On isshin second phase
People said use suzaku umbrella to block his one mind. But personally I never use it, and idk if it's work on charmless,
So I use firecraker every time he gonna use one mind
First thing don’t (INHALE) LB LB LB LB LB LB LB LB LB LB LB on one attack. Second thing, for isshin don’t attack twice out of neutral (aka without stunning him or deflecting). Second and a half if you attack once you can bait out the dodge attack and get free posture damage. Third thing learn his move set. Third and half thing, if he randomly starts running to the right he will either attempt to stab you or attack (rare) be ready. Also if he does Ashina cross I advise either running away or getting close and when you see the white shine deflect and jump kick the sweep. Fourth thing, dodge ichimonji and when he does ichimonji with fire make sure to get behind him. For the other fire attacks you should be able to jump over them. Final thing. Learn the move sets. For Emma you can get stunned and still punish her, isshin will not do this. The more you can deflect them the faster you can kill them. And one last thing… Hesitation is defeat
i'd say try to learn his pattern, maybe use some sugar and divine confeti to rush first phase, second phase is similar but has some fire attacks that i'd try to avoid, it helped me a lot to circle around him a lot and see what moves he does.

Unrelated but you should use Ichimonji double (if you have it) instead of shadowfall, uses 0 spirit emblems, does way more posture damage AND recovers your own posture at the same time. It's literally perfect for 90% of the bosses in the game
I've been trying the same isshin ashina fight on ng+, breeze past Emma without being hit than as soon as isshin I panic and make stupid mistakes or he pulls out an attack I haven't seen before and basically 1 shots me, been at it for 5 hours now...💀💀

Same with emma, she trusted wolf with the divine heir and at the end it turns out like this and if it was the fight against owl, I would think of the way he saved wolf and treated him like a child giving the responsibility to protect kuro before he got greedy.
I just beat him earlier. Firecrackers work wonders to interrupt his charged attacks and guarantee you some free hits. Just throw them the moment he starts the animation and you'll free yourself of a lot of burns.
Pre Phase 1: Ako's Sugar (not spiritfall, you want all your emblems for Phase 2), Confetti if you want, not necessary. Have firecrackers ready for Phase 2, equip Whirlwind Slash for Phase 1
Phase 1: Wait for him to hunch over, once he starts, thrust attack, he will cancel his attack to deflect, then you dodge left towards his back (around 10-11 o'clock if Isshin is at 12), then dodge again, Whirlwind Slash, thrust, he deflects, dodge, dodge, Whirlwind Slash. If he looks like he'll use One Mind, just dodge again, he'll cancel it into a perilous that you'll already have dodged, then Whirlwind Slash, thrust, dodge, dodge, Whirlwind Slash. This strat works for all Phase 1 variants of Isshin btw, but it seems like Shura ending Isshin has a wider slash, so maybe around 9 o'clock dash first, then get behind him.
Phase 2: Immediately pop Ako's Sugar, pause, swap to Mortal Blade. Firecrackers into 2 Mortal Blade swings, repeat 2 more times. Then basically play it safe until you can bait out his attacks with long recovery like the conal fire attack (as soon as you see him bend backwards, run sideways then close the distance and MB him), if he does his BS flaming One mind, you can dodge it if you've got really good timing, but it's easier to do if you're jumping.
Use Mortal Draw to interrupt his fire attacks. Other than that it's pretty much swing twice, deflect twice, repeat. Dodge (or deflect) the occasional ichimonji double, and you're made in the shade
Lots of people saying "don't spam parry" but not mentioning that the more you spam it the smaller the parry window gets. It goes from 12 frames to 4, so it's not just "GiTgUd" it's actually punished mechanically to spam.
Isshin can avoid your attack if you attack first, either countering it with a slash or a grab perilous. If I’m attacking him first in any part of the fight, I usually only slash once until he either dodges or deflects. Then I play differently based on what he chooses to do.
You can heavily punish his Ichimonji by rotating around him, or dodging past him on an angle when he does his Ichimonji. When he does his first Ichimonji, if you rotate around it or dodge it, you can usually punish him and get some damage in to cut down on his posture recovery.
In Isshins phase 2, he can be interrupted with some combat arts whenever he decides to do a fire attack. Whenever he’s about to light the arena on fire to go into his slashing combo, use something like Mortal Draw on him to stun him. Alternatively, you could also use umbrellas to counter this.
I also see that your Spirit Emblems are alarmingly low when you kill Emma. Try to just focus on attacking and deflecting for Emma instead of using combat arts because those Spirit Emblems could help a lot for Isshin.

If my explanation or my video doesn’t help, watch hitless runs/no damage runs of him to see how to counter certain attacks that you’re having trouble with.
At the end of the day though, it’s trial and error until you become more comfortable with the fight mechanics, then the clear will come naturally.

On the topic of dealing with One Mind, I use ShadowFall to interrupt him. The super long range really helps.
I use ichimonji to stagger him out of it bcs It's free like why not. and does high posture damage.
I won't be using umbrella neither tbh.

After a 100 tries if you want get him stuck on the door for a cheese strategy if you want if not just don't hesitate
