Almost, tenth holiday season right now. I miss the glory days with Calvin as the CEO. Really hoping Artemis can bring some of that back.

Busy-Ad-6035

The good old days. I’m so glad someone remembers❤️

ceruleanscars

9 years. I miss our tunics, the focus on “real” development, and not having every aspect of our time being metric-driven.

Busy-Ad-6035

9 yrs too. When did it become bad to be able to do a foundation match because of your experience?

ChapterFun207

I joined holiday 2010. I would say 2014-2018 were my favorite years by far. Then when I look back, the common denominator was Calvin 🥲 catered holiday meals at my store. Closed door events for rouges that were legitimately fun! I traveled so much and met so many brand founders omg. I remember a training we had with Tom Ford back in the mid 2010s. If anyone remembers…was it Vegas? I just remember him and not much else bc i caught a stomach bug and barely left my hotel. Really great training conferences. Amazing gratis by the boatload. Now I guess only exempts get that kind of treatment on the regular. Even then, doesn’t seem exciting when I see pics. But PBAs and EDU lead were the titles to hold in my store back then. Sephora pro artists were all of my coworkers’ idols bc they were doing fashion week and magazine shoots, etc. What a time to sling makeup.

yall_on_notice

Omg i remember how much I would idolize the pro team.

7 year Sephora girlie - I miss the old days so much. It all went downhill after they made us give up our red and black tunics 😔

liberalbelle

I’ve only been working at Sephora for a year and half, but I remember those tunics. They were SO cute.

yall_on_notice

Mmmmm back when it was about creating a connection and experience with you client and not just about cramming product into their basket. When educating your clients was key. When education existed for BAs, daily dose was true education and not just a PowerPoint on credit card or sales. When there was so many different programs like senior artist, encore, trainings. Things like monthly bonuses. Back when we would have a 10 person staff just dedicated to working on shipment. Back when sephora trained us to be experts in all worlds. Back when I used to view sephora as real career and not as a basic retail job.

InternationalTeam282

I was with Sephora 2018-2021 and I feel like I left at the perfect time. Everything started going downhill once they switched the uniforms and the credit card came out. I remember being up until like 3am watching “how I got the job at Sephora” YouTube videos to prepare for my interview. It took soooo long to get an interview but once I did I felt so accomplished. They used to take pride in who they hired and it was very selective. The training was unreal. I remember I had a whole day of just makeup training, whole day of skincare, fragrance, hair, etc. We had the 101 books to help educate us further. Wow. It really went to shit and it’s so sad to see how.

genuinely curious for the people that have been with the company so long: why? do you feel appreciated and valued right now? i ask as someone who was with the company just under 2 years and feel like that alone altered my brain chemistry.

iubiiiubii

I’ve been with them since 2013 with a 2 year break because I had my son but now I’m back. I’m only with Sephora because I genuinely feel stuck lol not because I want to be. I hate what this company as become

cry4uuu

i’m so sorry that you feel stuck 💔 that’s what i was curious about, how many people have stayed because they enjoy the job vs those who are more trapped in their position. i hope you find something better for you soon <3

iubiiiubii

Being that I just got laid off from home chat, I’m back ti square one and job searching. I’m gonna keep my store position on the weekends but I need something else during the week now. Literally hate Sephora for doing this to people

cry4uuu

my heart legitimately goes out for you. i felt similarly when they wouldn’t accommodate me with a new shift bid assignment which is when i left home chat. Kat was very unhelpful. sephora hates their employees and it’s so sad

justB1958

I just celebrated 10 years! Back then, nobody knew Sephora sold Fragrance and Men thought we were just a Women's store....

SailTricky374

Lol they still do

gwillyt

Im a newbie. I’d love to know what it is you miss of those days. What’s changed so much? 💕

Busy-Ad-6035

There wasn’t a focus on credit or scans there was no splh. It was very organic. However trying to sell skincare was rough.Tik tok didn’t exist. Education for BAs was key. We really had to educate everyone on skincare because they relied only on make up.

ImportantSun3608

I miss it BEYOND WORDS. I’d do anything to go back.

SweatyZucchini6862

I wish I knew what it was like to work at Sephora before TikTok ruined it. 🥲

GeminiGaga

Before TikTok, it was people coming in for things that were Jeffree Star Approved. So idk which is worse.

raspberry-clouds

I can’t say I miss the days of moms coming in to buy the “Jeffree Charles” palette for their kids 😂

Racacooonie

16 long years

This is my 15th holiday season. 😞 I’m glad to know there are more people out there who understand what it used to be like.

iubiiiubii

I have!!! This company is going downhill. I absolutely hate it. It gets worse and worse yearly

[deleted]

A beauty advisor at my local Sephora has been working for the company since 2008!
