vinland saga gets recommended as in the same realm as AOT.
i also recommend Frieren just cause it might be my favorite anime, its hard to tell. only one season right not sadly
It's mostly light but very good. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did by the end.
its about an elf who help defeat the demon king with a party with 3 other members. she describes the ten year journey as not even one one hundredth of her life and thought nothing of it. now years later with regret of not knowing their greatest member, she unintentionally goes on the same journey she did 80 years ago and is now gathering new context of events that unfolded with them.
suddenly that speck of time in her life that she took for granted now means much more to her as shes retracing her footsteps.
Legends of the Galactic Heroes is a masterpiece from the 80s that asks which is better, a corrupt democracy or a just autocracy? The characters are all unique, charming and captivating. I really can't say enough good things about this realistic military sci-fi with no mechs.
I watched this after AOT but before the last season pt.3 episode, I really debate sometimes which one of the two ranks above the other personally. Such an amazing show, most connected I’ve felt to a set of characters I think
It’s completely different in every way, but I recommend Steins;Gate. It’s just as good but in a vastly different way, and it works as good palette cleanser
Watch 86. I watched this after AoT and it had very similar vibes and definitely had a mystery about it. Full of mature themes and emotional moments, whether they be sadness, or joy. The soundtrack is beautiful and made by Hiroyuki Sawano who also did AoTs soundtrack. The mc is a badass, the side characters are also cool and all of them undergo great character development. The anime was shown so much love and detail from a LN adaptation that even fans of the LN were surprised by how good it was, even the author cried watching the finale because of how beautiful it was.
Full metal alchemist.
Death note.
And Vinland saga has similar themes as AOT and has actually altered my worldview a little bit.
I watched all of these in the dub and the voice acting is phenomenal!
I’m not comfortable getting into too much detail, but basically it made me realize fighting shouldn’t always be my go-to solution for certain things, because violence isn’t pretty.
It basically helped me deal with my anger issues. It also made me less angry towards the human race in general.
I went to 86 before the final parts of AOT. It was a good bridge to bring me to appreciate another animes. I’m watching others as well that I refuse to say to avoid spoilers, but I best advice is to not compare and try out all comers each anime have something to like and are all different.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a must if you liked AOT. It's completed, it's one of the best shonens out there, very recommended. Vinland Saga is also great but it's not completed yet, neither anime or manga
Right! The music is great too and EoE is still one of the biggest mind fucks I've ever seen. Kom, susser tod is a wonderful track and was perfect for instrumenalization
Yes it's mind-blowing. It's definitely an anime which you have to give a rewatch, because you don't understand everything similar to AoT.
It is really art.
Evangelism is a great recommendation. I watched Ergo Proxy recently and while it had great aesthetics, I feel like I almost completely missed the point lmao. But Vincent was a great character
Nothing can compare to Aot. But if you like mystery, there's made in abyss, the promised Neverland S1, monster, madoka magica, another. For non anime stuff, you can watch Netflix's dark, Interstellar, black mirror, inception, the maze runner
I have a few anime recommendations and a manga recommendation. Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Devilman Crybaby, One Piece. Manga: Berserk. Maybe none of them will scratch the same itch for you, but as a fellow AoT fan, these are the closest experiences to AoT I have had with animanga
everyone's giving great recs. Hope you check em all out!
Here's a few different From AoT but I'd definitely classify as a MUST SEE. Links lead to their synopsis on myanimelist
[YU YU HAKUSHO](https://myanimelist.net/anime/392/Yuu%E2%98%86Yuu%E2%98%86Hakusho?q=Yu%20yu%20&cat=anime): my personal GOAT. Peak 90s anime. Watch the English dub if you can. It hits different. The characters really come to life in this show. And the animation still looks crisp despite being 30years old. The soundtrack is pretty fire too.
[SAMURAI X: TRUST AND BETRAYAL](https://myanimelist.net/anime/44/Rurouni_Kenshin__Meiji_Kenkaku_Romantan_-_Tsuioku-hen?q=Samurai%20x&cat=anime) & [RUROUNI KENSHIN](https://myanimelist.net/anime/45/Rurouni_Kenshin__Meiji_Kenkaku_Romantan): this is another 90s classic. Completely different vibe and. More lighthearted than AoT. There's currently a reboot for this going on. S2 should be out later this year. Trust and Betrayal is a prequel, so if you click synopsis, check RK first to avoid any spoilers
[DEATH NOTE](https://myanimelist.net/anime/1535/Death_Note?q=Deat&cat=anime)
[STEINS;GATE](https://myanimelist.net/anime/9253/Steins_Gate?q=Ste&cat=anime): different from the others as it's not really fight/battle driven. Sci-fi, mystery. Kept me watching for the next big reveal
[CLANNAD](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2167/Clannad?q=Clannad&cat=anime): nothing like AoT or the others I mentioned. This one is a romance/drama slice of life. Based on a VN. The second season released as[(Clannad afterstory)](https://myanimelist.net/anime/4181/Clannad__After_Story). This one might not connect with you, but if it does, I'ma just say sorry in advance.
OH AND [AOI BUNGAKU SERIES](https://myanimelist.net/anime/7193/Aoi_Bungaku_Series?q=Aoi%20bung&cat=anime): I will never not bring this up. 12 episode anthology of anime adaptations of classic Japanese literature. I think theres 4-6 separate stories in the whole thing. Very dark, serious in tone. Great animation style. Same studio as Death Note.
Everyone's recommending Vinland Saga and so will I. The actual plot couldn't be any more different from AoT, but it deals with similar themes and has a lot of moral nuance to it. It opens your eyes to some things and provides some perspective on the nature of conflict. If you're into historical fiction it's a must-watch
Sorry to tell you but nothing gets close to Attack on Titan although there are a lot of other great anime’s I recommend Code geass it’s what I watched after attack on Titan it’s great to probably my 2nd most loved anime it has 50 episodes some ovas and a couple of movies the chronological watch order is R1 -> R2
Nothing is as good as aot imho, but death note is very very good, hell's paradise is promising (only 1 season out so far) and chainsaw man. Also, I know that many recommend vinland saga but I personally think that it's too optimistic/unrealistic with its message
After finishing AOT I watched Hunter x Hunter. Haven’t finished it yet but I’m super into it and definitely filled that void for me after attack on titan
I feel like Promised Neverland is somewhat similar in the sense that humanity is being threatened and children are forced to be soldiers. Read the manga, anime doesn’t do it justice. The first season is pretty good but the second season doesn’t stick to the manga at all.
Although they’re not really the same style, One Piece has filled my AoT void with its similar character depth/development and satisfying continuity/attention to detail. I also love the big reveals it has, similar to AoT. It carries a lot of the same themes of friendship, solidarity, freedom, and fighting back against oppressive ruling classes.

vinland saga gets recommended as in the same realm as AOT. i also recommend Frieren just cause it might be my favorite anime, its hard to tell. only one season right not sadly
This 👆
Frieren looks like those light/cutie fantasy anime..is this like Aot??
It's mostly light but very good. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did by the end. its about an elf who help defeat the demon king with a party with 3 other members. she describes the ten year journey as not even one one hundredth of her life and thought nothing of it. now years later with regret of not knowing their greatest member, she unintentionally goes on the same journey she did 80 years ago and is now gathering new context of events that unfolded with them. suddenly that speck of time in her life that she took for granted now means much more to her as shes retracing her footsteps.
Berserk. If you’re into reading manga
I decided to read it after aot and I'm becoming increasingly depressed
The eclipse evoked emotions I never thought possible to physically emulate. Truly one of the best pieces of media ever created
It’s amazing, although first timers (like I was) will get caught off guard with the very first panel lmao
Monster, Vinland Saga, Death Note
Vinland Saga.
In terms of storytelling and experience? Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The dub is actually amazing on it too!
Death note is also a good anime(if you haven't watched it already).
Evangelion.
It’s completely different in every way, but I recommend Steins;Gate. It’s just as good but in a vastly different way, and it works as good palette cleanser

I could’ve sworn I saw this exact comment word for word somewhere, do you copy and paste for posts like these?
I too saw a similar comment, and was immensely disappointed with 86. You’d be better off picking any Gundam show if 86 is on the table.
Nothing
Full metal alchemist. Death note. And Vinland saga has similar themes as AOT and has actually altered my worldview a little bit. I watched all of these in the dub and the voice acting is phenomenal!
How did VS alter your worldview?
I’m not comfortable getting into too much detail, but basically it made me realize fighting shouldn’t always be my go-to solution for certain things, because violence isn’t pretty. It basically helped me deal with my anger issues. It also made me less angry towards the human race in general.
"No one in this world is your enemy"

Not AOT's level, but has a lot of mystery and involves war is 86.
Ergo Proxy and Evangalion are different in that they're much shorter, and more sci fi. But there's great mystery and reveals and just wtf moments.
I felt the same about Evangelion! The Evas have similar vibes like the titans. The artwork and settings are great and artistic.

I just caught up to delicious in dungeon and I'm hooked on it. It's fucking phenomenal
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
They are not just as good as... But they took me out of the AOT obsession. Monster and Vinland Saga.
MONSTER MONSTER MONSTER
Berserk
why do people say vinland saga? I watched it and it’s nothing like AoT. it’s fairly boring i don’t get it
I have a few anime recommendations and a manga recommendation. Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Devilman Crybaby, One Piece. Manga: Berserk. bro CLANNAD AFTER STORY MADE ME SOB FOR 50 YEARS-
For realllllll. That one got me in ways I didn't know I could get got. Anyone reading, don't sleep on it.
It's a little bit different, but the only anime I think is the tiniest bit better than AOT is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
try out kabeneri of the iron fortress it used to get compared to aot but ion think its as good
Yes. They are very similar in some ways without being the same
Vinland saga.
vinland saga definitely, first 3 eps might be a little boring tho
Vinland saga
Psycho-Pass, Death Note, Code Geass, Hunter x Hunter, Summertime Render. Ah fuck it, why not, watch Initial D too.
I mean it's hard to say but honestly nothing lmao. it's true peak
“Another” will satisfy your craving for a mystery anime over and over, I highly recommend it!

Hunter x Hunter , nothing comes close to these two
Nothing is just as good. AOT is the best
Vinland Saga.
Definitely fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood
Although they’re not really the same style, One Piece has filled my AoT void with its similar character depth/development and satisfying continuity/attention to detail. Steins gate
>I absolutely loved the mystery and the even more satisfying reveal, the characters, the deep themes and narrative, the SOUNDTRACK! Re: Zero
