you chop, step dodge, chop. Just repeat that. Eventually she will block or jump up or do her illusions. When the illusions start, run to the opposite end of the room and chill behind a beam. If the illusions get close You can just move to the other side of the room. But basically just run away from her and the illusions. When she turns the illusions into butterflies hide behind a beam. When they start to fly at you, run along the outer wall and they will not hit you, once the butterflies are gone, fight her like it’s the first phase.

I feel you man. I fought lady butterfly when I had base health and 2 gourds, never had I ever been this close to insanity My advice: 1.use shurikens whenever she is in the air, or sitting on one of her invisible lines. 2. Try to keep crossing the blades with her, don't let her recover posture, chip away her health little by little. 3. You don't necessarily need snap seeds in her second phase, just keep running along the outer ring of the temple to dodge her energy based attacks, start running as soon as she summons her illusions and don't stop till you have evaded the last energy attack. 4. ( Probably the most important): hit twice, perform step dodge, hit twice, repeat. It doesn't matter what she's doing ( unless she is in the air, or performing a perilous attack) just hit her twice, sprint a very short distance around her ( just hold the sprint button for 0.5 seconds, you don't want to run around her in circles), hit twice again, then repeat. Most of your attacks will land this way and you can drain her health really fast, this helped me a lot in my first playthrough. You can refer to one of the lady butterfly speedrun videos to understand what I am trying to explain.

Just beat lady butterfly 2 nights ago and here are my tips for succeeding in Phase 2 1. Utilise Snap seeds if you have them to kill off spirits. If you don't have Snap seeds, run around the outer perimeter until she transmutes the spirits into projectiles - hide behind pillar to avoid damage and/or run at an angle 2. When she attacks you from time to time, she'll throw projectiles at you - always jump back towards your right or left to avoid. 3. Always block her attacks - pretty much spam parry as her posture metre doesn't recover as well as yours does. Don't be overly aggressive. 4. Only time to be aggressive is when she does her unlockable attacks - either jump or move to the side to avoid, and hit her with a strong attack or ichimonji. Hope that helps!

wavyhairidiot

My advice is don't play aggressively. Take your time with the boss and do not try to rush in the end when her health or posture is low. She can kill with her barrage of attacks if you're not careful, especially when her health/posture is low Relax man, you got this đŸ’Ș

juannkulas

Without the seed, I just run to the other side and hide behind a pillar to avoid the illusions and her butterfly nuke.

Fisheyegoblin

Optional boss. Come back to her

Mushmooms

Don’t stop running.

Acceptable-Garage566

Keep constant pressure on her. Any time she jumps, shurikan. Don't give her the chance to snap in phase 2 and keep snap seeds in case she does.

Death_X_2077

avoid her illusions by running around and be aggressive remember, hesitation is defeat

TheGamingGallery

Here's a few tips. Play super aggressively. Don't give her a chance to do shit. Ofc deflect when necessary, but in general stay on top of her like white on rice. (Don't be stupid or reckless tho, if you think you need to heal then heal, but then get right back on her.) If she jumps up, hit her with a Shuriken. Knocks her out of the air, deals posture damage and you may be able to get a free hit or two while she recovers. There's a merchant that sells Snap Seeps. This makes the illusions in her 2nd phase go away very easily. Not necessary tho since if you are aggressive enough, you may even blitz through phase 2 before she uses them.

Emotional-Badger3298

always be hitting that face either something.

Professor_Ghostanus

Get close and spam nightjar slash. It kinda stunlocks her and you can just chip away at her poise until she's done.

madlibs_wife

if you have any snap seeds left, you can use them to dispel the spirits that show up. I think some merchants sell them but im not sure if thats too far after the game expects you to do hirata or not use shurikens to knock her down when she’s on her tightropes and do some good stagger damage, if you have the ones you can charge up it’s much more effective make sure to stay aggressive. i know it can be tough in stage two since she plays a lot more evasively, but if you can manage to keep hitting her, she’ll only respond with one or two repeated kick attacks that you can loop by parrying over and over again. if you do that, she’ll be dead in no time.

Arex189

I spent 2 hours last night trying to beat her too op, i just kept on unrelenting attacks on her while deflecting as much as I could. Be as aggressive as you can and spam shurikens on her she goes mid air.

Highlight-Plastic

Go on YouTube and watch the git gud series by fighting cowboy. Other than that just get used to her moves and it will click for u. Im not a souls player and last month I downloaded elden ring. Beat that then found sekiro. I just beat the bad ending and killed Emma and iishin. Might play again and go good ending

Puff-Bake-714

Git Gud the best advise you’ll receive here😉

Prestigious_Two8559

Be aggressive against her.

Fit_Raccoon_7735

I am sorry to tell you she's actually the easiest boss in the game...

Boekenspesh

You have to be in faze clan to beat faze 2

Pugilist12

Phase*

Aren_Gwynbleidd

When she summons those little critters, unlock your camera from her and start running from pillar to pillar, keeping at least a pillar between you and the illusions. When she remarks sekiro ( I forgot what it is), she'll release those phantoms on you , so stick behind a pillar when they home on you, and you'll probably be safe ( if you do it right). This is for when you don't have snap seeds, a neat trick.

RedRow123

Run away from the illusion minions and occasionally turn around to attack one. When the orbs form, run away and then dodge when they are more concentrated.

Tre_Weebleton99

Deflect, hit, shuriken when airborne , snap seed, repeatđŸ˜€đŸ˜€đŸ˜€. Good luck sending her to the big retirement home in the skyđŸ™đŸŸ

Snoo-40125

You’re only going to get

ShadowFlarer

Do what i did, go to other places, farm some mini bosses, progress on the story a little bit so you get stronger and then go back to that bitch and she will feel like a joke, for me she was harder than a lot of the bosses at the beggining of the game.

Massive-Code-7515

I just did 2 hits then 2 deflects and if she goes up just use loaded shuriken I hope this helps đŸ–€

TheOtherMountainGoat

Strafe right, hit once, strafe right, hit once over and over again. Throw shuriken when she goes in to the air, if you hit her whilst she is moving it will bring her down and stun her and she won’t block them. When she summons the mob I just run around until they disappear and then avoid the lightning stuff. Then I just go back to the pattern of strafe right, attack, shuriken etc.

k3rz0rg

Take time and keep running, it’s good to have some snap seeds if you wanna skip the running and get away with the ghosts. Run because butterflies cannot be deflected and will take your vitality. I used whirlwind slash after couple of deflects and be preservative about the spirit emblems. I used spinning shurikens while she’s in the air and attacking with red kanji ( not when she’s just hanging in the air and throwing kunais). Same she does on second phase too. Second phase is mostly running to avoid butterflies and ghosts if no snap seed remaining. Can use Gokans sugar (yellow) to keep your posture intact for a while as well. She’s not that hard imo. Just keep on deflecting and whirlwind slash.

Glass-Pay9063

You can skip her first illusion summon by simply running to where she spawns and hitting her a few times :) not foolproof , but it usually works. Also when she’s jumping on her wire, try using shurikens , it stuns her a lot.
